The hubby and I had not been to the Logan Street Market in a while and decided it was the place to have lunch. We had never tried Fresh Out the Box and gave it a try. The girl who took our order was very patient and helpful when we had questions about several ingredients and my dietary restrictions. We received a buzzer to alert us when our order was ready, which didn't t take very long. I ordered a Bulgogi beef bowl with broccoli, spicy radish, carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, sesame seeds, and yum-yum sauce. The presentation was very visually appealing, but that is where the positives end. The beef was described as having a lot of flavors from the marinade, but it was very bland and pale and I might have had the equivalent of 1 slice of cucumber cut into fourths. The entire bowl lacked flavor, the portion was small, and for the price, I was disappointed. I'm not sure that I will return. There were numerous tables throughout the market to enjoy one's meal, and free street-side parking was available throughout the neighborhood. read more

More like semi-fresh; cold and rather tasteless out of the box into a bowl. We visited the Logan Street Market in Louisville and were surprised it was not the bustling place it once was with a lot of vacant shops and few patrons. We settled on Fresh Out of the Box but left disappointed. The small portion of food lacked any 'kick' was rather cold and watery. This spot is located in the Logan Street Market. We placed our order at the counter and they they gave us a pager. There is common area seating inside and outside. My mom had the spicy salmon poke bowl with spicy cucumber, regular cucumber, warm noodles, and yum yum sauce. I ordered the ahi tuna kimchi, pickled radish, edamame, ginger with fries rice. There aren't many places in Louisville that serve poke, so I'm happy for this option here. I got the ahi tuna bowl, and enjoyed the ability to pick eight toppings from a pretty varied list. My order was ready quickly, and everything was fresh, tasty, and nicely presented. Keeping this from being a 5* review is the price. $13 doesn't get you much in the way of protein compared to most other fast-casual poke restaurants in the country, and overall the bowl is a little on the small side. I'll return, but will likely try the bi-bim-bap when I do. read more

This is one of my favorite places in the Logan Street Market to eat, especially when it isn't strictly breakfast time. I long for a bagel from Cold Smoke and the Beef Bulgogi from Fresh Out the Box. One of my favorite things about the bulgogi bowl is my ability to choose which protein, vegetables, and toppings go into it. I like to have spicy and pickled vegetables but I also like to mix it up in terms of what I put into it. Sometimes, I am a delicate flower that can handle no heat and other times I want to feel like a double-headed dragon for the rest of the day. It's a process not perfection. They also have chopsticks available which I am a huge fan of using and always have been. Oddly, they aren't always available at places you'd expect them or that *I* expect them. They have other options which I assume are great but I am in this rut where I want the spicy beef bulgogi. You can't go wrong here. Also, their customer service is top notch. read more

Yum! It took me long enough to finally try FOB! And that occasion finally happened at the 2019 Old Lou Craft Beer Fest. There were several tasty looking and sounding food truck options there, but I wanted Korean tacos. So I bee-lined right to the window to order. I got two, one pork and one beef. They all come with lettuce, and you get to choose two other toppings per taco. I got one with kimchi and one with the spicy radish, both topped off with sour cream (in case the other toppings were too spicy for my stupidly delicate palate, the sour cream could help with that). The food was made quickly and ready to eat in no time. And it was delicious! The flour tortillas got soggy pretty quick and made eating messy. But as long as the food still tastes great...I can't really be mad! Super tasty, prepared quickly, and very reasonably priced! Why on Earth did it take me so long? Stopped by for lunch and ordered the bibimbap. Service was fast, friendly, and within a few minutes, lunch is served. Presentation wise, just as you might expect for a bibimbap. Plenty of vegetables, meat had the typical sweet soy flavor, and the egg was runny. Overall, good flavor and presentation. I did notice one difference that caught my eye; the rice. Fresh doesn't use short grain rice most Korean restaurants use. A little picky, yes. Sadly a product of too many years eating Korean food. Did it make a difference in the overall flavor? We randomly went to Logan Street Market for another vendor, but noticed this new food vendor. We hadn't heard of it before but the menu looked good and the sign said open! We waited for a few minutes before one of the chefs came around to take our order. We ordered three appetizers to take home. The Kimbap (beef and veggie sushi), rice kimchi balls and pork belly bao buns. Everything was delicious! The Kimbap was a generous portion with 8-10 pieces. So good and hit the spot. The rice kimchi balls were also so tasty! Fried to perfection with a drizzle of sauce on top. Couldn't really taste the kimchi spice, but it had a pinkish color inside. For those unfamiliar, it's a ball of rice, cheese and kimchi that is fried, similar to Mac n cheese ball. Finally, the pork belly bao buns were equally yummy. The bun was nice and moist, the pork belly was delicious and there was an Asian slaw on top. Two came in an order. Would highly recommend everything we ate and we will be going back. I finally got to try Fresh Out the Box when a group of us went to a food tuck event downtown. I went with the rice bowl where you get to pick your protein and toppings. For the amount of food you get, it's fairly cheap. I don't think I spend 10 bucks. Everything was good so it's a win for me. read more

I used to enjoy FOTB, but as I've continued to patronize their stand in Logan Street Market, I've become disillusioned with both the quality and the price of the food served. The last time I got FOTB it gave me food poisoning, but I figured that, given the quality of my food in the past, I would give it another try today. Oh how wrong I was. I am extremely dissatisfied with the quality of my food- part of my rice were undercooked, and for $12, I was extremely disappointed to wait 25 minutes for food that tasted and looked like it had been bathed in WD-40. I will not be returning to FOTB, and I encourage you to do the same. read more

I'm a recent Korean food convert, so whenever I find it when I'm out and about, I have to try it. So I was especially excited to find Fresh Out the Box at the recent aviation festival at Bowman Field, after having followed @fobfoodtruck on Instagram. I ordered the bibimbap ($9) and a side of yaki mondu ($3.50). The wait was only a few minutes, so before I knew it, I was digging in. The bibimbap was loaded with veggies and rice and had a fried egg on top. For my protein, I got it with pork. The pork was nicely seasoned, and I very much liked the egg, which was topped with gochujang (chili pepper paste), I think. The serving size was filling and worth the price. And I admit, I was intrigued by the yaki mondu mostly because I didn't know what they were. (FYI: They're Korean fried dumplings.) These were a fun snack, with beef, cabbage, carrots and onions on the inside. Imagine an egg roll in crispy dumpling form. That's what these reminded me of. All in all, Fresh Out the Box provided a quick, filling lunch with intriguing, interesting dishes. Not impressed with the service. Dude was texting the whole time he took my order. He took my order, lost my order, then gave me the wrong order. After I took the wrong order up he asked me what I ordered, cut me off before I could finish and then did not input my order. Until moving here, I had not had a chance to experience such a variety of food. I have been wanting to try Fresh Out the Box for a while, and Korean Tacos sounded really interesting. You build your own of whatever you want to get, for the tacos you chose your meat and 2 toppings. I went with chicken, with sprouts and sour cream (something that I don't normally have, with something familiar). They were pretty good. The bibimbap bowls looked even better, so I clearly will have to try one of those next time with a different protein and different toppings. read more

I've had Fresh Out the Box twice outside of 3rd Turn Brewing and I can't wait to have it again! They have the best crab rangoons in the city (and believe me, I'm a connoisseur); they are not overly sweet and taste like real crab, not surimi. If you're not a fan of really delicious rangoons (which... why aren't you?!), they do really awesome dishes of your choice of meat, style (rice, taco, etc), veggies, and kimchis. Food was decent. Portion size was very small to the price. This is owned by a husband and wife and the customer service was sub-par. Not very many food trucks frequent the Mt Washington area. Fresh Out the Box is actually the only one to my knowledge. I tried their steamed dumplings and egg rolls about 4 months ago and was a great lunch treat. That was the only time I had the opportunity to try their food up until yesterday. Fresh Out the Box was at the Tailspin Ale Festival. A local beer festival that allows you to sample over 300 beers, local and nationwide. Now with the purchase of a VIP you get a food voucher for one of the food trucks there. There were about 8 food trucks to choose from Fresh Out the Box's offer for VIP ticket holders were for 2 tacos and an egg roll. Now the tacos were just as the food trucks name states, fresh. The chicken was flavored perfectly and was accented perfectly with lettuce, onions, and cheese. The egg roll had a great crunch and tasty cabbage inside. If you're able to see the bright orange trailer you should stop in a try a bite! read more
