This is the best poke I've found in Louisville. I only recently discovered it, but I've already had it several times and am obsessed. The interior isn't anything special. They have some seating, but I think it's mostly carryout orders. I recommend ordering online so it's ready when you get there. My favorite bowl has been the volcano bowl. It has all my favorite things. The Ahi Poke bowl is decent too. You can build your own bowls. They have tons of varieties of ingredients and it's all very fresh. Highly recommend! read more

I've had a lot of poke bowls all over the country, but this is the best yet! The servings of fresh, tasty raw fish or plentiful. I loved the octopus so tender and fresh. I ended up having two because one was not enough and I needed to drive back to North Carolina so I decided to fill up with fabulous fish on the way. Very quiet when I entered with no music and maybe three tables total to sit at? You start on one side and add toppings to your base. Not a bad price for three protein choices (11.50)! I'm sad to say that this was a disappointment as the fish was not very fresh and was tough (even though it was raw). I also found a fish bone in my yellowtail tuna...even though there was plenty of sauce, it seems like it is missing some depth of flavor. Something about this is just not cohesive. I heart poke and I heart Pokehana! Pokehana is also small, nondescript but clean and efficient. I have been here 4 or 5 times so far. I find their ingredients to be very fresh each time. I always get a poke bowl with brown rice as the base, then I go nuts w so many add-ons. My favorites so far has been the yellowtail, tuna and salmon. It's not easy to keep everything so fresh, but Pokehana manages to do it well. Their seaweed salad is a must try, too. And their spicy mayo is no joke! It stung me a bit, but it didn't stop me from eating. Pokehana is just so good and very much worth the money. One note: since they keep their rice fresh and hot in the rice cooker, it means that the raw fish will be warmed up if you have to wait to eat it. What a little gem! I have been wanting to try PokeHana for a long time and I finally decided to venture downtown for lunch one Tuesday. Parking was easy (thank the Lord!) at one of the many meters down the street. When I walked in, there were a couple of people dining in and a couple of people in line. The line moved fast and the gentleman making the poke bowls was incredibly friendly. This was the first time I had tried poke so I perused the menu for a few minutes before deciding on a regular bowl with white rice, spicy tuna, kani, and veggies. I got the house sauce but next time I think I'll get something spicier. The portions were generous, the tuna and veggies were fresh and flavorful, and the house sauce was nicely creamy. The first time I went, I ordered one of the bowls on the menu. The next couple times, I built my own poke bowl. I like that option so I can get my bowl over lettuce, rather than over rice. Although if you prefer rice, they have both white and brown rice. The fish I have gotten has always been fresh and tasty! I do wish that there were more veggie options to add to the bowl. That said, the seaweed salad is my favorite thing ever! I love that masago is a topping option. YUM!! And the sauces are delicious! There are enough different things to choose from, I could get a poke bowl every week and have it taste totally different just changing a couple things! And you get quite a bit of food for your $9ish dollars. If you get your poke bowl with rice, you probably have enough food for two full meals! It isn't a fancy place. You are meant to take your bowl to-go, I think. There are maybe 6-8 seats inside, and if it is nice weather another 6-8 seats outside. Not very large. You get through the line pretty quick. Poke has been on my food bucket list for a bit now. Happily, that has now been crossed off, and I'm excited to go back and try more. PokeHana has a counter a la Subway or Qdoba where you choose the items for your rice bowl, but at PokeHana you choose from rice or lettuce, vegetables, protein choices (including sushi-grade fish, steak, chicken, or tofu), toppings and homemade sauces. I'm a fan of trying new things, but I was a bit hesitant about the raw fish. I asked the lady behind the counter what she recommends; she directed me to the salmon. I'm not normally a fan of raw salmon, but I thought I'd give it a try and got it with shrimp. I'm so happy I did! The chunks of raw salmon didn't have the texture I was expecting, which was a nice surprise. They tasted fresh and light. Along with white rice, avocado, salmon, shrimp and ginger, I got the ponzu (citrus soy) sauce on top. This made for a good portion of food that tasted refreshing. I left feeling fed but not weighed down by my lunch. The servers moved everyone through quickly. Most customers took their bowls to go, but there are a few tables if you want to eat in. This place is pretty small, maybe 2-3 tables and some high chair seating. It's a busy place during lunch. For about $9, you get to pick two types of fish, a grain (or lettuce) and vegetables. I was a little disappointed they did not have real or imitation crab to add to the poke bowl but I settled with the bul-gogi bowl. You can add any additional vegetables to the bowls at no cost! I love PokeHana and wish there was one somewhere else besides downtown. When I worked in the downtown area, I would go once a week, now I go when I get in the area. They have several options on their menu but I get the same thing all the time because why mess with perfection? I get the regular bowl with white rice dould the spicy tuna, all the toppings but onions (allergy), and the poke sauce, all for $10.60, including tax. It is fast counter service where you tell them what you want as you go down the line and pay at the end. I have never waiting in line long and the place is almost always busy. There is inside seating, but not much, so I get it to go and find a nice place to eat downtown. My only complaint is I want one closer to home. read more

If there is an adjective to describe poke, it's "fresh." The place comes packed with options for people who are vegetarian or don't like raw fish. The possibilities are what make it fun. I tried both the salmon and tuna on my bowl, which I think I liked the salmon much better in all honesty. An easy choice for 'American sushi' taste. Creamy avocado chunks with slightly pickled cucumbers adds texture and color. The seaweed salad is a must in poke bowls to relate back to its Hawaiian and Japanese origins. The tricky part is the sauce. There's so many and although they have descriptions posted, I had no real way of telling which ones would taste good. It's a small place with limited seating, but it seemed like most were just getting it to go. I ate there though. In this fancy white chair that matched nothing else in the interior. Lol! Good times. The service was kind of " whatever " ... oh well. It's not fine dining. Just a get it and bone out type of place. The only thing I was upset about was there weren't many Asian drink options if any at all that I saw. I was really wanting some iced green tea. All good though. Finally got a day off during the week to visit this restaurant, and I'm so pleased. If you're unfamiliar with Poke, they will walk you through it without making you feel like uncultured swine.
