Some of the best Korean tacos I've ever had are found at The Traveling Kitchen food truck! This has been a long time favorite, but during Covid they stopped coming to 5th and Market. A few weeks ago they reappeared and are starting a more regular rotation again with Fridays at 5th and Market from 11-1:15. It's hard to describe how delicious these tacos are, but it's like a party in my mouth. My go to tacos are Korean Beef Bulgogi taco, Spicy Pork taco and Teriyaki chicken tacos. They are $4 each (after price increase), but if you purchase three it's $11. They also have a fish and tempura taco and dumplings. I always get the pan fried dumplings and they are amazing ($5). The sauce it comes with is slightly tangy and compliment the dumplings perfectly. Now back to the tacos - each have kimchi fried rice, meat, cilantro and sauce. I always add kimchi to each taco too, it's free but you have to ask. The Bulgogi is slightly sweet, the pork is not very spicy but has a great flavor and the chicken is so good. I would highly recommend trying them all. To order, you stand to the left of the line waiting for food. At some point you'll be asked for your order. Sometimes it takes a little longer but so worth the wait. Once you have ordered you can then join the food line. You don't pay until you get to the front of the line, and then your food is ready! They also offer some soft drinks and water for purchase. I LOVE this food truck and suggest you follow them online to see where they are going to be so you can become an addict like me! read more

Oh how I missed this Food Truck. Prior to quarantine, The Traveling Kitchen was on 5th and Market by my office building on Wednesday's and Fridays every week. I would treat myself to their Korean Tacos a couple of times per month. Well Covid hit and I missed them so much! Well, my daughter sent me a text with their schedule this week, and we met them at 141 N Spring and all my dreams came true! We each got the three Korean Beef Bulgagi tacos with Kimchee full of flavorful steak topped with crunchy and mildly spicy Kimchee (optional) served on a flour tortilla. You can get one taco for $3, or three for $8. So why not save a dollar and have three? New this time we tried the pork dumplings. They were delicious pillows of pork and veggies with a scrumptious dipping sauce. Thank you Traveling Kitchen for providing us with your amazing food during Covid. I am so thankful that Traveling Kitchen was my first experience with Korean tacos.... they were fantastic! They came to the neighborhood we were in for the evening with a long line of people, and now I can see why. Mexican is probably one of my favorite ethnic food groups, but I think I may now favor Asian tacos. They have multiple kinds to try, but I have to recommend the bulgogi beef tacos...so good! everything from the beef to the sauces was great. Aside from tacos, they also had pork dumplings, which you can get pan or deep fried... You must get these too!! Another first for me that I just loved. Best tacos in the city, and it's not even close. Well... I mean. They're Korean style. That needs to be noted. So if you're going expecting traditional Latino style tacos, this truck isn't for you, but I suggest you do not turn away. The beef taco is a bit sweet. I recommend getting it with kimchi to balance out the sweetness, but it's a solid option. The pork taco is spicy, and it's my favorite. Also get with kimchi to balance out that spice. The fish taco is my least favorite, but still excellent. Kimchi isn't needed here, unless you want to flare it up. The chicken taco is also really good, but my 3rd favorite after the pork and the beef. It's a serviceable taco. Three tacos for $9.00. And it's plenty of food. Order at the door, then get in line and wait for your food. You won't regret it. read more

Some of the best Asian inspired tacos out there! I recommend the Bulgogi beef and Teri chicken tacos with kim chi added. They both were very flavorful, with fresh ingredients and a nice amount of heat. I also tried their spicy pork and veggie taco which were also great and their dumplings. I joke: I wouldn't show up to your party, food truck or no, but I would show up to something with these amazing Asian tacos. We tried all of them, even the tempura fish, and enjoy them all. I normally eschew fish - especially fried fish - but this time I had been drinking so it wasn't a big deal. They also had dumplings that were amazing, I was very cross with myself for sharing with my friend. I should have gotten all of the dumplings for myself and let her watch me eat but I'm not that type of person. I shared the dumplings. I'm usually don't get to eat from food trucks because, let's face it, hipsters surround them like it's the Walking Dead. We really can't have nice things. Some of the best tacos in Louisville! This is a food truck that parks near my work every Wednesday. The people are very nice and they remember the repeat customers. The line is often long around 12 but moves quickly. Don't get there too late because they could run out of meats (depending on how busy they are)! The chicken, fish and veggie tacos are my favorite. The fish and veggie tacos are deep fried in a tempura batter. They also serve pork and beef tacos, which are delicious but sometimes the meat is too fatty for me. My favorite food truck in town! These tacos are phenomenal! Between the tender meat, toppings, and sauces - these tacos are packed with so much flavor. Make sure to get kimchi - hell, get extra. I rarely get to go to Traveling Kitchen because I don't work downtown where they're usually parked. So when I do get to go - I go all out and get everything. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food that you get. They are usually parked in the same places each week, but if you are wondering they put their location on their Facebook page. I've never tried asian/fusion tacos and this was a really good spin on it and was 100x better than the other taco I got from somewhere else (not naming). I did the mix of bulgogi, spicy pork and tempura fish. I know i don't like fish tacos but I wanted to try it anyways, still not a fan. Not their's wasn't good i just don't like it in general. But the spicy pork and bulgogi were on point! Nice portion comes with rice in it, lettuce in the fish taco. A little too much lettuce for my taste seems like a filler. But omg make sure to order it with kimchi (freeeee) it gives them all a nice kick and adds a little something! When I use to get out of class and see their food truck parked on campus... the speed walk started. Seriously, if you miss your opening chance the line will grow right before your eyes. I remember Matt and I trying the Traveling Kitchen in their early days. Korean-style tacos were not new to us; in 2009 we waited in an incredibly long line to try Korean barbecue tacos from Kogi in LA. So while the idea didn't seem radical or anything, we did appreciate Traveling Kitchen's execution. On any given day I wouldn't suggest rice on a taco with a flour tortilla, but it really works for them. Despite liking them, until recently I'd only had them sporadically. Then my office moved downtown, much to my delight. Food trucks rarely paid us a visit in the 'burbs. Now I have so many options that I wasn't expecting to form a habit, particularly because I try to bring my lunch. Curse you, Traveling Kitchen! My standard taco order is now one beef and two veggie. I've had the chicken and pork tacos as well, and I love their dumplings (pan-fried). I haven't had the fish, but I know it's popular. The bulgogi beef comes with rice, tomato, cilantro, and onion (I order without the latter). The veggie tempura features assorted fried veggies and lettuce, tomato, and cilantro. The lettuce is a nice compliment to the fried batter. Both come with sauces to round out the flavors. The tempura veggie has become my absolute favorite but I order the beef for variety. Since they are so popular, I try to take lunch early on days when I have them. Keep in mind that you order at the door to the left; the line that forms to the right is for pick-up/payment. read more

The traveling kitchen is BY FAR my favorite of all the taco places I've visited in Louisville. The flavor profile of each taco has its own hint of uniqueness in taste. The tacos are stuffed with rice, meat, pico and a line of a sauce. (With veggie option don't worry you vegans out there). It's spicy, but not overwhelmingly so and its just the right amount. I was at work and I was hungry. I tried calling in a to go from a pizza place next door. They put me on hold and while I was listening to the beep beep of the hold line, I realized I was not at all in the mood for pizza or being on hold so I took to the sidewalk looking for grub. I've been working downtown for a while now and had yet to take advantage of the food trucks that are often very easy to find around main st. Today I found the traveling kitchen, they sell Asian fusion tacos from within a super cool food truck. They were busy, I was cool to wait. As the queue got longer a man popped out of the truck and started taking orders. Having never been there before, I asked what was good and he told me about the dumplings. So I snagged those, along with a couple of tacos, (I work at a taco shop on main so I like to try other local tacos to see how they stack up) I went with the fish and the chicken. I made my way back to work to munch. First I tried the dumplings, that come with a nice soy sauce. They were perfect. I'm glad I was alone, because I devoured those little pot stickers like a man possessed. The tacos were really good, I love a good fish taco. The chicken was awesome and had rice as a filler. But after having demolished the dumplings it was hard to process anything else. If you're in Louisville and see the traveling kitchen, do yourself a true solid and get the dumplings. read more

I don't even know where to start with this review...seriously, the struggle is real because this truck is so yummy. I thought Urban Kitchen was my fav, but they fell off the grid and TK has rocked my food truck world! I seek out their truck 2-3 times a week (if I can); Tuesdays at dental school, and Fridays at Apocalypse Brew. The guys are really good about updating Facebook to let me know where they will be all week long. I take full advantage of that too...stalk much? Let's talk tacos! Bulgogi beef, teriyaki chicken, spicy pork, tempura fish, and tempura veggie. I have tried all but the veggie and that is only because I have a tremendously hard time ordering anything besides the beef because it is so freaking good! "Three beef tacos, no onion, add kimchi...oh, and an order of dumplings." BOOM! That's the order. The teriyaki chicken is always my back up when I don't get to the truck early enough for the beef. They fill their flour shells with rice (love it), plenty of meat, a couple of different sauces, and kimchi if you choose...you better (highly recommend). I'm not exactly sure what the sauces are, one of them is reminiscent of Sriracha, but they taste awesome together and on all of the tacos! The dumplings are a nice side piece to the tacos in case three tacos don't fill you up. There is something about the dipping sauce that makes me want to ask for a straw. Three tacos for $7 is a great deal, and an order of dumplings will only set you back $4...pretty, pretty cheap if you ask me! This truck holds a special place in my taco loving heart. So, go there...or don't so I don't have to wait in line or risk the chance of you taking the last of the Bulgogi! read more

I am glad I only know where this truck is one day a week. Otherwise I would drive far out of my way to eat these tacos every single day. They are amazing and delicious. My coworker talked them up to me and I have absolutely no regrets about trying them. I can not recommend their dumplings enough. I was a little disappointed by their teriyaki chicken tacos but their spicy pork is so good that it makes up for it. Also wait times can kind of be bad. I highly recommend the chicken, fish, and pork tacos, and the dumplings. The only downside is that, unless you work downtown, they can be hard to catch. I like this food truck. Many of the trucks are overpriced and underwhelming. I was really excited about the Food Truck Movement in Louisville a few years ago but now after trying all of them but one (WHERE are you Longshot??!!), I am not super impressed.
