We have been going to and ordering from Fresh Start for over 30 years. This was my mom's place to go after her hair appointments on Fridays. Danny and everyone were like family. I work nearby and we order lunch all the time. Everyone has tried everything and there are no complaints. I order extra chripy fries and they are! Burgers are juicy, the Dan wrap is my favorite. "Real" Corned beef didn't have much taste and texture. Could use more seasoning and more time in the griddle. Coffee was WEAK. I actually feel a little odd about leaving a 5 star rating on a place I've only had one menu item from but here I am. I've been here about five times now (dine in once and takeout about four times) and always get the corned beef on rye with Swiss. As for most people from the Greater Cleveland area, the gold standard for a corned beef sandwich is set by Slyman's (the original, not any of their chains) or Joe's Deli. While I still love the sandwiches from both of those places I can honestly say Fresh Start Deli's corned beef sandwiches are way better. They taste amazing! They are piled high but not quite as high as the other two places I've mentioned. However, the pricing is also significantly lower. The only complaint I have is that they close too early. read more

What a quaint but very loud diner this was. After our other option fell through, we decided to try this place. It looked like a long wait but luckily we were seated immediately, the smaller the party the better! Our waitress was great and the service was fast. Very friendly staff! The parking lot if small and an odd shape so it can get crowded at times. The diner was very loud and my least favorite thing was when they would ring this very loud bell every now and then when chef's got tips. What a dive. And it is oh so good! Is a very tiny place so when you show up and its busy you wait either just inside the door or outside on the sidewalk. We waited maybe 15 minutes for a table. Several people seem to wait on you. The person that seated us got our drinks. Someone else took our order. And a completely different person brought our food. I got the Alice Corned Beef omelet. When I read the description of the omelet I thought corned beef hash was going to be in the middle. It was cooked into the eggs. Cheese melted on top. Which is fine. It was delicious. The best veggie eggs Benedict I've had in a long time! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. I could taste the butter on the English muffin which reminded me of my childhood meals. Maybe not the healthiest, but it definitely hit the spot. I subbed the home fries for some tomatoes slices and those were basic, but worked for me. My daughter's tuna wrap looked really good, as well. I husband's BLT was gone pretty quickly and so he must've liked it. He liked the chips that were served with it, but I thought they were just like burnt potato chips. There were no complaints on his end. Our food came out pretty quickly about 10 to 15 minutes after we ordered it. Aside from the food, the only thing I would say is that no one was wearing a mask in the entire place except for me. There are lots of great items on the menu but my go-to of late has been the crab cake Benedict. It is always prepared perfectly and the crab cakes are crispy. This is a nice place to get breakfast. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. So was the owner who was running food. They served the best turkey sausage links I've ever had and the owner was nice enough to tell me where he bought them. The eggs were cooked well, the bacon was flavorless, I wouldn't recommend that but, the buckwheat pancake was pretty good. My son got a skillet dish that I can't remember off the top of my head but he loved it. The home fries were legit too. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, perfect side. Great diner for breakfast and lunch. The food is always hot and delicious. If you tip the cooks the wait staff will ring a cowbell. The kids really seem to enjoy that. There is seating at a counter and tables and booths. It's a small place so expect to wait on the weekends. The pancakes are huge and awesome. The American fries are a house specialty.
