Local town diner right here. Packed for breakfast on the weekends and consistent in food quality. Not great for variety if anyone with you has dietary restrictions. The service is honestly where this place falls short. Most workers can't even pretend to smile while serving you or act like they actually care that you brought your business there.

    Stuffed cabbage!!!!

Delicious food! Freshly prepared and wonderful staff. I ordered the Mediterranean salad with chicken. Good ratio of meat and veggies to lettuce. Loved the taste of salad! Spouse had stuffed cabbage special and said it was excellent. He also had the chicken noodle soup. We are going to go back very soon. If you eat here, keep in mind they have large portions. You will want to save room for dessert--the rice pudding! Best rice pudding I've ever eaten!

Mediocre diner food at best but for some reason still pretty packed most of the time. Fine if you want super okay food and a local diner vibe. Service can be hit and miss. Last time I was there it was a huge miss and we had the grouchiest waitress who didn't even pretend to care.

What makes Scratch's French toast so good is that they don't use plain old white bread for it. Instead, they use sweet bread pudding, which makes for an utterly decadent and delicious breakfast. The pieces of bread pudding had crisp edges while being soft on the inside. They were topped with sliced bananas and a rich bourbon caramel sauce, and served with maple syrup infused whipped cream that was almost practically ice cream. The French toast also comes with your choice of sausage or pork belly. I opted for the sausage patties, which were tasty and homemade. I also ordered the orange juice ($4.50) and home fries ($3.75). The home fries were delicious. Crispy potato chunks that were the right amount of salty. Between the French toast and home fries, I left stuffed. Service was also great. My server was very friendly and welcoming, and came to check on me a couple of times. Notes - it's a small place with a couple of tables, but I was able to take a seat right away on a Friday morning. Every table comes with 2 bottles of hot sauce - a red sauce and green sauce. You pay at the cash register after you get your check.

I met a friend for breakfast this morning, and everything from start to finish was spot on. I ordered the Sweet Jalapeño Sandwich: an English muffin piled with jam, bacon, an egg cooked over medium, and cheddar, served with home fries. It was the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and just a little kick. My friend stuck with her usual: the Banana & Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding French Toast, topped with fresh bananas and their homemade bourbon caramel sauce, plus a side of pork belly. It looked incredible and, according to her, tasted just as good as it always does. We arrived just a few minutes after they opened at 8:00 and were seated right away. The service was friendly, attentive, and very prompt without feeling rushed. Scratch has such a great casual, local diner feel, but with a menu that's anything but ordinary. The portions are generous, the flavors are unique, and the quality is consistently excellent. Definitely a go-to spot for breakfast or brunch...you really can't go wrong here.

We also had a couple bottles of wine at the table, which were good as well. For appetizers, we shared oysters, meatballs, and shrimp cocktail. All of them were good, but the meatballs were my favorite. For my entrée, I ordered the prime rib. It was a bit saltier than I would have liked, but the sides helped balance it out. I really enjoyed the corn and mashed potatoes, and I also added mushrooms and onions, which helped offset the saltiness. In hindsight, I kind of wish I had ordered the filet mignon, as I suspect it wouldn't have been as salty. The bread at the beginning of the meal was also really good. Dessert was a standout--I got the turtle cake, and it was huge. It's definitely the best value on the menu. Three of us shared it and still couldn't finish it, though that may have also been due to the amount of food and drinks we had throughout the night. The food did take a while to come out, but the service remained good the entire time. We expected dinner to wrap up around 7:00, but we started at 5:30 and didn't finish until about 8:30--there were 16 of us, so it was understandable. Overall, a solid experience, especially for a group event.

She said she wanted to be by the water, somewhere "healing", so we discovered Tinkers Creek Tavern together, and the scenery was more than we anticipated. We opted for the patio, of course. While it was hot outside, we didn't notice the heat. The shade from the trees and the creek nearby must have cooled things down. Bugs were not an issue either. The staff was super friendly. We explained we were newbies ans asked for recommendations. We learned their brisket is something they're known for, but I leaned more towards seafood. I had the shrimp and grits for my meal, after the pretzel as an appetizer. The food was so good and our experience was so great I told my mom about it, who happened to go back with my brother while I was at work one Saturday (bummer ). I've also called in take out, and returned several times with another friend and my middle son. We had the fried green tomatoes, fried mozzarella, corn pudding, and brisket sandwich (I opt out the cheese). The food hits every time.

Friends and family always circle back with a "thank you" after visiting, especially when they're in the Valley View or Independence area. When I worked nearby for a couple of years, my coworkers and I made a habit of grabbing lunch on the patio. It overlooks the calm stretch of Tinkers Creek, which adds a quiet, almost tucked-away feel to the experience. One afternoon, we even watched a crane wade through the water, bathing and fishing like it owned the place. Not a bad backdrop for a lunch break. Consistently great food, reliable service, and a setting that does a little extra without trying too hard.
