so let me start by saying I grew up on this diner with my grandmother for years, it was always an amazing experience until I just went recently. the server who's blonde and wears her hair tied up so rude and added extra food to my bill I didn't order. she barely checked on us or refilled anything. when it came time to pack up left overs she only threw 2 plates on the table and then got in my face asking "cash or card" over and over. I felt the host off of her from the beginning. a man who works in the back did his best to make sure we were feeling welcomed and tidying up anything she did wrong, which is why I gave him the tip instead, please beware of certain servers there some of them were side eyeing us. we're black btw we're pretty young but we do have etiquette. We ate here back to back mornings on our trip to Cleveland. Amongst us all we had eggs, meat, pancakes and coffee and everything was cooked to perfection. I have never seen so many over easy eggs cooked so well, and the pancakes were never overcooked and delicious! My daughter said her not burnt bacon was perfect. Also, the coffee was probably the best "diner" coffee I've had in a long time. Service was quick! Our son said he wanted to come back to Cleveland so he could eat breakfast here again. read more

Menu is extensive. Lots of good choices. Most everything we saw our neighbor tables eating looked good. Prices also great and very reasonable. I got a BLT with fries. Both good. I'd get again. My partner got breakfast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns. All looked and tasted great. Staff was a bit hurried and running to keep up. Most tables were filled. This is a classic neighborhood diner. Simple warm and approachable. The food was decent... went with the Gyro and fries. Fries were perfect, gyro was not as warm as it could have been and I prefer sliced onions not diced, but it's what I am used to having been a gyro jokey for 4 years. Called ahead for pickup, it was ready on time. My steak skillet was nice and filling. It had onions, mushrooms and steak over hash browns and cheese with eggs, mines were scrambled with cheese. And the give you steak sauce on the side. It was seasoned well. read more

Sometimes I sneak out of work and go get an omelet. It's fine, it's during my planning period and I'm able to get back because Gus's Diner is always SO PROMPT. If I sit in the restaurant, it's out within 7 minutes. If I order takeout and they tell me ten minutes, it's always ready. It would get 4 stars but the service consistently SUCKS and the food isn't consistent. from my experiences here, I'd comment that the ingredients used and the prep of said food is above par. The execution of the cooking of the food is spotty at best. I think the kitchen staff needs some training from the owner quite frankly. As for the waitresses......HORRIBLE. I try to put out good karma but I really find myself wanting to call it like it is here. WT girls who can't wait on 5-6 tables each and manage to refill drinks once is BAD. Last time I was there may be my last....the first time I never tipped and second time I felt compelled to say something to ANY person at ANY restaurant regarding complaints. The epitome of high-quality food at unbelievably low prices. I mean unbelievable; I still can't figure out how they manage to survive. The portions are plentiful; the food is incredibly delicious; and the staff is as welcoming as your favorite aunt and/or uncle. Convinced by the classic brown coffee mugs and idiosyncratic interior design, we came back for brunch and weren't disappointed! Gus's is exactly what a diner should be. 12:30 on a Tuesday afternoon and the diner was busy serving a diverse crowd, but not so busy that the waitress didn't offer to refill my coffee every time it was half empty. Both the veggie skillet and veggie omelet had plenty of veggies, and there were two hot sauce options (Sriracha and Frank's Red Hot). The hash browns could have been a little crispier, but the fluffy texture and buttery flavor were quite good. If you're looking for a classic American diner, Gus's is the place! read more

The place was pretty crowded, but we were seated and our order taken right away. I usually order the Gyro breakfast, which comes with homefries, toast (I like rye) and eggs (over medium for me) . I also order a side of chopped tomatoes, onion and Tzatiki sauce. My husband ordered the crazy omelet, which contains a little bit of everything....bacon, ham, pepper, onions, tomatoes, cheese etc. and also comes with a side of homefries and toast. Came here for a Saving Cities Brainstorming Session. Overall, I had a good experience. The waitresses weren't phased (fazed?) by our group (12-14 people) and they were pretty efficient. I had the farmer's omelet -- huge omelet chock full of veggies (corn, mushrooms, spinach, etc) with two slices of toast. It was around $5 for the omelet. It was good but not outstanding.
