This chain, along with the one in Troy feels like they're trying to be like a small town grocery store, but it's a sizable store. They definitely have some specialized grocery items and it feels more of a local store than the usual big chains. I have been there to pick up a cold brew coffee and oat milk. The prices tend to be around the same as specialty stores, so definitely a little more than your usual big box stores. I've never found their food quality to be any better than a fancier or nicer specialty store, though. read more

Name is a bit of a misnomer here as this is not a Farmers Market in my opinion but a medium sized grocery store that sells all the basics to include fresh fruits and vegetables. Selection is definately less than say a large Krogers, Walmart or Meijers and prices a tad higher as well from what I can tell. Having said that, if you are in the area and are looking to get some groceries and want to avoid added miles/time traveling to one of the bigger grocery stores chains in the area, than this business will in all likelihood have you covered. read more

The soup section is great and it's close to us so it's convenient to shop here especially if we need something urgently and don't want to drive to Kroger. We will still come here and there is a big but. Several times, we have had issues with spoiled vegetables. If you are gonna charge this much at least do a better job checking for spoiled vegetables. Recently, out of a box of red onions, 3 had to be thrown out. This wasn't a one time occurrence. One more thing: if you shop here, check the expiration, especially on the juice sections. read more

I love Fresh Thyme. Is it more expensive? Yes. But to me, it's worth it. So much organic produce and excellent meats and seafood. Healthier organic staples, cosmetics and supplements, it's just a great grocery store. It's very clean, staff is friendly and welcoming, and they have everything you need without being overly huge. This is such a welcome departure from the big box stores, and I'm happy to support them. Fresh Thyme has some of the best fresh ground peanut butter! I bought some last year after eating out with friends. I purchased the plain peanut which only ingredient is peanuts. It has no extra oil, sugar, or preservatives, so very basic. Once I got home, it did not last! It tasted like cookie dough! The family eat it up within a couple of days. Ever since then, they ask for Fresh Thyme fresh peanut butter. Today we also tried the honey roasted. Superb! I know other places have the fresh ground nut butters, but for some reason, it is marvelous at this location! For those who like to grind the nut butter themselves, unfortunately it is not available due to current events, but that is completely understandable! I also love that they have Cool Haus ice cream. It is really great ice cream from California. They often to do not carry it in larger stores, so I can come here to get some. read more

Once again very disappointed, they advertised "Jumbo" king crab legs on their flyer. I went to the meat counter and what I saw was ridiculous. This is the size they claimed..Jumbo: Jumbo king crab legs are the largest option available. They typically measure around 1 1/4 to 2 pounds per leg and are perfect for sharing between two or more people, this is what I saw at the counter.......Medium: Medium king crab legs are the smallest size you'll come across. They typically weigh around 1/2 to 3/4 pounds per leg and are a good option if you're looking for a lighter meal or a smaller serving size. I've had this type experience before and this is the last straw, don't lie to me and waste my time, I was hoping for an honest description and what I got was an out right LIE......Consider me a lost customer for life....... read more

I have been a fan of Fresh Thyme since I lived in Fort Wayne. The store there was superb, the staff was great and it always felt like a less expensive Whole Foods. I would even get their sushi because it was impossible to find good sushi in Fort Wayne. the sushi chef would usually make it fresh for me. I haven't been to the one here in Farmington Hills, but if people are having the kind of trouble I'm reading about here, then I suggest you contact headquarters in Chicago. They are responsive and take great pride in their store. I cant believe they would not respond immediately. Especially to racial incidences. That is not the image the company wants to portray. Been here many times and it's pretty much hit or miss on inventory and hit or miss when it comes to availability of helpful people. Checking out is uneventful but somewhat lukewarm to cold at times; definitely 5 out of 10 when it comes to a welcomed feeling. For two days in a row I've made a trip to the Farmington location for Salmon fillets advertised in their circular. Out of Stock again, with 5 days left before "sale" is over. Yesterday a sign was posted on service counter that product was out of stock. Ok, it happens, so I made another trip again today. A new sign was up in the department saying "out of stock" and "no rainchecks" would be given. Really? Fresh Thyme carries salmon every day, so why again are they not making it right for a customer? I didn't bother with the rest of my grocery list, and before I left the store I only picked up a small bundle of carnations to add some cheer. On sale next to self-serve check out. Sign said $4.99, but I noticed when I got home that I was charged $6.99 by the scanner. I couldn't bring myself to go back! Miserable!! read more

VERY broad selection of items, especially vegan/organic/non-GMO. But still have things for non-calorie counters . TERRIFIC salad bar, great price. Even had 24 pack of purified drinking water for $1.99 recently. Lots of bulk foods too. I'm guessing you can get just about anything there in the way of food. Specialty cookies too (YUM!). I placed a huge order paid a a generous 25$tip online plus I left 20$cash tip in addition on DoorDash. I get to the front porch, one bag,90%of items missing!! I called the store Thyme who failed to fulfill my order. The gal who answered the phone denying their store filled my order ,LYING& NASTY ATTITUDE. Again trying to support local small businesses but total fail,so I ordered from Whole Foods under my Amazon prime. Total wonderful experience with refund on fruit that was spoiled. I spent over 500$&LIMITED TO 99 items but shouldn't be a limit,I would've ordered more. We just moved and I needed to fill my pantry,refrigerator and freezer. Very nice and convenient to have a healthy food grocer in downtown Farmington. The people who work there are very helpful - sorta like a trader Joe's feel. But, like any grocery store some things are more expensive than other items. For example, the fruit was more expensive but much of the baked good goods, dairy, etc seemed reasonably priced. This is a convenient stop for me after working out. But it doesn't make it "convenient". Don't get me wrong. This place is great. The customer service gives you that small town feel where everyone stops to say hello if you're a regular. But.. there's no alfredo sauce. There's a Vegan option with artichokes priced at $8 but no... regular alfredo sauce. Oh and it's the one white jar in the jungle of marinara and tomato sauce folks. Keep looking and you'll find it. Oh and the can/bottle returns can be fickle. Sometimes the machine takes specific color of la crioux and sometimes they don't. The soda cans Fresh Thyme rejects are unquestionably accepted at places like Buschs, Meijer and Kroger that are close by. So although it's in a great location, there are some things about how this grocery store operates that makes it unnessarily complicated when compared to it's competitors. Don't be surprised if you aren't able to check everything off your list unless you're lucky! However, it's clean and organized and has a great store brand selection of snacks and wine. I've been a fan of Fresh Thyme for a few years. First found them in St. Louis. When they came to the Detroit area the stores are worth the drive. Now I've got one in the neighborhood and I'm super happy. Great prices on produce and meats. Sales are great. Deli prices are average and the pre-made foods are very good. Other food items including beer and wine are priced fairly and very competitive. The vitamin and supplement section is fantastic. read more

.This is a great store! It reminds me a lot of the Sprouts store back home in California, and a little of a Trader Joe's. I came in looking for powdered milk to carry with me on my trip to use in a pinch if there was no half and half available. I really dislike powdered creamer. I was surprised that they had no powdered milk here except for a $13 can of goat's milk. That might have done the job but I wasn't prepared to spend $13. I was hoping to find some bulk powdered milk so I could just buy a small quantity to keep handy. I figured if I bought it in here it might be better quality than if I got it in a grocery store. Along the way I found a container of mixed nuts that looked like it would make good road food and a small container of lavender Castile liquid soap that is one of my favorites so I bought both of them instead of the powdered milk. Both clerks I had occasion to deal with were friendly and helpful the overall ambience of the store waa very comfortable. I'm sure I would be shopping in here a lot if I lived in town. read more

I asked how long it would be she didn't know. I am compelled to give Fresh Thyme a 5-star rating. As a cooking enthusiast, they deliver selections that until now you could only find at the specialty food stores. And they charge less. Their butcher shop is one of the best values in all of Detroit when you look at quality, selection and price. Their organic produce selection is great too. As far as some of the complaints in other reviews, I cannot speak to their salad bar. Never tried it. Bulk foods also - rarely buy them. Their coffee beans are priced well but I do find better deals on-line. Check-out wise, in 50 or so visits, I may have had 2 or 3 longer wait times. If you like to cook with fresh organic ingredients, then you should visit Fresh Thyme. read more

More recently I've noticed how expensive Fresh Thyme really is. Still less expensive than a specialty produce market like Joe's but nowhere near the quality. Case in point...I came last week to gather some bulk ingredients for granola. I purchased some nuts to add that I didn't bother tasting before I added them to the mix. They were the Sriracha almonds. Later I noticed that they had turned and tasted off almost rancid. It got me wondering how often those bulk bins are actually changed out. Do they simply add fresh on top of the old or do they remove the bins, empty and throw out the old potentially spoiled contents, clean said bin and then refill? The unsweetened banana chips I wanted to purchase wouldn't dispense being all stuck together, as if there was excess moisture in the bin. I'm sure they do a fine job freshening their merchandise but even the dried guava and the papaya seemed really sweet and didn't taste like a dried version of itself. I think I'll stick to paying a little more to know exactly what I'm getting rather than hoping the flavor and quality is there. 2.5 stars read more

Always have a good experience here. I love their selection of items and I get items from their cold bar every time I go. Only thing that ever bums me out is when I go and they don't have dolma out on that bar! They also used to have a vegetarian three bean chili that was phenomenal. I rarely give a five but this is a well deserved five star. They have incredible sales and organic options. They have fresh chicken sausages that are awesome. They have fresh apple cider vinegar, honey, olive oil and maple syrup. You can also get freshly made sushi. This is a place that is going to get a lot of my money. I don't know if that good or bad. Based on a friend's recommendation, I tried their Ultimate Italian Sausage - perhaps the best sausage I've ever had! Highly recommend. I work down the street and I try their salad bar every now and then. Unfortunately the lettuce is ALWAYS nasty. Other than Joe's Produce, it's the only salad bar around. My coworkers complain about the salad bar all the time. The market itself is great!!! The lettuce, being a grocery store should be fresh and crisp. Far from it. I've complained to employees at the market before but nothing's improved. That might be the bigger problem. read more

This is newly started in downtown Farmington... it's a very well stocked and the place is arranged and always so tidy... they have a bakery aisle wher some times u get good fresh products... they also have a sushi station wher they prepare fresh sushi's to go... the vegetables and fruits are all arranged so well and are fresh when ever I have been there... they might be a bit more compared to other places but it's worth it coz of the freshness ... they also have a variety of dry fruits...they have a salad and a olive bar too read more

I was so excited to see some new grocery options coming to my area. I had actually never heard of Fresh Thyme before but I happened to see their ad for the new Farmington location and I couldn't wait to check it out! Overall, I like having the variety that some of the other bigger chain stores don't have. Our produce has been pretty hit or miss so far, but it seems to be improving as time goes on. They have a pretty wide variety of items - everything from deli to grocery to cleaning supplies and body care. I'm not always able to get out to that side of town, but when I am out that way, I always make it a point to stop in and grab a few things! read more

Nice to have fresh thyme near by. No need to go till Northville. Always love the fresh produce here. I can see the place is busy at 9pm, then I can imagine how much busy in the morning to get bag of free groceries. Nice location only thing might be little tough to find parking. Hope there is some parking in the street behind it. I visit to get organic produce, snacks, diary. I ways get lot of organic snacks for my son. Also I like the trail mixes there. read more
