Fresh Thyme is still one of the most wonderful places in St. Louis Park as far as I am concerned. I can count on them to have amazing products of all kinds, including an excellent selection of supplements and functional beverages. They have some fantastic alcohol alternatives, including kava and CBD (including--hooray!--THC-free options) for those in need of chill in a can. Today, though, I want to focus on why I will be making many more visits for the foreseeable future. My friends, the Andes Gifts textiles are in. I repeat: Andes Gifts knitted goods are in! If you know, you know. If you don't, let me tell you. These fair-trade knitted accessories are not only warm as heck (thanks to the fleece-lined alpaca) but also absolutely darling. With everything from headbands to flippers to socks, you will find something to keep your extremities toasty. I personally favor the animal hats (and have purchased at least a dozen over the years). Available in sizes for kids and adults, these unique hats are guaranteed to get you smiles and giggles when gifted (or worn). I'm not much for impulsive stop ins. I was a late Fresh Thyme fan as there were so few of them and they were not located near by. I was in SLP and in front of the FTM and decided to browse for salad bags and found the biggest selection at reasonable prices. While I was heading in to get a look around at the store that I've never been to, I spotted that there was a sale. I got the items that I wanted. I proceeded to look around at this location I've never been to before and five minutes in looking around at the store I noticed I was being followed by the secret shoppers here. I was racially profile and I know this because as someone that worked closely with secret shoppers in my past, the first thing that they are taught is to follow anybody who looks like they are fitting this description: their face is covered, they have a mask of some sort, they have a lot of pockets and wearing dark-colored colored clothing with lots of pockets. They were simply following me because I was black in a white neighborhood. In fact, I was wearing brightly colored clothes with a beige wool jacket, an Afro with no face mask. I had no pockets on my pants! My jackat had two small pockets. The only reason that I know he was a secret shopper was because he faked picking up an item and scanned his card into the self-checkout machine which loudly exclaimed that he was a secret shopper. The secret shopper looks to be of South Asian descent and about 5"6. Please do some racial sensitivity training with your team because this is actually ridiculous. My first visit to Fresh Thyme began with the overwhelming smell of rotting meat as I exited my car. I could not believe that smell was coming from a grocery store. There was no smell inside so decided to grab my groceries. This was on a Sunday and perhaps all the good produce had been bought? Much of what was left was old and tired looking. I bought what looked like it might last a couple of days and left. I've heard this was a fresh, less expensive store. Less expensive than Kowalski's but not fresh at all. As I said this was a Sunday late afternoon, so maybe there had been a run on the produce. Definitely a disappointment. read more

I'm a big fan of Fresh Thyme! They offer a great variety of fresh fruits, veggies, meats, and flowers! Since they've got the health/farmers market brand they've got all the favorite organic/blank-free/alternative options which I love. My favorite things are: - Fresh squeezed orange juice, only about $6 for the largest size, that is a STEAL not just a deal! - Mediterranean orzo salad - comes in the to go tubs or at the salad bar, I love that they have this because not a lot of grocery stores do! - Sausage from the deli, usually about $1.99 per lb The team members here are also very friendly. I live a block away, and this store is my go-to place for groceries. The small footprint makes it easy to find what I need and get in and get out, especially since they've added several self-checkout lanes (but I do kinda miss chatting with the check-out folks). Even with the small footprint, they manage to have a wide variety of options ... deli, plenty of produce, butcher, fresh juice, bulk food, grab & go. There was a nice salad bar before covid ... wish they'd bring that back ... but they do have premade salads and self-serve soup. Definitely worth visiting. Very similar to area co-ops like Wedge and Steward and specialty grocers like Trader Joes and Whole Foods. They offer a wide range of meats, produce, snacks, vitamins and typical grocery items all at pricers similar to TJs. When I went there were blueberries 2/$3, lemons 3/$1. They offer a mix of known food brands as well as non-major ones (similar to the aforementioned places). There's also a large number of bulk items such as grains, nuts, trail mix, candies, coffee beans, spices, as well as vinegars. You'll also find a meat counter, deli, food bar (with soups), whole rotisserie chickens, and a juice bar/counter with samples and recipes for those wanting to try something new at home. Oh and right in front of the juice bar are more spices, the kind you'd typically find at a Latin Grocer which are good in price. If you're looking to eat while there, lucky for you they've got a seating area. Anyway, again, worth visiting and while there stop by the attached liquor store. I have dabbled in Fresh Thyme a couple times, it is the closest grocery store to my house now, so one time we got gummy bears for a kid project (they stayed soft a long time!) another time I just got a few basic groceries. This time I took my whole list but I was telling myself "you are so dumb for going to an expensive store with this whole list." I had it in my mind it was more Whole Foods / Wedge than Trader Joe's. But overall, I think I was wrong. Some of the pasta was $.99. For the prices that I do know off the top of my head, they were pretty much right on, and I shop at Aldi, Target, Cub, and more. They had some national mainstream brands, some healthier, more organic brands, and plenty of FreshThyme brands, which were affordable. Since I didn't know my way around the store I asked for a lot of help and the people were exceptionally friendly. In fact, I got asked if I needed help probably five times. Like Whole Foods, they also had multiple aisles of body care products. They had refrigerated pickles. They had coconut milk yogurt. They had a deli section, fresh meat section, little tables were you could eat your own lunch, a fresh salad bar that looked really good and still the store was more Trader Joe's sized, than humongous Whole Foods. This was such a terrible experience. All the groceries were old, grapes leaking out of the bags cause they were so rotten! I am so extremely disappointed! Even apples were bruised and way too soft, old!! I came here for the grand opening and was extremely impressed. They have not kept up their wowness! I questioned one of the employees about it. He mentioned that they have a new manager and he/she had trouble keeping up with ordering food. This is not an excuse! The manager should have been updated on the duties/responsibilities upon a role change. The employees were nice. Shopped at Fresh Thyme market in St Louis Park today. You can find free parking on Excelsior Blvd, the store's own ramp you enter from the east side of the building or at one of two ramps within a couple of blocks from the store! The store was neat, clean and well organized. They have the largest supplement selection in any co-op or grocery store I have ever seen and let me tell you I have seen a lot! Jan 3-10 2018 their vitamins & personal care items are 33% off!!! Oh man these prices are better than Amazon! Some items like Burt's Bees & Emergen-C are cheaper at Amazon even with the sale. I picked up some great deals on supplements. This store has a decent bulk section but more candy than I expected which is at kid's eye level. They did not have bulk oat flour I use for pancakes...bummer. Tongs are used for the raisins and it took FOREVER to get a pound using those darn things...get a scooper bulk manager. Bulk organic coffee of their own brand was $9.99/lb but the French Roast didn't have any sheen to the beans as we like them oily looking for more richness so we passed them up. There's a salad bar but you cannot see the seating however there is one after the checkout lanes. The refrigerator section is huge with about every kind of yogurt - I prefer Silk (blueberry or vanilla are my favorites). Price was the same as less expensive stores. Yogi Tea was $1 cheaper than Amazon and co-ops @ $3.99/Box. Organic avocados were 4 @ $5.00 but they need to ripen. You will have to look for organic because the majority of produce is conventional, not organic but there is some. They had the usual meat, cheese and bakery sections which I breezed past to stick to my New Year's Resolution to push back (from the table)...looked good from what I saw! Employees were nice and helpful. They could use more employees in the supplements section as I only saw one who was busy answering questions while other customers waited a bit. We will DEFINITELY be back on a more regular basis. I imagine Trader Joe's which is a block away is going to have serious competition! read more

I LOVE this Fresh Thyme!! Every Wednesday they have what is called Double Coupon day. Which basically means the two weekly ads will overlap so more products are on sale. With that being said I am here almost every single Wednesday without fail. I love the selection and the friendly staff. The staff behind the butcher counter is especially friendly and are great with suggestions when you need it. They have a wide variety of products available at very affordable prices. Their produce also seems to last longer than some of the other grocery stores in the area. Also, they have a large supplement section available if that is something you are looking for. Everything from vitamins to proteins and everything in between. Finally, they have a decent parking lot. While it gets tight sometimes there has always been a space available. They also have a few street spots available as well. Overall, if you are looking for a grocery store with quality products at great prices. Look no further than Fresh Thyme. read more

Fresh Thyme has bulk bins that are awesome. And I liked the no bake cookies I picked up on sale from their own bakery. There's definitely items here that I dont see other places. And yet. It happened that this is the second FTFM store in the Twin Cities that I've visited within a week of its opening, and it's also the second store where I've seen strawberries so moldy that they caught my eye from a good ten feet away. Eww. Also, did I miss a second parking lot? BC the small underground lot I visited was tight. I cant believe there's two way traffic in there. It made the TJs lot right down the street seem fun and relaxing! I was really excited for the model of this grocery store- affordable fresh groceries. For the most part the produce has been fine. I will say that the produce I bring home is rotten within 24 hours more often than produce I purchase from other stores, even after careful inspection prior to purchase. The deals are great but come with the caveat of freshness not being guaranteed. The berries are very cheap and have not been an issue. I like that there is a mix of ripe and unripe avocados to choose from. Other fruits have been hit or miss with regard to freshness. I do like the deli, and would like to try the made to order pizzas and sandwiches. The meat selection and seafood selection look good too. Bulk selection is great. There's tons of candy and chocolate. I wish they had bulk dried fruit! The staff working here are great. I just wish the produce could live up to the name of the store. read more

I returned to Fresh Thyme last week and had a much more pleasant experience. I think it takes a new store a little while to get a rhythm and this was no exception! Here is what I like: great prices on produce! Bananas and honey crisps were priced better than Cub. The deli is super great, and I love a good deli. I did not notice food was expired this time, which is a nice touch! You can find a decent selection on a lot of foods you won't find anywhere else, which is great. They have deals! I bought a 24 pack of water for $1.99! I also noticed that there were more cashiers working, and did not see any of the employees jump in front of customers to ring up their dinners, so that was good! I'm moving to Richfield and will be changing my Fresh Thyme to Bloomington so I'll let you know what I think. I may be this stores biggest fan girl! I definitely waited and stalked the site to see when it was going to open up. Finally on opening day, I was definitely one of the first 250 people in line (61st actually). I have been to this location several times since then. The produce section is fantastic! It makes me just want to eat all the fresh food. They have a pizza bar that has been great when they have a option that is desirable (sometimes TBH sometimes the staff has questionable choices). They have a excellent salad bar (that prices lower than the competing locations in the area). They have a covered park lot which is great, just need to be prepared since some older drivers don't exactly know how to drive in a parking lot...but I genuinely think this will change as the store progresses. Their bulk section is amazing! So many options! It is pure bliss for sure! Most of their national brand items are priced lower than competing retailers near by which is awesome! read more

I find that so many grocery stores struggle to keep produce stocked and/or have a healthy looking selection. I go to Fresh Thyme about two times a month and have never had an issue finding something in stock. Also, for the area, the parking situation is pretty darn good with the store's own ramp parking in the back. A huge step above the TJ's parking lot just down the road! read more

My experience at Fresh Thyme was certainly a roller coaster ride! I had never heard of the grocery chain before and as we were driving past I noticed it and got super excited! It looked like my kind of place so we decided to pay it a visit. Upon entering our first impression was a solid one! It had a wide variety of groceries that I could eat for a cheaper price than the Co-Op we tend to shop at. I was able to find most of my specialty items although they did not carry my Enjoy Life chocolate chips, which was a bit of a bummer. We initially purchased some snacks for the road (their in store juicery is a nice touch! I loved my beet juice!) but upon leaving the store we decided to grab our bulk jars from the car and come back to load up on some spices. Sadly, they were out of many of the spices we were looking for. The spice section provided a scale and a marker but there were no stickers or tags for labeling. I had to grab some tags from the other bulk section instead. My partner weighed out some cinnamon and we gathered a few things from the salad bar, all in our reusable jars. When we went to check out the staff seemed perplexed that we had provided our own containers and it created quite the problem. It took 3 separate cashier's to help us before we were finally able to check out. The scale we had weighed our cinnamon on was apparently inaccurate as what should have been .3 ounces came to .5 ounces at the cashier scale and the price difference was more than we were willing to accommodate. If we had wanted .5 ounces of cinnamon we would have weighed it out as such in the back. The staff dumped the cinnamon in front of us and mumbled about how wasteful we were. We did NOT want the cinnamon to go to waste but we simply had not planned on purchasing $20 worth of cinnamon at that time. The cashier helping us (the third one, the previous two were super friendly but confused) did not smile once and seemed bothered by our existence. It is such a bummer that our experience was this negative as the grocery store itself is lovely and I would really love to return. We may stop in again if we are in the area for snack items or pre-packaged goods but we will stick with our co-op for our bulk items as they are usually well stocked and it is not a hassle to use our own jars. Fresh Thyme is worth checking out if you are on a restricted diet or if you want some really nice produce but I would recommend avoiding their bulk section unless you support single use plastic bags. read more

So imagine if Trader Joe's, the Co-op and Cub Food's got a little frisky and had a big giant grocery store baby - Yep! You got the picture - that's Fresh Thyme! I absolutely LOVE shopping here. Their produce always has great sales pricing depending on what's going on that day. I loved that I could get diffferent fresh berries at $1 on a freaking snow day (YAS!). My second favorite thing is their freshly squeezed orange juice which they bottle in store fresh (you know because the bottles are a little sticky lol). It's on the pricey side but a true crowd pleaser when you offer freshly squeezed orange juice to yourself or your friends and loved ones if they stop by. My third favorite thing is that they slice up their store-baked breads for you upon request - it's so nice to know exactly where your sliced bread came from. I also love their service in general from customer service to the range of services they offer! They're splendid bunch. My final stamp of approval and most important is the free produce area they have for kids (a Dietitian's dream!). I find this so thoughtful and gives families a platform to possibly share a learning moment with the tots. Love this! Was excited to have a Fresh Thyme Farmers Market open nearby! Walking in the store reminded me of my favorite West Coast chain, Sprouts. The bulk section cannot be beat and the focus on produce is welcomed. 4 stars since a lot of the products that were featured on their Weekly Ad were out of stock. Every time I visit this fresh thyme I find something new that I like. Their bakery, meat counter, produce, bulk goods, and liquor store all have high quality items with competitive prices. The weekly ad deals they run on meat and produce are pretty unbeatable compared to other healthy grocery stores nearby. I also really appreciate the variety of products they have. This place is the Target of grocery stores. You come here with a solid small list of things to buy and end up leaving with a cartful of miscellaneous stuff that you never thought you needed in your life (or in this case, your fridge or pantry). Everything is beautifully organized in this spacious, clean store. They have an amazing selection of affordable produce, meats, ready-made food items, vitamins, bulk items, salad and olive bar, and more! Check out their weekly specials because there are some SERIOUS good deals here. Their berries are always super cheap and I always stock up when they have salmon for 5.99/lb. They also have tuna poke for $8.99/lb which is incredibly affordable and makes for a quick yet elevated meal. This store is shiny & new and pretty phenomenal. So why the 3 star rating you ask? Just like her sister store in Plymouth, this place is pretty spendy. I came grand opening week, so I got some pretty sweet deals, but otherwise, this place ain't cheap. It reminds me a lot of a combo of Trader Joe's & Whole Foods. Prices more on the Whole Foods side of things. The worst place to work at, the staff will use you to the core, they will make sure you will always be working 24/7 and are always up to something. They only give you 10 min breaks instead of 15 minutes just like anywhere else and even if you worked 4 or 5 hours- I consider it labor to the core. They will use the younger workers more than the older workers. The supervisors/managers will be gossiping about their own employees and the minimum wage in that particular area is about $14.50 and they offer way less. In conclusion, I suggest you never work here ever unless you want to get treated bad. read more

Today I went in to get a sandwich and was extremely disappointed. I ordered a roast beef sandwich (which I have ordered twice before and loved it) and was honestly disgusted when I took a bite. Opened the sandwich and the meat was not quality.. I'm not sure what the person who made this sandwich was thinking when they served this. Waste of money. Will not be ordering this again. Love Fresh Thyme. The only thing that bothers me is that the prices at the St Louis Park location are slightly higher than other locations. Or maybe the other location prices are slightly less... Tomato/ tomahto.. I love that I don't get swayed into finding bad food there. Large corporate super markers are filled with bad food items which I'm tempted to buy instead of real quality food. Welcome to the neighborhood Fresh Thyme! Conveniently located just down the street from Trader Joe's (which I already and will continue to frequent), Fresh Thyme has come to play in the health conscious/co-op/specialty grocer chain game. There is certainly overlap between FTFM, TJ's, Whole Foods and local co-ops, but they have plenty to stand out. At their butcher counter, you can get fresh pork and chicken sausages made in house (tons of amazing flavors like chorizo, buffalo, hot Italian, and many more), organic produce (including a wide variety of potatoes, squash and apples that a lot of other stores only offer conventionally), bulk foods like nuts/seeds, grains, rice, dried fruit and trail mixes (many organic options included, and some items priced far below what you'll pay elsewhere). If you're looking for organic living herbs like basil, rosemary, mint and thyme, they have those too. I mean, you can't really call yourself Fresh Thyme and not have fresh thyme available for sale...that would just be false advertising! ;) The store is much larger than Trader Joe's and they carry more brand name items than TJ's, but they still have their own private label (often organic) goods in most departments, including organic lip balm at the checkout that I'm totally obsessed with. They have weekly sales, which often offer an even deeper discount on already well-priced items...5 lb bag of organic red potatoes for 1.99? Yes please! 4 count bag of organic avocados for $2.99? That's a no brainer! The really cool thing is that if you shop on Wednesdays, both the previous week's ad and the new ad are valid. You obviously run the risk of stock being low on some items that have been on sale for a week, but if you always plan to shop on Wednesdays, you can get first crack at the new items, and stock up again a week later if they still have what you want! Their free covered parking ramp (entrance on the NW corner of the building) is so much easier to deal with than the parking trap down the street at TJ's, and it's so nice not to have to carry your groceries outside in the rain/cold/snow! That's something that no other grocer around town can offer. I'm still discovering new things about Fresh Thyme, but so far I like what I see! Give 'em a try...you probably will too! read more

Needed a break from the dingy, depressing, mediocre Cub monopoly and checked out Fresh Thyme on their opening weekend. It has a nice feel to it and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I've been back about 4 times since and the only issue I have is that they need to keep things stocked better. I've stopped on Saturday afternoons a few times, on the way home and things that I came in for are just GONE! I'd like to see them expand the deli to include their tasty chicken salad and tuna salad.
