The setup will be familiar to anyone who has visited one of the many assembly line quick serve spots that have multiplied across America, but the ingredients here seemed fresher, healthier, and considerably more interesting. Then came the surprise. I ordered a vegetarian bowl. Not because I had planned to. Not because I had undergone a spiritual awakening. It simply happened. I chose cauliflower rice, Sriracha honey Brussels sprouts, Buffalo cauliflower, roasted mushrooms instead of a traditional protein, and creamy wasabi sauce. The young woman kindly asked if I was a vegetarian and pointed out that they offered tofu. I declined, partly out of stubbornness and partly because the bowl already looked complete. Everything tasted excellent. The Brussels sprouts were outstanding. The Buffalo cauliflower had just enough kick. The mushrooms brought a satisfying earthiness to the whole affair. If I have one small complaint, the cauliflower rice was a little dry. Fortunately, the creamy wasabi sauce solved the problem immediately. What impressed me most was the service. The young woman who helped me at the counter later came by my table to make sure I was enjoying my meal. That sort of attention is becoming rare enough to qualify as noteworthy. The restaurant was spotless, the food was flavorful and the people were kind. Not much more you could ask for. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for another bowl.

For being a brand new restaurant, the garbage was overflowing, the tables & floors dirty, the walls scuffed and damaged and even our table was unstable, lopsided and/or poorly assembled. Color me impressed! But back to that allium-free thing: there are usually limited options at places that claim they have a menu for those restrictions, but we could have most of the menu here! My youngest is allergic to wheat, eggs, avocado, peanuts (iffy since this is a Thai restaurant), tree nuts, pineapples, and kiwi, but he could have a decent amount of things as well. They also have a gluten-free sauce option so he doesn't have to miss out on flavor! The menu is actually primarily vegan for the most part but you can add egg for an additional $1. It can go either way though. In addition, spice level and items that contain wheat/gluten are indicated on the menu. They have sections for appetizers, soup, curries, noodles, dishes with rice, fried rice, dessert, and drinks. We ended up getting a little bit of everything (all allium free) because we weren't sure what our youngest would like: ROTI - I got this for my eldest, who is picky. But she loves carbs. I'm not sure if they would have provided another bowl of rice because it would have been too small if it were for my husband, who is a bottomless pit for rice (he would have needed 2-3 of those bowls at least). Mild with a nice sweetness from the mango. Owner is Buddhist; traditional Buddhist cuisine is allium-free, which explains the extensive options for those who follow that diet. AND both of my kids liked something there.
