While Paneras is a soup and sandwich mainstay, I must complain about this one. Located in the center of Rutgers University, this Paneras has a built in clientele. The decor is old and beat up. The tables are sticky from glue and other stuff, as student work as they eat - this is understandable. But I just felt dirty sitting there. The food was a problem. When ordering, they were out of most of the salads. No onion or basil either. And as I'm told by my son, this is the norm. @MANAGEMENT - How can you not know supply and demand after having been here for years?? Order better. Clean up and have food in stock. read more

Came back to this student-staffed Panera location recently on a weekday to see if it improved any since my initial review 4 years ago. Nope. It's still a massive clusterflop with a gaggle of masked and unmasked luddites waiting to order in person at the cash register instead of ordering via app or in-store kiosk. Half of the drink dispensers were empty, including the Iced Colombian Dark Roast that I came here for. The only people eating inside were family members of students, and the outdoor patio seating was virtually unused. I knew better than to order actual food here and decided to head to a dining hall instead. read more

Happy Tuesday my fellow Adventurers! Stopped by here on the first day of classes and I'm happy I did because I got my coffee fix. They make a decent caramel latte, should have splurged on the extra shot of espresso because this 3 hour class is going to be rough. The set up is very much like the franchised Panera's you see everywhere. Seating though is most likely not enough for the amount of students that frequent the location. They make have wanted to expand a little more in order to allow more seating. I will be stopping by here to test out the food since it's a Panera and they're soups are really delicious. read more

I love Panera but this location has much to live up to. I ordered a you pick two with a sandwich and salad to go since I only had a brief lunch break today. I usually consider myself pretty forgiving but SO MANY things went wrong. The avocados in my sandwich were unripe. The salad came with the wrong dressing. They did not include my roll with the order. There was also a bug in my salad... beyond just a simple mistake, there were things that happened that are a clear lack of training and attention to detail. Super disappointed by this location.... super frugal with their ingrediants, i ordered the chipotle chicken breakfast wrap that was extremely soggy andd the wrap was definitely old.. had to throw it out. I ordered a half Caesar salad for lunch... and this was me "adding extra vegetabless" and my container was BARELY to the half mark... croutons were stale..I mean its lettuce for godsake.. Id have better luck picking up a Caesar salad kit for $2 instead...def not coming back to this one again.- read more

Panera Bread - Soup Near Me - New Brunswick, New Jersey

I come here all the time because it's so convenient and fast. My favorite soup is from here and it's only seasonal- the summer corn chowder soup. The soup is so flavorful, and doesnt take like corn at all, contrary to the name. It has a heavier onion/potato/creamy flavor profile more so than corn. It's delicious and I would recommend this soup alone 12/10. When the soup isn't available, I always get the cream of tomato soup which is also delicious and hearty. My favorite salad is the Thai chicken salad- which I get without the chicken and add a lot more vegetables. The dressing is delicious and the salad is filling. Also, the chocolate chipper cookie is one of my favorites compared to others I've had. The only downside is that it's pricey for simple foods like salads, sandwiches and baked goods. Service is always fast and so easy to order and customize on the kiosk. read more

I saw the poor reviews for this Panera, so didn't expect much when I ordered the rapid delivery here, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Got a pick two sandwich and soup, cookie and a coffee. I ordered, and then walked there from class about 5 minutes away. It was ready about a minute after I got there. My order was accurate and hot, had napkins and a spoon already in there, ready to go. This was my first visit here, so maybe it just happened to be a good day, but I have absolutely no complaints. I usually avoid writing bad reviews, but I have little sympathy for pseudo-trendy, overpriced chains, especially when the food is bad. Not like this will impact their business, maybe just save other poor unsuspecting college students. This Panera location is substandard. I have ordered the turkey avocado sandwich many times at other locations. This place obviously employed a lot of students who don't give a damn or just aren't trained at all. I don't care that it's new, service at a chain is supposed to be consistent. Strike one: they didn't call our order out so we were sitting forever wondering whether we'd ever get our food. Strike two: The sandwich was presented with only the bread sliced... none of the other ingredients like this super thickly sliced turkey or bacon were separated. I returned the sandwich to the kitchen because I deserved better for $10. Just picture how ridiculous this sandwich looked because I was too hungry to take a picture. Strike three: All the ingredients were concentrated towards the middle. This resulted in a solid half-inch of JUST BREAD. Not even condiments. Literally took 5 bites of completely bland bread. You call yourself a bakery? With service like this for the price of $10 you best believe I'm not coming back. Panera Bread is finally open on College Ave! You can't really compare this location with a real full service Panera, but I'm always happy to have more options on campus. A few things: - Everything is in to-go packaging, which is understandable considering the location is too small to accommodate the normal waitstaff. I wish there was a way to order for here, if only to save unnecessary trash from each order vs reusable plates/bowls. - there is both counter service and self service kiosks, so yay, the ability to order w/o very little human interaction! Also the kiosks, located at both entrances, make it quick to order food, even when very busy, there is almost never a wait. - your name appears on this giant screen next to the register as your order is either being prepared or ready. Because it gets loud, you often can't hear the poor staff calling your name, but just check the board, and your name will also be on the receipt attached to your order! - That being said, make sure to double check your order before you leave, the last time I left w/o a scone I ordered in my bag, and another time with out a side of bread. They are definitely working out some kinks as they experience the full force of hungry Rutgers students this semester. The past 3 times I've come here I specifically said and ordered the Vanilla Madagascar Cream drink and they never put it in the system right so the Barista makes it wrong. One time it came out as Almond and I never said Almond, imagine if I was allergic to nuts.... wow. Then I got a Vanilla iced late like come on now. Awful just awful read more

Disappointing to all the other Panera breads. I went here last night, ordered broccoli cheddar soup with a French baguette. When I received my order I got potato chips? I kindly asked the worker for bread instead and they said they were out. Doesn't Panera BREAD pride themselves on their bread? All I wanted was a nice onion soup on a cold and rainy day. Sadly, the soup was awful. My guess is that the soup comes pre-made, and the cook needs to add water to it before giving it to customers. This panera deserves way more credit than it is receiving. Everything is optimized for takeout because the majority audience is college students and it's easier to just throw out utensils and paper plates. Seating is relatively tight and I usually find a spot. (If not just go sit at the student center next door.) Quality of food meets and exceeds expectations on several occasions. I love Panera, however this location, not so much! The half-sandwich was more like a quarter of a sandwich. The avocados weren't cut all the way through so they were clumped together. If I could give this establishment 0 stars, I would. They are always out of Mac and cheese and the place JUST OPENED. Most people go to Panera for its signature Mac and Cheese and the fact that they are not able to offer it past the time of 11:00 in the morning is absurd. Secondly, they do not have any of the food buzzers that they have at all other Panera locations. With the place always being packed with college students, it is nearly impossible to hear when your order is ready. Then to add to it, the food is placed in smaller portions than normal and does not meet the Panera standards that most people are used to. The French Onion soup was placed in a DIXIE CUP sized PAPER bowl and my salad came in a small FEDEX box. I DID NOT ORDER THIS TO GO. They do not offer the option to eat in with regular human sized bowls made from ceramic material or actual metal spoons. MAYBE THAT IS BECAUSE THERE IS NO WHERE TO SIT IN THE WHOLE PLACE. I was contemplating sitting on the floor. My food tasted so bad. The put some sort of pickled radish in my Greek salad??? Never want that to happen again. Also, my friend got almonds in her Greek salad and Almonds don't even grow in the soil of Greece. I really was so disappointed that my friend and I threw out our salads and my soup.
