I ordered food from here via DoorDash last month with my family. I cannot remember what everyone got, but I had the Chicken Nachos and my husband had the Birria Tacos. I really liked the nachos , they were very flavorful, fresh, and filling - I saved half for my husband. When my husband opened his container there was an obvious bite mark out of one of the tacos - he took his chances and ate the other ones since he was starving. We're assuming someone from the restaurant did this since the bag was sealed upon delivery. The tacos happened to have special pricing that day so we joked about it being part of the deal lol. I came here with my husband after a long morning of scuba diving and and I must say, this place hit the spot. I knew the food was gonna be good when I walled through the door and saw the mexican grocery store selections. I'd like to note that parking was super easy and the restaurant was also very well marked. That's always a plus, especially if you're looking for a quick bite to fuel you after a long morning. The menu was very well rounded, and I did appreciate the pictures that accompanied the options. Ordering was very easy, and the woman at the register was kind and attentive. There's seating in the restaurant, and I appreciated how clean everything was. The good came out very quick, and it really does taste as good as it looks. The al pastor tacos were my favorite, but I also had a tamale and enchiladas because I was super hungry. Our server came and checked on us and made sure we were well taken care of and even had a little conversation with us. I found this place when searching for a new spot to try Authentic Mexican food. I fell in love with the entire ambiance of the place as well as the friendliness of the staff. They had a small selection of aguas frescas, We tried the Jamaica, & the horchata which I didn't take a picture of. The Birria tacos with the consome, were delicious. They have a variety of food options on their menu but I went ahead with their Shrimp & Al Pastor tacos. I can say my taste buds were dancing, especially with their side sauces. This is IT! As soon as I walked in, I had a good feeling. Nice clean restaurant, bright atmosphere, not too fancy, combination Mexican grocery/restaurant... These are all the signs of a hidden gem. The first dish I tried were the sopes. If you haven't tried sopes, you need to roll your ass out of bed and drive to Frida's right now. Sopes are a direct upgrade of tacos. And the sopes at Frida's check every box. Warm, crispy masa dough that isn't too thick and soft in the middle? Check. Layer of beans (black, actually, which I've never seen) topped by a generous layer of juicy seasoned meat? Check. A decadent crown of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, crumbled cotija cheese and a little sour cream? Check. My queen has come and demanded the undivided attention of my taste buds. And they obey graciously! Don't let me forget the house made salsas. The red salsa is ACTUALLY HOT. Don't you hate when you ask for something spicy and it tastes like Tapatio? Their red salsa brings a deep, roasted chile flavor and plenty of bite to back it up. About half way through the meal I was feeling a built up, saliva inducing, nose running, sweat bringing, drink grabbing heat. It was beautiful. Finally we have the environment and service. They have someone who can speak both English and Spanish so don't worry if your Spanish isn't great. It's a combination of a restaurant and mini grocery store. I tried the carne asada burrito. It was very tasty. It consisted of carne asada, rice, beans, pico de Gallo, sour cream, lettuce, guacamole, and cheese. Ingredients were fresh. The gauc and sour cream made the burrito nice and moist. I decided to add some salsa verde to the mix which was yummy. Tacos were ok but the meat had a boiled texture to it which was kinda weird but had decent flavor. The torta was very good except for the meat as well, same as the tacos. We ordered some chicken, steak and pork tacos, a pork tamale, a chicken burrito and a broiled chicken dinner. I'm very picky about tacos. I don't like meats that are chewy.
