The staff is absolutely incredible - they are so kind and amazing I had the Birria Tacos which were so flavorful and crunchy, these are some of the best i've ever had! We had free tequila shots and half off margaritas and they were so tasty! We also got fresh guacamole, chicken and steak fajitas, birria gorditas (which is the first place i know that serves this!), and the que me ves tacos, which were all insanely good! After living in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY for 5 years in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood, I got to really know the flavors of authentic cuisine from our close neighbors south of the border. I would compare the food at Mr. Taco to the authentic food I've had in Queens. I ordered a shrimp taco, and the "gorditas de lengua" yes that's right... my meat choice was beef tongue. Don't let these fool you, they are very filling despite their size. The shrimp and tongue were cooked well and were very flavorful and soft. I especially don't like rubbery shrimp. The service is normal, about 15 mins to get the food to the table, and the staff was very accommodating to anything we needed. I'm looking forward to my next trip here. read more

Such a great spot. Inside is fun and colorful and clean when we went. We were seated immediately. Our services was great as well. Usually we ask many questions, they were all answered swiftly by our multiple waiters and we were served our appetizers and entrees quickly. We always get Guac at any Mexican spot and theirs was great! Super fresh and was actually nice and spicy. The birria tacos were great, same with the flautas. Everything just tasted great. Since we've gone I've actually wanted to come back and try more menu items. We're also got a tres leches cake for desert and it was literally so creamy and fluffy and just so decadent! Holy guacamole. Mr. Taco is mucho bueno! This colorful establishment is so bright and open and makes you feel completely welcome. You walk in and seat yourself in either tables or booths available. Our server came over and greeted us with menus, and with complimentary fresh chips and salsa. This made me super happy! And the salsa was on point! The cilantro and diced onion were a great touch in making it absolutely refreshing with every bite. The big craze and "most popular" item on the menu were of course the Birria Tacos and I can definitely see why. These were probably the best ones I ever had. The reason for that being is, every time I have ordered birria tacos from other places, the shells have been soft or soggy. But not the shells at Mr. Taco! They were super crunchy and filled with shredded beef, cheese, cilantro and diced onion. Also served with fresh cut limes and sauce on the side. The flavors were amazing and the tacos were easier to eat while dipping in the sauce. We also tried the chicken burrito bowl which was refried beans, yellow rice, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and chicken. To finish off, we had the flan and tres leches cake. Both were divine! You can never go wrong with dessert, but you can tell these were homemade and filled with love! What a great meal overall and what a helpful waitstaff. I've only gotten orders to go through work so I'm not sure how the service is, but they've gotten large orders right each time! Food is pretty good. So far I've only had the tacos and rice. I will say the taco meat is a little bit on the dry side which is unfortunate because it looks good and the ingredients are fresh. I've tried their birria tacos which theirs is made from beef (not goat)I've also had the carne asada, carnitas and barbacoa tacos. All again were dry. Their rice however is good and flavorful and cooked well. Prices are great. All of my coworkers really enjoyed their tacos but I guess I'm a little pickier. I was in the area and wanted some tacos. One of my friends recommended this place as opposed to another taco place nearby that I have tried before. He had mentioned to try the Pastor Taco. I had tried this type of taco only once before while visiting Chelsea Pier in NYC this past fall and fell in love with that kind of taco! Upon entering Mr Taco, I was impressed with how big the restaurant is and how big their menu was. I was greeted by multiple workers and the woman who took my order at the register was very helpful and pleasant. I had mentioned it was my first time in there and the workers smiled and said how much I'll like the food. They put in one of every sauce to try with my tacos along with chips which do come with every purchase. I bought 3 tacos for about $8 which is a great deal. The location isn't ideal if you are wanting to go past it getting dark outside- I found myself rushing to and from my car. The flavor of the pastor tacos were amazing and I loved how juicy the meat was and how flavorful the tacos were. I will absolutely be back to try more- especially those Birria tacos which are a favorite of mine! read more

We went in tonight to try Mr. taco for the first time. My husband spotted it because he works in the area. Plenty of parking on the side of the building and we walked into a very clean and bright open area the counter was at the back of the room and there was seating for people who chose to eat in. We were promptly greeted by a staff member and provided menus very shortly after a young man came by and took our drink orders I had a margarita and my husband had a Dr. Pepper. We were provided chips and a very fresh and delicious salsa. He got Birria tacos and I had a burrito bowl with al pastor meat. My husband said they were the best Birria tacos he has had. The bite I took was very cheesy and flavorful without being greasy. My Burrito bowl was delicious the base with Spanish rice there were also fresh tomato slices a little bit of lettuce mixed with cilantro plenty of cheese and I was offered a variety of sauces to top off my meal. The spicy salsa was amazing! Please be aware it is actually spicy. The staff spoke Spanish and English and and it seemed they worked seamlessly as a team to ensure outstanding service for every guest. We will definitely be back. read more

I am constantly trying New Mexican restaurants in my area. In Meriden, this is their BEST Mexican cuisine spot! As soon as we sat down we were handed freshly cooked tortilla chips paired with salsa that tasted like the tomatoes were just picked from a garden... out of this world! My husband, two toddlers and I got takeout here a few nights ago and OMG were we pleased!!! It was the sort of last minute "oh crap, it's dinner time and we're still like 30 minutes from home...and nothing is prepped" that necessitated a pickup situation. We ordered the birria tacos, pork tamale, tacos que me ves, and a chicken quesadilla, ALLLLLL of which surpassed our expectations!! The four of us ate to our fill for under $40, and we will definitely be adding this spot to our takeout rotation! Being from Chicago, taquerias are all over the place. When I moved here they were few and far between. I did find Taco Mi Nacho and that became my go to local place. However, I felt like a change and saw Mr Taco on yelp and thought I'd give it a try. It turns out, it's better! The steak plattios are tastier and prepared much better. I spent $ 100.47 including a $ 10.00 tip and they forgot to put 3 chicken tacos. When I complained they practically accused me of wanting to steal 3 more tacos. The employee kept insisting that she had given it to me without being true. Then I lost my patience. The manager came out and decided to give me the tacos but while she said to make them the employee kept insisting that she gave it to me. I told him how I felt and told him to forget it. That employee apparently does not understand that she represents the business and her actions will be reflected in the business. The only solution that I would accept is that they fire that employee for being so insistent with a client that just gave them a tip of more value than the 3 tacos that cost $5.00.
