This place is amazing! Stopped here for breakfast and some pastries and they were delicious! And the coffee is on point!

We had a high recommendation to go to Frida's Bakery. We were told that Frida's made great Cuban Sandwiches. Well we went in to the order area. It was a Sunday late afternoon, not very busy. There was not anyone in line and two employees were standing at the two registers. We stood there, one did not look up, the other stood there just looking at us. I asked if this is where we order, he answered "yes" and just stood there looking at us. So I asked him to take our order he did and then we asked for it to go. I paid for the order, the young man gave us a number and we went to look at their nice patio dining area and then he told we could not go out there. I could not hear him, asked him again, and a woman further behind the counter in the prep area told us in no uncertain terms, "Go sit over there by the window and wait until we call you. Well, finally the called our number and gave us two boxes with the Cuban Sandwiches. A to go order with out a bag. I got someones attention and requested a to go bag. They put the two boxes in the plastic bag on their sides. We left. End of story, the contents of the sandwiches were just throw together between the bread. We had better from lesser places. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Leaving this review for my sister because she told me the story and I'm upset for her. Her family frequents Frida's often and my nephew eats the ham, egg & cheese panini. When my sister ordered, the cashier only heard her order egg & cheese panini so that is what she got (missing the ham). When brought to the cashier's attention, she was very apologetic and went to the kitchen to ask for ham (best part of the sandwich according to my nephew). Apparently, kitchen staff will not just give her what was missing from her original order (ham) and she will have to order and pay for another whole sandwich, just for the ham. So Nephew sat crying while eating his egg & cheese panini. Unreasonable to ask a customer to order a whole sandwich, just for a piece of ham because of miscommunication. This cafe ROYALLY messed up. If you have dietary restrictions, don't visit this cafe. I ordered a Portobello Panini. Should just be mushrooms, vegetables and cheese. NOPE. THEY ADDED ROAST BEEF AND I AM A VEGETARIAN. The manager couldn't help the situation or give an explanation besides they are busy. But they are always busy at lunch. I spoke with the owner and he just says they hire who ever applies and just get who ever off the street. I was told there were new people working. Still not okay and didn't get a resolution besides I can come back to get the correct sandwich and a desert... uh well you messed up my lunch break at work, I'll likely be sick cause I haven't ate meat in some time, and you can't get the food to me to resolve my sandwich now. Not okay. I never leave reviews but I have to. After speaker to the Owner, I told him I will leave reviews and he proceeds to threaten to not give me a sandwich if I do. Fine. I've been a regular customer at Frida's for the last 12 years. On three separate visits I've watched the man with the peaky blinders haircut and tattoo on his leg who usually makes the sandwiches/preps the little condiments containers full on rub his nose from wrist to thumb on both hands at the same time, proceed to not wash his hands and then put on gloves to continue making mine and others sandwiches. While he has the gloves on he's still wiping his nose on his forearm down to the glove. He then took off the gloves, still didn't wash his hands and handed me my food with his snot all over it. On another occasion, I watched him, with gloves on, touch the door that leads outside, push in all the chairs outside, come inside and push in all the chairs then proceeded to go make food without changing the gloves he just touched all the door handles and chairs with. Is it on purpose or severe incompetence? I'm sure it's on your cameras if you need to see it for yourself. I've worked in food service myself and have been a CNA, the amount of contamination I witnessed has halted all my desires of continuing to eat from this establishment which makes me sad because I did love this place, but I can't stomach his boogers all over my food that I'm paying money for. He makes a mean sandwich, but he 1000% needs to be retrained on handwashing and food contamination for the safety of your paying customers and your business. read more

I used to love this place. Unfortunately they changed the menu and no longer have some of my favorite breakfast items. Today I ordered a sausage breakfast sandwich not knowing there was more then one on the menu. Then after paying, the cashier approached me that I needed to pay an extra 5.00 for GF bread. I completely understand the extra charge for GF, I encounter it all the time. However what I've never encountered is a cashier telling me she rang it in wrong and I needed to come in and pay extra money. Then when I got my Sandwich it was unfortunately not the one I wanted, since there was more than one sausage sandwich on the menu and the cashier didn't clarify. I love Frida's. They've got bagels. They've got cinnamon buns. They've got cakes. They've got cookies. It's carb heaven. I'm only giving my review on the baked goods because I've yet to have their sandwiches but I'll give an update once I do. Conveniently located off of Ulmerton, you can find a bustling bakery. I've visited recently and saw that they've expanded their parking lot to include another lot just behind it so finding parking shouldn't be too much of an issue. I recommend coming earlier during the day to make sure they have what you want. They bake everything fresh so when they're out for the day, they're out. I like their apple fritters and danishes. Their cinnamon buns lacking the airiness and the icing you usually expect but they are pretty big. So are their fritters. It's a quick little one-stop shop for your carb needs. read more

Stopped in for a cake this morning which I was out of luck. So I decided to have breakfast here. So I ordered there egg and chipotle platter with eggs Sunny side up, sausage, potatoes and bread with butter and cherry preserve. This is what I got below. I tried bringing them up and requested new eggs since these were overly cooked and NOT Sunny side up. The nice lady told me it's cooked by a machine. Atleast the Coconut coffee was pretty good. Waste of $9.99. They should take the butter out of the fridge as well. Frida bakery has mixed reviews from my friend. I like to find out myself for my own experience. The bakery serve lunch and breakfast. The breakfast included many item with bacon. The lunch also good. When I was there, many come in for the soup, I did not try that. I got to pieces of their dessert for the my late snack. I have cassada torte and the carrot cake. The cassada torte has a cannoli place on top. The middle has two layers of cake and mousse and a layer of chocolate. The cake is moist and has syrup in it. It is tasty. The carrot cake is good. It is top with carrot icing. Layer with cake cream. My experience here is good. No big wow factor. They have outside seating good for the current weather. I was serve quickly. My cousin was visiting from Utah and knowing her sweet tooth, we decided to go to Frida's cafe. I ordered the half Turkey and cheese on 8-grain sandwich (with my choice of toppings) and a half cup of chicken tortilla soup. Wow. The sandwich was the best I've had in a long time. The bread was perfect, the turkey spiced just right and swiss topped it off. The soup had a kick to it which I loved. Cousin ordered a scrambled egg, sauage and American on a croissant. She had enough for breakfast the next day. We opted out of sweets because they gave us a small dessert with the meal. However, we stopped back the next day and she bought a huge selection of bake goods to take with her. The place is clean, inside and outside seating is available, and everyone made us feel welcome. I've had cake at a birthday party too which was superb. The baked goods remind of the ones I enjoyed while living in eastern Europe. Not sickening sweet and so so tasty. Yay finally tried Frida's Bakery! My first impression was that it was in a weird spot, but I really loved this place! It reminded me of Panera, but non chain of course. There were a lot of options of coffees, hot chocolate, and teas. There are also quite a bit of sandwiches. And the bakery part of it, that's on another level. Endless desserts that I don't know how anyone couldn't find something they liked. They also make cakes that you can customize. At this time, they have king cakes for Mardi Gras. They have quite a bit of inside and outside seating! We ordered a tiramisu which was fabulous. We also got a Boston Cream donut for free with Yelp Check in. Lastly we had a hot chocolate! My mother-in-law has been going to this bakery and highly recommended that we try it! Her favorite are their amazing Apple Fritters! The bakery is large and very clean! There are so many tasty options of sweets, cookies, cupcakes, cakes and donuts to choose from! The St. Patrick's Day cookies and donuts were a big hit with the kids! Our favorite was the chocolate covered Boston cream donut with St. Paddy's Day sprinkles! There was lots of cream in the donut and it was so tasty! The chocolate coating was thick and delicious! The apple fritters were excellent! The Shamrock cookies were awesome! The prices are definitely on the higher side but the quality is also top notch! The person waiting on us was not that friendly and actually seemed annoyed with us when we were ordering. I went back to this place for the first time in one year. I missed this place very much... I got my usual "Strawberry Shortcake" (absolutely delicious). I wanted to get something new besides my strawberry shortcake. So I asked the person who was taking my order which ones are not too sweet. And she goes "everything has a perfect amount of sweetness!" So with no help from the lady, I decided to try their Tiramisu and Hazelnut Mousse. And I topped the order with their pecan bar. I usually love Tiramisu but this one was a little different. Not the kind I like unfortunately. Now the hazelnut mousse was excellent!!! It was rich and sweet but not too sweet. It was actually perfect with a cup of coffee. The pecan bar was great too! it was kinda like a short bread type of cookie with huge pecans in it!!! I love this place and my dream is to accomplish every single thing they have on the menu!!! P.S. Not only the not-so-helpful lady did not help me picking the cakes, but she charged me for Strawberry cheesecake instead of starwberry shortcake. So my bill was overcharged. I was not gonna go back inside for a dollar overcharge but still I just hoped the whole experience to be better. I am not going to change my 5 rating star just because of this one lady. We just discovered Fridas bakery and we'll definitely frequent this place. We had breakfast paninis that were delicious. We took home a jelly donut, a Chocolate Suicide individual cake and a birthday cake. The jelly donut was huge and filled with jelly. The Suicide cake was so chocolatey without being overly sweet. The birthday cake was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting that was the best I've ever had. The cakes didn't have the awful preservative after taste found in store bought cakes. We picked this chocolate mousse cake which was exceptional and their lemon delight, tiramisu, and apple turnover which were good but we wished it was lighter although the flavors were really great. Good solid place for lunch. Everything I've had here is always hood and fresh, plus they serve the meals with a piece of coconut bread. You can't go wrong with a side of coconut bread. I also love the variety of flavored water. Tea or lemonade the have. This week it was pomegranate water and coconut lemonade. I mixed the two and it was refreshing and tasted good.
