This is a great deli and bakery in midcounty. I happened to be the area for work and stopped in because I always heard good things about it. I ordered a large greek salad and a tea. The hibiscus tea was good and the greek salad was too. All the ingredients were very fresh. It did not have beets but that is ok with me because I don't like beets. The cool thing is they include a little piece of spice cake on the side of the plate so you have a little dessert when you are finished with the salad. I looked at the bakery counter and everything looked amazing but since I was going to be someplace without a place to keep it for a few hours I didn't. Did not want it to melt in the car or get crushed in my purse. Next time for the baked goods though! read more

It's the only lunch restaurant where I order a drink (as their coffees and iced drinks are a step above) and it's the only lunch restaurant where I can order a salad and not regret getting a sandwich (as the Buddha Bowl is incredible). Also, if you need a cake - this is the place to go! Love their tres leche cake (see pic) and their death by chocolate. Their selection of cookies and pastries is also pretty impressive. This place is one of the places locals go on a Sunday. The restaurant was pretty busy, but the line moved quickly and. I ordered a coconut cream cupcake and a slice of carrot cake. The carrot cake was nice and moist, and there was a good helping of the cream cheese frosting. Not too sweet. The carrot cake didn't seem like it was the kind that contained crushed pineapple or walnuts. It was ok. I have been craving coconut cake, and alas, this one did not quite get me there. The whipped frosting killed it, and there was not much coconut flavor. Coconut shavings on top? Check. However, the cupcake still managed to taste bland? Very odd. Although I'm going there for five+ years I have watched their VEGETABLE PANINI sandwich go from amazing and loaded with many grilled veggies, to cheese and one vegetable. So they do lack there. I ordered my mother a blueberry pie for her birthday. I called in to reserve one, as this special day was the day after thanksgiving. She wanted a mocha walnut cake, but apparently they don't and won't make such a cake. Eh! I ordered a German chocolate cake online. The online ordering process was so easy. I was able to pay ahead so when I arrived at the bakery, I was able to pull in the curb side pick up area and just call the bakery to let them know I was there and they brought it right out to me! When they came out to my car, they showed me the cake to make sure I was satisfied before I drove off. It was beautiful and so heavy!! I have never had a German Chocolate cake before and this was for a birthday cake and I'm so glad I ordered from Frida's. It was so pretty and such great quality. The chocolate ganache is so rich and the chocolate pieces on top and the sides are so thick and just a high quality chocolate. The cake is moist and was a huge hit! I tried to contact through social media and left messages. I called and got no where. So I took my business elsewhere. A few days ago, I wrote a 1-start review regarding the poor customer service I received from this place, and I received a disingenuous and unnecessary response from the owner (solely for the benefit of those reading my 1 star review, I'm sure). I've been gluten free for about 10 years now due to the negative inflammatory reaction I get if I eat it. I won't die, but I'll be uncomfortable for a significant period of time. I eat out often and am a faithful patron to places that offer "gluten free" or "gluten friendly" options, including Frida's (where I've never had an issue before). My true issue was not that the employee put the gf and non-gf pastries in the same box and used the same glove to do it, but rather her visible disgust and attitude when I politely asked her to replace the gf pastries because of the visible contamination. She was rude. That was my issue. There is no need to try to educate me on the possibilities of cross contamination in a facility that also produces glutenous food items. I've been doing this a long time. I know the drill. If I had ever been affected by a Frida's product, I would have stopped patronizing. My guess is that establishments, including Frida's, offer gf products mainly to cater to people with gluten allergies, otherwise why do it? There is no true nutritional benefit to using gf flour vs regular flour. Maybe educate your employees to ask if the purchase of gf items is due to "allergy or preference", as so many other establishments do these days; or change nothing. I don't care. There's no need to respond to my review to try to prove that your employee did nothing wrong, or that I should have did something differently. read more

I can't speak much on the Cafe side of Frida's, but I will be talking exclusively about the bakery. Our family usually goes to Frida once a year when we vacation in the area. To say it is a highlight of the trip is an understatement. It's the first thing we get the moment we're in the area. Their pastries are some of the best I've ever had.... Particularly their Pumpkin Swirl cake with cream cheese and a topping of nuts and caramel on top. I love this thing. I'm drooling just thinking about it!!! And it never disappoints. They have a little bit of every kind of baked good (including gluten free items) and are second to none in the area. If you are in the Indian Rocks/ St. Petersburg area, please be sure to check them out. You won't regret treating your sweet tooth!! I ordered three things: Tres Leches: My personal favorite of the three Pumpkin Loaf: A pretty tasty rendition of this classic Chocolate Suicide: I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but Chris W recommended it, despite him not writing a review and telling me I had to go to Frida's no less than seven times in the past year. Chris is not an example of a good Yelper, but I'm an example of a good husband by performing the selfless act of bringing home a treat exclusively for my wife's pleasure. She enjoyed it. I also ordered a pomegranate water, which I found to be okay, but not something I'd need to order again. My wife commented that it reminded her of cranberry juice, which I agreed after she said that. I don't like cranberry juice at all, so I wouldn't go that far, but it was definitely a bit more tart than I expected. Overall, I'd definitely visit Frida's again. This is hands down one of the if not the best bakery I've been to here in Pinellas. The desserts here are amazing. Every time I go I have to get more than one! There's so many to choose from. UPDATE ON THE KETO BREAD: Unfortunately it doesn't make good sandwich bread either it's very soft and a bit crumbly, it almost resembles pulling apart a rice crispy treat and watching the marshmallow stick together when I cut it , I tired to wash it off my hands it took on an odd slimy consistency. While I'm sure the rest of their baked goods are amazing this keto bread just didn't do anything for me. I was SO excited to try this place because I heard it was keto friendly! I was thinking like fat bombs and stuff but they actually just have keto bread! Which is fine so I got a loaf, it looks super fluffy and has sliced almonds on it so In my head I'm thinking it'll be pound cake like and I get super excited! Wellll moment of truth I'm so pumped to eat it I cut off a piece and it's really salty yet almost bland! I guess I should've read the ingredients because you can definitely tell it's actually supposed to be more like a fluffy sandwich bread.
