So I am on vacation and just looking for places to try in Florida and I come by this quaint little cafe. It stands out because it's in the middle of a busy road but I really wanted to grab a bite for breakfast. Great thing that I did because I have never had a bagel and sandwich so tasty in the morning. I had the smoked salmon and cream cheese Asiago bagel. Let's just say I finished it and started on the sandwich I got for my friend. It's a great mix of your standard smoke salmon palate board with capers, onions, tomatoes, greens and cream cheese. What really made the difference was the bagel, people don't understand that most of the time it's not the ingredients that counts but what the ingredients are served on or with. The bagel was delightfully savory and freshly made. By the way it crunched I could tell that the bakers know what they were doing, the same goes for my organic chicken sandwich. The house made sesame sauce went really well with the toasted bread and the mix of pickled carrots and cucumber reminded of the traditional Vietnamese sandwiches they served overseas. All in all I never met Frida but she has one little place. I have had their baked items and not only are their portions HUGE but their prices are very affordable. Everything is made fresh and I have yet to be there when there is a huge wait and/or line. They are courteous, quick, respectful and the food is AMAZING. Their bakery elevates all the dishes you love into a sweet fiesta that cannot be missed I ordered a specialty cake for a birthday and they were so creative in how they wrote the happy birthday because as a specialty cake they could have written it in a generalized, albeit small font (it was a 10in cake), but they went above and beyond and made a banner and wrote it with an artist flare that added to the charm of the cake. . How would you like to find a piece of a platex glove in your birthday cake? This is just what happened to my friend after biting into a piece of Freida's red velvet cake!!! A finger to the glove was embedded in the cake!!! Yuk or what?? So when the cake was returned after no one bothered to even acknowledge we were in the bakery with an issue, we were offered another cake, but no refund!! Wow Freida, this surely darkens your reputation!! And of course, the woman taking on this issue could have cared less! Never once acted like it even bothered her to see a plastic particle within one of their cakes. When asked who to speak to next, I was told the owner, who would be in tomorrow. I asked if I could speak to the owner while I was in the bakery and get this... Was told they didn't have her number... Hello, are you kidding me? ***STAY AWAY, FAKE PROCESSED FOODS*** First off let me start with, I am not one to usually bash a place like this, but with baking and desserts, I know my stuff. I am a culinary school graduate, majoring in desserts and pastrys. I also have been working in the field for over 10 years, and had prestigious jobs such as recent pastry chef for a gordon ramsay holdings restaurant. Therefore, I know my stuff. A friend of mine has been employed with Frida's for about 6 months, and when I told her i'd come by and see her and check out the place, she warned me it was nothing special! First off let me say, ALMOST NOTHING!! NOTHING!!! IS MADE FROM SCRATCH. This place is acting like a gold mine, and it sure is. I went at the lunch time rush, and the place was insanity. Lines were through the door and down the parking lot!! I had to see what the hype was all about. When you order from the front display area, the kitchen/bakery is open so you can see in what is going on. I started out with watching these cake decorators scooping icing onto these cakes STRAIGHT OUT OF A BUCKET!!!, they do not make their icings, only the buttercream they make, and even that is a base cream!!! they are only adding butter!!!!! So I went on and ordered some of the mini cakes to go, quite a few so I could really give it a good try, and not just be judging off one or two things. And my assumptions were correct. Almost EVERYTHING is PROCESSED PRE-MADE ORDER IN ingredients. The cream cheese icings, fudge, buttercream base (all they do is mix in butter!!) Even the cakes appreared to be pre-made, NOT FRESH cakes. This really really gets me. People making themselves seem like a homey european bakery, and they are doing business like this!! Im sorry but I have so much family in europe and EVERYTHING is made from scratch!!! I was just beside myself, so I needed to confront and comfrim this with my friend, and what do you know, EVERYTHING IS ORDERED IN, NOTHING, I REPEAT NOTHING IS MADE FRESH. My friend who will remain anonmyous, confrimed everything I believed. She just works there for a job, a paycheck. But in the bakery she ices the cakes that are ordered in FROZEN in sheet cakes sizes, and round for the round cakes, ices them with processed icing ordered in in buckets. All of the fillings in the danishes and dougnuts are processed pre made. Even ALL of the cookies they sell are ordered in. This is basically a par-baked bakery. Everything is made off-site and ordered in and they just finish baking the goods and ice them and finish them off and sell them. They are taking credit for these goods like they really make them from scratch. Like I said, this bothers me. All of these people who are getting sucked into this 'gold mine' because they think they are eating all these wonderful great homemade desserts and pastrys, and they are not!!! THESE FOODS ARE PROCESSED, MADE WITH HYDROGINATED OILS THAT ARE HORRIBLE. I understand that baked goods are not going to be good for you, but at least eat good baked goods. Also might I add, that, THESE FOODS DO NOT TASTE GOOD AT ALL, ACTUALLY, THEY DONT HAVE ANY TASTE. They taste fake, they taste processed, they taste pre-made. They do not taste Fresh!!! LASTLY, I decided to call out the owners. I first descretely pulled out one of the employees and specifically said I wanted some fresh, homemade baked goods, nothing processed, only from scratch, and they did inform me that most everything was not from scratch and very limited was not processed foods - even there lunch foods. I then pulled Frida over herself, and asked if her baked goods, or lunch items..ANYTHING was from scratch was fresh, from scratch, and she lied and said yes. I then called her out on it, explained to her whom I was, and my experience, and that I was disgusted with their food, and nevertheless, there willingness to lie about how they prepare there food. She then proceeded to be VERY rude to me, trying to get me out of the store, and not talk out loud for everybody to hear what I was saying about the place. THIS IS THE TRUTH. IF YOU WANT FRESH, HOMEMADE, FROM SCRATCH BAKED GOODS ANDDD FOOD. STAY AWAYYYY PS. Natures food patch in clearwater has an AWSOME deli/bakery just like this..BUT WAYYY BETTER. I am in town on business for 3 weeks. One of my friends had told me about this place that was a European bakery. So I thought I would try it out. Well, sadly to say this not a European Bakery. One reason I say that is because I am from Europe. I was very surprised that they would call there place that. I gave the place the benefit of the doubt. So i bought a variety of dessert to bring to my clients office. I purchased the following: Chocolate Mousse Cup, Eclair, Napolion,chocolate mousse cake, white chocolate mousse cake, and the key lime tart. So, my clients had quite a few to try. I asked the cashier if I may please have 6 plastic forks and six plates. She then told me I would have to pay for the plates. I feel that I just paid all this money for your desserts and now $6 for some dessert plates. Well, When we all tried our desserts, I was very upset. And so were the clients. they tasted dry,old and not worth what I paid. The mousse was just whip cream with added flavor. It was not real mousse. I was very upset and embarrassed that I brought them these desserts. So I called the bakery and spoke with a young lady. I told her what I thought and she seemed not to care. So I asked her where the owners were from. To my shock they are not even European. They are from Iran. I told the young lady I will never be back there again and she said sorry to hear that. Did not offer to replace the dessert or my money back. So this so called "European bakery" is not a European bakery it is an Iranian Bakery. read more

Went in for breakfast....not that impressed. I was greeted by a less than friendly person named Melissa...I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese panini...soooo disappointed in this thing. I had maybe 2 small thin strips of bacon and no cheese on this. I tried a couple of the breakfast pastries and they are nothing to brag about...I could have went to a little drive thru donut chain place and gotten better and a lot cheaper.
