the date bars were delicious......the cakes, MEH, i've had better. they weren't bad, nor great. the reason i wouldn't return is the nice long piece of hair i found in my beautifully decorated mini carrot cake..........that did it for me. would never go back again, even if the date bar was so good. had i eaten the carrot cake first, before the other desserts we purchased, it all would have been in the trash. the carrot cake was the last dessert we ate, sadly. who knows what other extras were in the other items. very disappointed!!! read more

Went here for the first time this week and the place was really cute inside. Super clean and the food is presented beautifully. However, as much as I wanted to like this place, I probably wouldn't come here for the cake again. Picked up an Italian Rum cake for a party for close to $30 along with a gluten free chocolate cupcake and one other pastry involving mousse. Everyone at the party thought the pastries and cake looked great, but once we tried all of them everyone was pretty unimpressed. The Italian Rum cake was fairly bland, the gluten free chocolate cupcake barely tasted like chocolate and a few people commented that they felt like the cocoa was just replaced with sugar. Too sweet and not enough flavor. Same for the other pastry. It was a chocolate cake with whipped caramel mousse on top and that was not very good either. Really wanted to like this place, but if I go back, it will be for the regular food and I will probably go elsewhere for specialty bakery items. read more

Great for small pastries- doughnuts, cookies- but if you are looking to order a cake, go elsewhere. Very overpriced compared to other bakeries. Will attempt to charge you for decor that most would think comes standard on a birthday cake such as writing "happy birthday". The service could also improve. They get very busy but could maybe tend to train their folks to multitask better to serve more customers. I waited about 20 minutes as the third person in line for the customers in front of me to pick out doughnuts. Overall, again- great for smaller things. You won't be disappointed, especially with their apple fritters! But for cakes, I'd check out other places first. read more

A hidden gem on busy Ulmerton Road, my fiance and I were impressed with the size of the kitchen operation as soon as we walked in. We were in a bind: our wedding was only four days away, and the cake and cookie part of our Venetian dessert table had fallen through by an unorganized bakery. We were about to throw our hands up in the air and go with grocery store cakes, when we saw Frida's. Stopping in to take a glance at the cakes, we decided we'd sample one (carrot cake) to see if we should go with them. It was delicious. The balance of flavor, sweetness and spice, was absolutely right. We ordered carrot cake, Italian Rum cake, and red velvet cake, as well as a platter of assorted cookies. Very well received, and disappeared quickly! We highly recommend Frida's and thank them for their quick and wonderful turnaround! read more

Quality locally-owned bakeries seem to be harder and harder to find. Frida's is a gem and they do really well despite a pretty awful location with all of the construction on Ulmerton Road. I stopped there to bring some treats home for the family - an apple fritter, blueberry cake donut, cronut, and a raspberry filled sandwich cookie. It was all amazing - especially the apple fritter! I thought Fray's Donut House was the only place in the Bay Area with a terrific apple fritter, but I think Frida's surpasses them. The cronut was delicious as well. The kids seemed to love their raspberry sandwich cookie. They have a really wide selection of baked goods with what seems to be a specialty in unique desserts/cookies. All in all I would definitely come back here for bakery items and to try out their lunch menu. Happy to have found them! read more

Fridas is awesome, they use organic chicken, best ingredients very nice staff, very clean, free wifi, they have the best bavarian cream donuts with the white powdered sugar. They have awesome raspberry pomengranate tea and lemonad that is organic. They are excellent and I love them. They are the best place to eat in Largo that I have found. They are not cheap at all, but at least they give you good food for what they charge you. They charge top dollar and give you top quality. Their pastries I warn you are not as good as they look. They put out a lovely display but only a handful of their pastries are worth the calories. Best donuts in Florida and anywhere else I've ever had. Great place to have lunch they close at 7p.m. love the place and the food. I recommend the chicken sandwhich with chipotle mayo if you like a little spice with your food. They have other more bland options for people like my mom too. read more

I discovered this cafe on the way home from church one sunday, 5years ago and have been coming back with my family ever since. It has great outdoor seating with fans so that even on some warm days its comfortable. Delicious fresh clean food, great salads, wraps, pannini. To-die-for pastries, cookies, donuts, cakes, wedding cakes too! When I'm in St Pete my mom has me bring her eclairs back to Ponte Vedra Beach for her:) Prices are fair for the large portions and quality. read more

Paninis are top notch here, and if you like capers I highly recommend the caper cream cheese. It's the best of a NY-style deli with a bakery wrapped in one. Today was my first & last day I will purchase anything from this bakery. I was not greeted when I walked in. The girl that came to take my order had a very bad attitude. I tried asking her about the sandwiches on the menu because it was my first time, she walked away. When I was ready to check out I presented her my debit card and she snatched it from my hand. I will not recommend going to this bakery to anyone. I've never had bad customer service anywhere in Pinellas county since I've moved here a year ago until today. Never again. read more

Great Location with easy access off Ulmerton Road. My girlfriend and I go there almost every weekend to get our donut fix. Their apple fritters are excellent. They also have some great, free lemon-water (lemons mixed with water in a big vat, very refreshing on a hot morning). I am a Realtor and have spent many hundreds of dollars at Frida's buying foods and deserts for open houses. Mostly, it has been good, but I purchased the fruit tart and it was disgusting. The filling was odd and artifical, the crust was bad, and no one would eat anything but the fruit off of the top. I came back with my $85 receipt and asked for some kind of consideration. I was basicly told "tough luck". You don't like it, or no one liked it, too bad. Bad way to do business. read more

Its ok, not many bakeries in area. From CT with lots of Bakeries. The bread is good till they put it in the bag and ruin it. Cakes are ok, I Love Sweets, and I just don't think anything there is special at all. Nothing I have had there which I have been several times ever screams to go back. Sorry. I received a birthday cake from them as a gift. It is nothing like the Italian Creme cake that I was expecting and even the 4 year old in my house, let alone the teenagers, have not finished a slice. From the chocolate pudding in between the cake layers which was described as Bavarian cream, to the super thick whipped cream icing covering the super thin layers of actual cake, this is a fail. I was looking forward to a delicious escape from doctor's and treatments on my birthday. I honestly am so disappointed in this concoction that I want to cry. read more

My family was supposed to visit me to celebrate my birthday this weekend, but because they couldn't come any longer, I decided to go to Frida's with my husband. For some reason, all I noticed on the menu were paninis, but the case of cakes and pastries looked phenomenal so I didn't mind. The problem I had with the place was the cashier and the cleanliness of the cafe. The cashier, was a bit choppy and bossy with me and she made me walk one side of the cafe to order my paninis and walk to the other side of the cafe to order my cakes. I must say that the food was great; I just didn't like how I was treated. I had to tell her several times that the order was to stay. I found the floor and the table s to be dirty. I understand that the staff cleaned off the tables, but they could have done a better job at wiping them off more frequently. I also noticed that the floor was dirty as I walked to the front of the bakery to get my lemonade from the fountain. In addition, the store closes a 5pm on a Sunday, and I noticed that the same girl who took my order came over twice to clean the area that we sat in which I didn't appreciate since sometimes it implies that the staff is trying to kick us out. What pissed me off even more was that I asked her if she could get me a box for one of my cakes and she told me to go to the counter. I took my plate up to the counter with my pumpkin roll, looked around for a while since no one paid me any attention, and finally a lady from the back noticed me and gave me a box. It made me angry that as a customer who spent over 30 bucks at a cafe had to go through so much trouble to get a take home box. I must admit that I have a chronic sweet tooth, but if I go there again, I will just take my order to go. read more
