I will be honest, the reason I ate here last week was because I stood at the host stand at Rosati's for way too long and I decided I was going to try a different spot. So I walked outside and this restaurant had a few tables filled and I decided to go with it. They immediately bring fresh made chips and salsa (two kinds) to the table. I ordered the elote in a cup and it was really tasty! Devoured it. My entree was a beef burrito covered in queso and for my side I chose rice instead of beans. It was a tasty meal. I also couldn't pass up ordering a single taco with all Pastor. That was the best thing I ate the entire evening. It's a nice restaurant, fancier interior and service is good. You expect to pay a little more for a meal here but they do take good care of you and if you like chips and salsa it's great here. I have been enjoying Frieda's for quite a while but I figured it was about high time I share! They are a great Mexican restaurant across the street from The Collections. I have several dishes that are my staples here the chicken chimichanga, the chicken fajita quesadilla and the cheese quesadilla (for times I'm less hungry lol). Portion sizes are good I usually end up taking some home. We always start with the black bean salsa (my fav) and a cheese dip with jalapeños yum! By the time I inhale the chips and dips I'm half full The chicken is really good the marinade is nice and it's always well cooked but not tough which I appreciate. The rice and beans are tasty as well. They definitely get two thumbs up from me. Oh yeah, I almost forgot they have excellent half and half tea perfect balance! My little sister and her friends came to eat here. My family has been eating here for over a decade. She came with 2 of her friends and the server was extremely rude. She also charged them extra for kids meals which has never happened in our 10+ years of eating here, but that wasn't really the problem.. the waitress TIPPED HERSELF 20% ON THEIR CARD. When my sister received the check it already had a tip, no option to add one or sign the bill and was calculated to be 20%. This is highly illegal and THEFT, as a server myself this is diabolical. Met friends for Taco Tuesday. First time for me so I checked out the menu online. Everything looked great so ordered a Sol adult beverage to begin. Had not found that available in a few years. This review is based on a Grubhub pickup order of a "Taco loco" salad, something I often do at several Mexican restaurants in the area in order to use a monthly $10 credit from a credit card. Like all the others in the area, the salad comes with a bag of chips and a small cup of red salsa. Here the salsa is spicy without being painful, and is not at all chunky. I poured half onto the salad and ate the rest with the chips. One difference here is that the salad has a cheese sauce poured onto the other ingredients, and along with salsa this makes the salad soupy. The taste is very good but the texture is too liquid for my taste. Next time I'll ask for the sauce on the side. Taco shell is crisp, no complaints. Total pickup order was $11.01, meaning my out-of-pocket was $1.01. Order was ready when promised. read more

Something is off with the ground beef. Seems as though they are missing some type of spice in it. Went there for taco Tuesday (and previous occasions other than taco Tuesday). After ordering the tacos, eating 3-4 of them, and had 3 remaining. I asked for the check. Got the check, paid, then I asked for a to-go box. Was told that I couldn't get the to-go box. I informed the waiter that I already paid for the additional tacos. Went back and forth and explained that I will need a refund for the tacos. Was told that I wouldn't receive a refund. Explained that I paid for the food and I will be taking it with me or I can ensure that I submit a police report regarding their attempt to commit fraud. The waiter came back with a to-go box. Bottom line: avoid this place. So many other Mexican restaurants that have better tasting food and competent staff. Would not recommend. read more

Served in a plastic mug. And had a flavor to it that wasn't exactly desirable. Steak fajitas. I don't know what was wrong with the steak but it had the funkiest flavor. I didn't even eat my meal except for the onions and peppers. Fajitas Texanos. Chorizo was dry and tasted like beef jerky. Steak had the same weird flavor as the other meal. Chicken was dry and bland. We were searching Yelp for a local Mexican restaurant. We came across Frida's and decided to call and see if they were offering dine in this past Saturday early dinner time. They were! We were so excited since their menu looked awesome. We arrived around 4:30. We were seated, drink orders were immediately taken and fresh chips and 2 salsas were brought one (one brown and one red... never had brown before but it was so good!). We decided to share a margarita/sangria drink and ended up going with the frozen version based on one of the staff's recommendations. It was amazing! Better tasting than I imagined. It took us a bit to navigate the menu and make our choices and they were very patient with us. We ended up settling on an order of the lobster tacos and an order of veggie fajitas. We decided we would split the entrees. When the food arrived we had filled part of our rumbling stomachs with their chips and salsa and were excited to start the main dishes. The presentation was gorgeous and we started splitting our meals before I remembered to snap photos. I can tell you the lobster in the lobster tacos was plentiful and wonderful tasting. We both loved the lobster tacos. The entree came with refried beans and rice. The veggie fajitas came with black beans and rice. We ordered the fajitas with flour tortillas so I cannot comment on their homemade corn tortillas (but I am wishing I had tried them). The veggie fajitas were plentiful and I loved the various vegetables they chose to grill. My only recommendation for them would be to slice the squash in long thin slices rather than round because I think it would hold up better in the fajitas and have more crunch to it. Onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes were all flavorful. I loved how they put the guacamole, sour cream and lettuce in a small taco shell. We were so hungry that we devoured everything (no lunch that day); usually we would have leftovers with entrees. Everything was fabulous and we would definitely return to this restaurant again. There is so much on their menu that I cannot imagine anyone not finding something of interest to try. I know we saw quite a few options for ourselves not to mention the various drink options they have. So little time lol. It appeared they were doing a good amount of pick up business there as well. I truly enjoyed our dine in experience. I wish the servers did not have to wear masks, though. It was hard to understand them and I am sure they are so hot to wear all day. The nachos were excellent with lots of cheese. We returned the lobster tacos because they were vert salty and not fresh. The manager immediately came over and apologized and offered to replace it. First timers at Fridas! We saw a coupon in a flyer and thought "what the heck, lets give it a try"! Turned out to be a great dining experience! We were greeted nicely at the door and then met our awesome waitress Monica. Monica has a great personality and definitely wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal. We started with the cheese/bean dip. Very tasty! Chips were replenished quickly without having to flag somebody down when we were getting low. ;) My husband had the full tilapia and really liked it! As its a whole fish, you have to eat slowly and be careful to watch for bones. Monica recommended i order the skirt steak dinner. It was really good! The steak was cut thin and was very very tender. The dish looks pretty too..lol! The dish included mashed potatoes, onions and other yummy toppings. The dish had balsamic vingerette of some sort on it, i think next time i will skip that part. Other than that, for me, the dish was fabulous! Oh, i almost forgot....the strawberry daiquiri!!! I must say (and i love fruity frozen drinks), that the bartender there (i think her name is Amy), made the best daiquiri! No giant ice chunks in this drink!! Very smooth, just the right consistency! I have to say that its one of the best daiquiris i've had! I will be back for more. The owner (Abe) stopped by our table to check on us.
