Speed of service was awesome. However when I got home and opened my order the food quality was awful. Where's the meat like it doesn't even cover the taco no cheese then the sour cream just thrown on top so messy. I understand prices going up but why did the quality go down? I saw you guys were super busy but it still doesn't justify me spending $36 on 3 plates of tacos then leaving a $5 tip to get home and open a dinner that looks like this. Please do better in the future.

    Bar and restaurant area.

This is an updated review after several return trips for dinner. The service has been utterly FANTASTIC and amazing on each of our return trips while our orders have all been delivered fast and completely accurate. The food has always been amazing here and our only downside was the order accuracy and service during busy times but we must say they seem to have improved on all of the things we found issue with on our first visit. This past week I have probably referred at least five couples, telling them each that El Campesino is by far and above our favorite Mexican Cuisine in the area. Figured it was high time to update our review!!

Stuffed poblanos plate with beef and chicken so good.

As good Mexican food as you will get in a small town. Great service. Tons of good hot food.

Great food! This afternoon's music playlist was excellent with 70's disco hits! A unique homemade hot sauce bar exists!

Others need to know about this great little place in downtown Dawsonville. " We walked in as they were shutting down lunch and we were the only clients there. They made us feel welcome, tolerated my broken attempts at Spanish conversation, and refilled chip after chip bowl as we ate. They never made us feel rushed even though we were the gringo $ss8@les keeping them from taking a break. Everybody enjoyed their meals- my friends got the chorizo pollo dish while I got the delicious vaqueros (2 burritos) special that they recommended. The food was a bit salty but that's to be expected sometimes with this genre and the cheesy-savoryness embedded in my dish. The Corona-Ritas were huge and tasty and washed it down nicely. I had one other beer and the total was only around $25. Given the portions and authenticity I think you'll find it hard to beat value wise anywhere around town. Would recommend to others.

This is what a chile relleno is: Chile relleno translates to "stuffed chili pepper" in Spanish, originating from Puebla, Mexico, as a dish consisting of a roasted pepper--typically a mild poblano--stuffed with cheese (or meat), dipped in egg batter, and fried. It is often served covered in a tomato-based salsa, offering a savory mix of melted cheese and crispy coating It is not traditional to use bell peppers for chile rellenos, as the dish is historically and fundamentally defined by using specific chile varieties. The most common and authentic choice is the poblano pepper, though Anaheim or Hatch chiles are also frequently used due to their similar size, shape, and ability to hold a filling. While you can use bell peppers as a substitute--especially if you want to avoid heat or cannot find traditional chiles--the resulting dish will differ significantly in flavor and texture. Unlike the thin-skinned, mildly spicy, and earthy poblano, bell peppers are thick-walled, sweet, and lack that characteristic "chile" flavor. If you choose to use them, consider roasting and peeling them first to improve their texture, as you would with a traditional poblano.
