Atlanta residents who haven't dined at this establishment in Cumming recently or ever should be aware that changes have been made, and a revisit is in order. As frequent diners, my husband and I appreciate the opportunity to converse with the owner when he's present. He often suggests new dishes for us to try, and his food is consistently outstanding. Having been taught by his grandmother at a young age, his love for cooking is unmistakable. The restaurant now offers a from scratch margaritas, homemade tortilla chips with several dip options. We absolutely loved, loved this Mexican restaurant which is walking distance from our new home. Very happy about that feature!! Took our daughter and son-in-law whom is always looking for the best Mexican food. Well he was very, very happy eating at Savory!! He couldn't stop saying how delicious everything was. Our margaritas were spot on, not boozy and packed with a well balanced of Tequila and mix. The chips were the "bomb" fried with the tallow they have from making their brisket...delicious! They chips do not come with salsa but we ordered guacamole. The serving size is small, enough for maybe two people who don't over indulge in it. We ordered two orders because we love fresh made guacamole. I did ask if they had some salsa which they were kind to bring me two small cups of tomatillo salsa which was not hot and had a little flavor. And their red sauce which was incredibly hot. Even I who usually can handle heat could not. The rice and beans on our plates were cooked to perfection. The rice nice and moist with a small amount of veggies. The beans just like my Mexican grandmother made them who was an excellent cook. All our food was delicious. Carlos, the owner brought us samples of their pork (just melted in your mouth and packed with flavor), Poblano chili rice (Carlos told us they usually make 4 or 5 different rices daily) and a Cabernet wine (plain and one with a smoked glass). Carlos informed us he carries only the best Tequila also excellent wine choices and their food is freshly made daily. Of course we were asked if we wanted dessert and usually say "no" but of course we had to try it. Warm churros with ice cream- oh to die for. Glad we didn't refuse. Also had the churros with rice pudding and cake which was dense and delicious. Ellie, Carlos's wife was delightful and very sweet who came to talk with us. Our dinner was delicious, delightful, and we left very content, full and super happy to have found a great Mexican restaurant. The restaurant is somewhat small on this inside but can accommodate larger families/groups. There is an outdoor, covered eating area. Parking is shared with the next door Mexican grocery store. Kind of tucked back on Dahlonega so if you are not familiar with the area, chance of passing the parking lot entrance They do have men's and women's separate restrooms which are nice and clean. Definitely worth the visit and I'm sure you'll return!

Without a shadow of a doubt the best Mexican food I've ever had! The food looks exactly like the menu pics. Everything is so delicious and fresh! The chips and cheese are incredible. I had the chicken fajitas and my husband had the steak torta. I'm so excited to go back and try more! The refried beans and rice were surprisingly good too! 12/10! Service was perfect as well. Thank you!

I tried this restaurant out with my girlfriend today. The food came out fast and it was so good. We ordered the carne asada burrito and a horchata (rice pudding water). The food was excellent. Service was very fast. The ambiance is pretty cool. It's like an old-school Mexican restaurant. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back.

Omg our new FAVORITE Mexican restaurant!! Their chips and queso are to dieee for. They make most of their stuff homemade and let me tell you - there is such a difference! This is our go to spot now!! We ordered steak tacos, steak fajitas, and they even put together a chicken, rice, and cheese bowl for my daughter. SO GOOD!!

I decided to try Lunch Special #6, which featured a burrito stuffed with ground beef, topped with salsa ranchero, and accompanied by rice and refried beans. My buddy opted for #10, the Gioso 3-way, which included grilled chicken, steak, and shrimp sautéed in their homemade spicy sauce, also served with rice, refried beans, and a choice of tortillas. From the very first bite of my burrito, I was pleasantly surprised--it was absolutely delicious! As a burrito enthusiast, I can confidently say it was the best-tasting burrito I've ever had, with a flavor profile unlike any I've experienced before. My buddy shared similar sentiments about the grilled meats on his plate. Curious about the sauce, we asked our server, who informed us it's a signature sauce they developed for all their meats. The rice and refried beans were perfect. The chips and salsa were also excellent. In summary, our visit to Hidalgo's Mexican Grill turned out to be one of the best lunches we've had. We're excited to make it one of our go-to spots for lunchtime.

He had chimichangas and I had something that had rice, cheese dip and chicken, steak, shrimp. My only complaint is that there was A LOT of chicken, 2 shrimp and not much steak. But it was yummy regardless. They have a daily special and this day was a chicken quesadilla for 5.99 and I think it also came with rice. We ordered one to go for his lunch the next day. (He said it was delicious) Our waiter was nice- never had to wait for anything that we asked for. (More chips, salsa, coke) Oh yeah the salsa is really good too. Not too spicy and good flavor.

These are…read moreclassic, traditional street tacos served on small corn tortillas, topped simply with fresh cilantro and onion. I appreciated that the onions were finely diced and uniform, it may seem like a small detail, but it made each bite clean and balanced. I ordered a variety of meats, and it was immediately clear that the quality is excellent. Everything was diced small, cooked perfectly tender, and packed with flavor. Not a single bite was chewy, which really speaks to the care in preparation. The tortillas were outstanding, sturdy without being tough, with a depth of corn flavor that made me wonder if they're house-made or cooked with a high-quality fat. Either way, they held together beautifully and elevated the tacos. The salsa bar was another highlight, offering several fantastic options. Every sauce had great flavor and a well-balanced consistency. The place was packed, and I was the only non-Hispanic person there, which felt like a very good sign of authenticity. Despite that, the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

I had 2 Birria tacos w/ consume and a chorizo tostada which I tend to order at any LEGIT Mexican restaurant I try. The food was fantastic!! Perfectly cooked and topped. There is a salsa bar with plenty of limes and salsas and fixings including incredible pickled carrots and jalapeños. My son raved about his Al pastor tacos which were street taco sized.
