I was meeting with someone for lunch here and I shamefully was unaware that there was this true Italian deli right near me (within 6 miles) in Cumming! Within a strip mall, there's parking readily available. It's fast casual, meaning you'll order at the counter and then take a number where your food is quickly delivered to your table. They have breakfast until 10:30 AM, then there's a 30 min transition to lunch which starts at 11. I arrived at noon- the place is busy, they have so many options for meals that it was difficult to choose. I went with an Italian sub and a Diet Coke, I figured how can you go wrong with their number one item on the menu? Delicious, and with the banana peppers it made for a great sandwich! Service is so wonderful. And they have a bakery and bar in house....dangerous all around! Family friendly and for me, having a casual lunch meeting was no problem! As soon as you walk in you know the food is going to be incredible! But then that extra hits almost immediately. The service. I wasn't just asked what I wanted. I was greeted LIKE I was wanted! So thank you to the wonderful young lady behind the register taking orders. I was scanning the menu as it was my first time visiting. After learning this information she quickly ran me through some of her favorite options, and answered all questions(knowledgeably I might add) I had myself about the menu. I chose the Marshal as well as a slice of the Heat of the Week. Because....why not. And by the way, the Marshall is not shown. My belly would not allow me to reach for my camera after first visualization. The pizza was heaven at first bite. Perfect undercarriage while fresh ingredients cooked to perfection on top. I know others love their baked goods so was thinking dough on pizza would be special. We ordered pepperoni/olive pizza, Stromboli, cup of soup and small salad with 3 sodas and our total was $55+. Pizza was disappointing. Not a fan of the sauce. My son loved the Caesar salad. My husband said the Stromboli was ok. Overall, it was cool to have wonderful acoustic guitarist, service was friendly but pizza not something I would choose again. Want to try again and get a sandwich next time. I made the trek across town to Mari's Deli and Bakery because a friend that lived in the area said they get their Italian Sausage from Fontanini's in Chicago and I wanted to grill some back home deliciousness. But after entering it was clear I was staying for dinner. The place was packed and everyone looked to really be enjoying their meal. This really raised my level of anticipation. An order at the counter and get your number for table delivery establishment gave me time to look at all the yummy entrées. Hot subs, pizzas, pasta and calzones to mention a few. My eye caught the soups for the day and that's what I settled on. That and a medium pizza. lol A Tuscan White Bean and Ham. Made fresh daily with carrots celery onion and smoked ham was fantastic. Amazing flavor and the beans cooked to perfection. And you just have to soak up the bottom of the bowl with their soft tender warm bread. The pizza was one of the best I've had in the OTP. Crispy crust, tasty sauce and fresh toppings. Thin crust is the way to go! What a fun and delicious establishment. For some unknown reason today was the first time after living in Cumming for more than 20 years we decided to grab lunch at Marie's. Such a great place! Can't believe we didn't hit this place earlier, missing out for so long. Overheard someone working here describing it as a fancy deli. Food is amazing. I had the chicken parm sandwich, the sauce is crazy. My wife had the gluten free white pie, it's the best GF crust she's had and of course the rest of the pizza killed it. This is one of the few Cumming, GA landmark restaurants left and I'm so glad they're still in business. I love everything about this place, the food, service and ambiance are amazing. Well, regarding the ambience, the place looks a bit rundown on the outside but it's very cool in an old school kind of way on the inside. Their sandwiches are all amazing, the meat ball sub is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of them. They're very open to substituting things so nicely ask for exactly what you want and they'll be happy to accommodate you. Their cafe adjacent to the restaurant is a great spot to get dessert. A few tips on eating here... this place is a locals favorite so the parking lot is always packed but don't let that dissuade you from coming in. Their service and kitchen is pretty fast so they'll get you taken care of quickly. Speaking of their service, these guys are the nicest men and women you'll ever come across but I have noticed some mistakes on my carry-out orders. Trust me, it's honest mistakes, just be sure to check before you leave. Visiting my aunt and found this place for lunch while my sister and I were out shopping. Only downside is they are not where I live - I would be there every week! The saying goes too many cooks in the kitchen; this place has too many kids in the kitchen. Seven people back there, four of which were playing around, dangling a pair of white beats head phones over the cook line, on their iPhones, bumping into each other, not cooking or doing anything just hanging out. Made absolutely zero sense. This is troubling to someone who is sitting in clear view of the kitchen, waiting for their takeout order. It should also be concerning to the owner of this establishment, who is paying these people to play around. You can run that kitchen with 3 cooks. I ordered a custom calzone, I asked for mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce and pineapple, attached is the mess I received. My calzone was soaking wet likely from the massive amount of pineapple and the raw tomato that I most definitely did not ask for. I brought it home, moved it to a dish and had to drain it; it literally had a river flowing from its back end, which had broken through the crust to make the entire base soggy. We also ordered the children's pasta and meatballs and the chicken parm sandwich. Which were both sub par. The sandwich was not very reminiscent of chicken parmigiana at all; it was dry and thick. The sauce was rough, it had random spices and did not taste balanced. The tiramisu was alright and the coconut cake was good, but a little sweet. read more

It's separated into two sides, the deli/restaurant side and the bakery side. It's fast-casual dining so you seat yourself and order at the counter. The menu is extensive and filled with Italian staples such as pizza, calzones, stromboli's, subs/sandwiches (hot & cold), soups, and salads. It was hard to choose, but I went with Nanny's Meatball Sub and it was probably one of the best meatball subs I've ever indulged in. It sure was messy, but worth every bit of the saucy spillover. It came with three homemade meatballs topped with marinara and plenty of melted mozzarella cheese. Delicious! For dessert, I had to make my way over to the bakery side to check out what all they offer over there. Well, it quickly became apparent that you cannot walk out without getting something because everything looks that delectable. I decided to get two mini cannolis which are made fresh to order, and wow, they were amazing and the perfect size after consuming a big and meaty, hot sub. My MIL ordered a slice of carrot cake, and it was literally the size of a whole cake. Their slices are HUGE and everything on both the deli and bakery menu has great prices. We really love Marie's. It's easily one of the very best restaurants in Forsyth County. Their pizza is especially good. I also love their bean soup. Their bakery is amazing although I usually just look, but when we do buy desert, it's really delicious. Marie's feels like a good old fashioned family restaurant and that's what it is. I ordered a large pizza ( which I had also gotten a large pizza about a week prior ) , after hearing one of the employees tell an older gentleman in front of me in line, that " it's an Italian place , not Cuban ,after the older man had inquired about a "pressed sandwich " aka a panini?! I have to update my review with another 5/5. Rarely am I ever so impressed with a place but MARIE'S is that good. We made our way there today with our toddler and baby. It's extremely tough to eat out when places are not kid friendly, but that's NOT our experience at Marie's. The food - AMAZING. The staff- so friendly. The bakery - delicious. This is a cute local spot with great sandwiches, pizza, soup and desserts. It has plenty of seating and a very friendly staff. You can also get some premade items to eat during the week. We got the lunch special 1/2 dump sandwich and house salad with homemade balsamic dressing and 1/2 Michele's Italian sub and homemade sausage and lentil soup.
