No one likes being stuck on the side of the road. especially in 95 heat while with a baby. (eek!) When it happened to me, I called these guys to see if I could have my car towed there. They immediately sent someone to look at my car and took me and my baby to their shop to wait in the air conditioning. How amazing is that!? True life savers. I couldn't thank them enough! Austin then took me back to my car (twice thanks to the two truck being sent to the wrong address) so I could meet the tow truck guy. Parts for my car had to be ordered, but I got the call saying my car was ready early the next morning. I could have gotten it fixed for a little cheaper else where, but this customer service is hard to beat. Friendly (who would have thunk it? =p) and quick. Found Austin and his crew on Yelp - wanted to veer away from the crazy prices the dealer charges for maintenance (2005 Honda Pilot). Austin is a busy guy and rightfully so. I let him know what I needed on the truck and he went through pricing and explaining in detail as to what he would need to do. I wasn't sure if I needed balancing so he test drive my truck and checked it out - turns out it didn't need balancing and he didn't charge me for checking. Prices were way cheaper than the Honda dealership (and other local shops) and at no time did he try to sell snake oil to me nor upsell parts/services. Everything from service to describing what he did, to making sure everything was kosher before I picked up my car. I definitely will be bringing my other cars to Austin in the near future. read more

I've been taking my Honda Accord to Friendly Auto Care for a few years now. The work that has been done on my car ranges from simple oil changes, replacing brakes, to changing the timing belt. Each time has been very quick and efficient, and the shop owner Austin is very "Friendly" (haha) and accommodating. I work nearby, so on most occasions, I am able to drop off my car, take the bus to work, then return to pick up my car later in the day. Austin usually gives you a courtesy call to let you know that the car is ready. They do good, honest work and the prices are reasonable. What more can I say? read more

I needed an oil pan switched out and they were able to get it done by the end of the day even though I messed up by giving them an incorrect sized part, and were also backed up by other appointments! I was referred to Austin and Friendly when another shop was unable to fix my flat tire. Austin was quick to offer help and asked one of his crew to work on my tire. After a few minutes waiting, very few, they got to work on my car. The repair to my tire was super quick! The guy explained to me what he was doing during the process and what to expect for the life of the repair. Rear passenger door in my Honda CRV was not opening from inside so called up Austin to see if he can fix the problem. He said bring the car in. Austin's been taking good care of all of my cars and he and his staff does an excellent job on everything from oil changes, maintenance services, or water pump replacements. He services Japanese as well as European cars and they are always honest, no non sense and will not try to upsell you like dealerships that try to make a bundle on me recently. I was glad I gave Austin a call and had my car towed to him and they charged me half of what the dealer quoted me for a water pump and thermostat replacement. I have a 2001 VW Passat GLX and I had to change the valve cover gasket and I had one of my friends to change it at home with some after market gasket after one month every morning under my car i saw about a 2" oil leak. Talking with my friends and this auto shop is close to my place I went to Paul who right away looked at my car told me to leave the car over there and tomorrow to be ready and maaaan it was. Friendly Auto Care is really good for any kind of auto care! I went to this place for break repairing for Toyota Rav4 as breaks were squeaking. They advised me to get OEM part (rotor & break pads) for better performance and helped me even to get retail discount as well. All I paid was $70 bucks for the labor. Dishonest business practice. I have mixed feelings about this place because my initial service from them was good. They took me on short notice and were able to quickly solve why my truck wasn't starting. Shortly after, my truck started sputtering when accelerating so I went back. New wires, new fuel filter. Truck still doesn't feel right. I go back weeks later, this time it could be a coil or the fuel pump. I get a phone call telling me my fuel pressure is low and I need a new pump. Scheduled the appointment. Got quoted $450 for the pump and $250 for labor. Seemed a little high so I called another mechanic. This mechanic tells me $450 is the list price but he can get it for $250. Great I can save some money. When I get to the new mechanic he tests the fuel pump and my FUEL PRESSURE IS FINE. The coil is fine too. Turns out a spark plug is corroding. He changes the plugs and the after market wires I got installed by Friendly and my truck runs great. Don't lie to my face and expect not to get called on it. I'll never know if they knew about the spark plug the whole time, or knew the after market wires weren't right for my truck. Can't prove that but I know for a FACT there was never a fuel pump issue. It's been tested 3 times now. I would rather just walk then have work done here again. read more

Advised my sister to bring her car here to have them check a over heating problem and they ended up topping her oil and charged her $12 for a plain quart of oil without any other inspection. After checking the reviews i thought I would give this garage a try. I have a honda civic and had to check a noise coming in from the engine and occasional failure for the engine to start. I am utterly disappointed for the following reasons HUGE mark up on spare parts and repeat visits to fix issues with the car in a span of a week Paul at Friendly Auto care diagnosed the problem is due to fuel pump, tensioner belt not working right. He also mentioned the radiator is broken and needed to replaced. He seems to be in a hurry while answering questions on the phone and he didn't answer couple of my questions about the cost of the spare parts the first time. He charged 770 dollars for the radiator, radiator cap,water pump, tensioner belt and labor. Got the car back the next day evening. A day or two later, the car won't start. I had to tow the car back (tow truck driver checked and found that distributor coil is not generating sparks). Paul later said the same thing said it might cost 380 dollars and that we would give me a call the next day about the price. I didn't get the call from him next day and hence I called. He said the car is ready for pickup and the price is 340 dollars with 40 dollars discount. I asked about the price of the distributor and he gave me a whopping 280 dollars. Checking the internet, I quickly found out the price of distributor for 95 civic ranges between 140 to 180 dollars (different brands) and the brand he said is using is no where to be found on the net. This kept me wondering about the initial 770$ he charged me for the radiator, waterpump repair. After asking him some questions based on what I found on the net he agreed to charge me 280 dollars for the distributor with labor. Now, after couple of days, while driving i find the temperature indicator in the dashboard stayed at higher all the time. I was surprised that Paul or his employee who worked on replacing the radiator didn't check any of these. My wife took it back to him and now he says thermostat and gasket is not working and he is charging 70$ for it. All this in a matter of a week. If you have to go here and avoid getting ripped off, tell Paul not to replace any parts until he gets your consent. That will give time for you to check spare parts price. I personally would not mind paying full price for the labor. I see lot of asian (chinese speaking) customers and may be is good if you speak chinese like other reviewers say. I would never go there again. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there either. read more

Made an appointment for a brake job. They helped me replace pads, rotors, and flushed the system same day. I brought my own parts, which they had no problem with. The whole job took an hour, super fast and great pricing. I trust them with my brakes, arguably the most important part of the car. Had a problem with my exhaust on my Lexus IS250 and was receiving ridiculous quotes from local auto shops in SF. I was recommended to "Friendly Auto Care" by a good friend of mine and I was not let down. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the work they do. I was told that there was a leak in my exhaust and was given a cheap estimate of what it would cost to fix. They had me in and out of the shop in less than 20 min! My car sounds and is working perfectly fine with no other problems. Will definitely come back for a synthetic oil change as they also inspect your car for any other problems! Referred by my nephew, I went there 2 weeks ago to get an oil change on my 2007 C230. Synthetic oil for Mercedes ain't cheap, but Austin gave me a discount. Yesterday I got a nail on one of my rear tires and I had no choice but to went to the nearest tire store, which is in Newark, where I had the four tires replaced since they were not in very good shape. The mechanic did a complimentary checkup on my car and noticed the oil level was a bit low but within normal range. So I came back today asking Austin to check on the oil level. He had a mechanic check on my car and add a bit of oil free of charge. He even gave me the remainder of the oil just in case I need it quick. It is 3/4 bottle. I was embarrassed. read more
