Loud, seems to be for a younger crowd. We stumbled upon the Friendly Tarp tavern on a Saturday evening and enjoyed the vibes! The staff was great! The patrons were friendly just a little young for people getting up there in age. Nice live music. We enjoyed the draft beers and the Cajun boiled peanuts! They have a pool table & other games. Lousy food. Everything is cooked in the MICROWAVE . Boneless chicken wings aka chicken nuggets, fries, tater tots etc. There is no other way to cook the frozen food other than the microwave read more

A nice little neighborhood bar to grab beers and watch the game. I thought the vibe was good and the bartender was helpful. The prices are decent too. However, the parking was a bit of a nightmare, they only have beer and wine products, and the food was a bit subpar. I appreciate that they offer food but it felt like snacks you could get at the grocery store and not prepare food. read more

Maybe youve passed by this place on Gandy Blvd in South Tampa a million times. Next time, stop in. Its a great fun bar. Not exactly a dive, but with a similar feel. Its very clean and smoke free. The inside is warm and woody. There is a cool back patio where you can relax and watch games, if thats your thing. Not mine. The bartenders are all old school. The drinks are strong and prices are low. Restrooms are clean. Parking in front is tight. But apparently you can park next door at ABC Liquor and not get towed. This place is by far a hidden gem. The bartender JJ is fantastic and if you've been once, she'll know your name. This is by far the epitome of a dive bar hidden next to the ABC store on Gandy. The inside and size of the back porch is very surprising from looking at it from the front. They have a pool table, two dart boards, a TouchTunes, and a fabulous back porch with TVs. Our favorite part is they keep the fridge fully stocked with High Noons and we hardly spend as much as we think! We love this place as our neighborhood dive bar. read more

Tried to give this place a chance but still if they don't know you get the worst service and besides the weed being smoked by regulars out back other shady things are going on! Went to Barefoot Billys on Gandy in South Tampa and was happy to see a live band. What claims to be a friendly tavern turned to be an angry one. After the band's second set the Manager became very angry with the band threw them out abrupt and very unprofessional. Soon after the band was finishing up removing their equipment, she chased the singer out, threw bottles at the band and lock the front door to the establishment preventing patronts from entering and leaving. On top of this occurance I myself experienced some of her rude treatment and was also short change. I will never return to this place and strongly recommend against this establishment. read more

We went to Barefoot Billy's the day of Gasparilla and the staff was very welcoming, music was playing the whole time, we danced, played games and everyone left with big smiles on their faces.
