We came here on a Sunday for brunch to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. Knowing that our group can be a little "extra", we phoned in ahead of time to give them a heads up to prepare. By the time that we arrived, they had a table already prepared for us. The room was smaller than I expected, but overall, we were comfortable. Bel-Mar Bar and Grill offers a weekend brunch menu, as well as a daily lunch menu. What really piqued my interest was the $12 bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Mary and Sangria special. Like a true champion, our waitress kept the Mimosas full by the pitcher and was very quick and accommodating during our entire visit. We came hungry and it didn't take long to bury the lone cook in the kitchen. I ordered a burger with bacon and a fried egg. Hands down, this burger was worth the extended wait. It was HUGE and fresh. Definitely I'll be back for that alone. We ordered some Cuban egg rolls, but not enough, they were gone right after they were brought to the table. We also ordered some nachos, then even received an extra order as a courtesy because of the delays in the kitchen. We also shared a large plate of garlic parmesan chicken wings. I typically tend to sway towards baked or grilled wings in lieu of the fried variety, but to my delight, these were delicious as well. My girlfriend ordered the chicken and waffles. They were good, but probably a little too sweet for her. The chicken was decidedly spicy, but not too overpowering. My daughter ordered the cheese quesadillas with ground beef topping. I'm pretty sure that she was licking the plate just after taking her last bite. Overall, I was very impressed by the food coming out of the kitchen. Everything was consistent and no shortcuts seemed to have been taken. The serving sizes were generous and by the end, we had a fantastic meal. After all of the food was on the table, the cook came out to apologize for the food delays. We all have him kudos instead. Keep up the great work! I work in the south Tampa area frequently. The table shared the Famous Matt's Mix wings, which are wings seasoned with a mix of garlic parmesan, hot (buffalo sauce), and cajun seasonings/sauces. They mostly take like buffalo with parmesan cheese but are good. For my main I had the philly cheesesteak with curly fries. It was alright but not my favorite. The cheesesteak was small and the cheese was hard/ dried out. It left me feeling hungry and I ended up ordering more food to go with my dinner. I've previously had the quesadillas and wraps and would recommend those over the cheesesteak; specially the blackened chicken quesadilla and the chicken caesar wrap. I like Bel Mar, and it's about as good as it looks. The service is always great, even on busy days! The girls are super nice, and they go above and beyond. I come with a sometimes big group, and they've never been less than phenomenal servers. Their beer selection could be better, but hey. It's a sports bar aimed to a specific group of people. They're going to focus on mostly domestic non-craft beers. They have several options for vegetarians/vegans, and I like each of item I've tried. The food isn't phenomenal, but it's a sports bar and focuses on the atmosphere, which is understandable. I just have one small critique, and it's very weird. For some reason, every time I would order a veggie quesadilla, the cook staff add pickles. There isn't a quesadilla with pickles on the menu, so it was really jarring the first time it happened. Then it happened again and again, even when I would clarify that I didn't want pickles in my veggie quesadilla (and the girls would look at me like I have 5 heads). It became a running joke in my group, and it was really weird that it kept happening. I'm not sure if the cook staff were messing with me (I was there often enough that I was recognizable) or what, but it was really weird and I stopped ordering quesadillas. Lol. Hands down our favorite place to come and watch football on Sunday. The $20 champagne bucket is a go-to and they always have decent drink & beer specials. Chicken Wings are usually very good and I recommend ordering them extra crispy. Cuban Egg Rolls, Turkey and Gouda Sandwich, and Chicken Nachos are among a few of the regular go-tos for us. They also have a good chips & salsa and queso option. Just about everything we have ordered has been good. This place was AMAZING! My husband and I are "yelpers" - we make many of our restaurant selections based off what yelp images show us. I saw your wings and I HAD to try them. They did not disappoint. Upon arrival, we noticed queso & chips on the menu...my husband is a queso connoisseur...he named this the best in the area. The flavor was impeccable but more importantly, as it starts to cool down, it remains it consistency. Many other places harden up and thicken - this was perfectly smooth and creamy EVERY dip! Stay away!! Even the beef was off here. We ordered the Monday burger specials and our waitress suggested the wagyu burger, which I didn't think would be part of the $5.65 deal, so I said heck yes! I also asked for cheese and bacon and a side of truffle fries...no judgment please My husband basically had the same, but with tots. What came from that kitchen was NOT WAGYU!! When I saw the burger I asked about the cheese and bacon as it was not i closed and our waitress explained that it was INSIDE the patty!! What...I didn't ask for that and I that's GROSS the fries were also not truffle, but pick your battles! I cut the burger in half and I always do and the meat looked WEIRD, not just because it appeared to have a disease with the bits of cheese and bacon inside, but it was oddly sinewy! We tried the Cuban egg rolls and the meatball sandwich with fries. Two of us split the food. It was more than enough. The egg rolls came with a side of mustard and mayo mixture. They were delicious and I definitely could have ate more. It came with 2 egg rolls cut in half. The meatballs were ginormous. The sandwich was flavorful and not too messy. I did not have to eat it with a fork and knife. The French fries are like carnival fries. Crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. We sat outside. The music outside was a little too loud but it was a good mix of different types of music. Our server was attentive and nice. I checked in on the yelp app and was able to redeem 25% off my order. This place recently changed ownership and the friendliness of the staff really comes through. It's a small neighborhood bar with a ton of tv's so it makes for a great game watching place. Full bar and beers on tap along with great daily specials. The sandwiches are great and come with your choice of fries or my personal favorite, tator tots. The chicken sandwich I had on my recent visit was cooked well and served rather quickly once my order was placed. Most drinks are worth the cost (ie my Deep Eddys with splash of soda at $7 seems reasonable) however, hubs ordered a Stoli Moscow Mule which was $8 for the vodka and $2 for the ginger beer. I went to the bar, and stood there for a good 2 minutes less than seven feet where the bartender was standing. He was either watching a game or just staring into space. I got the fries that you can tell were hand cut, (says on the menu) which were tasty. After an hour I decided to get the boneless wings. I'll be honest, they didnt look appetizing. They were pretty good. The girl that was serving basically had the whole place. Not sure where the lost in space bartender went. I just finished having lunch here with my mom and I have to say we were quite impressed. The prices were excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious and fresh. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and she had the ground beef nachos and a side salad. My sandwich had just the right balance of bleu cheese, buffalo sauce, Swiss cheese and chicken and I was happy to see that the meat was grilled yet still very juicy and tasty. I noted the excellent happy hour deals from 11am to 6pm Sun-Thurs with both food items and drink items being nearly half off. Today's deal was Nacho Tuesday- nachos or $4 and you get Budweiser for $2. I'm uploading some pictures of there happy menu now. Pretty cool new place on Manhattan Ave (I've been told this is the old location of Toast). They have beer and wine as well as a food menu featuring mostly sandwiches. I did not have the chance to sample any of the food, but will return to try it. The beer menu was really good (Coppertail Unholy PINT for $6?!) and the food definitely sounded appetizing. They have indoor and outdoor seating with heaters for chilly nights. It was not very crowded on this particular Sunday night that I visited. Seems like a really nice addition to the neighborhood. Stopped into this new addition to South Tampa over the weekend . I have seen this location turnover constantly over the years so I was hoping this establishment will have some staying power . From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the owner Matt , extremely friendly and personable . First thing I noticed is the plethora of flat screen TVS on the wall . I came in to watch the Rays game but couldn't help but think how great this place will be to watch the football games in season! Ordered a beer off their extensive and detailed beer menu . Service was very attentive throughout , water was constantly re filled and never letting my beer get too low without asking if I need another on the way . Was slightly hungover from the day before so decided to go the unhealthy route with my food selection . While the menu is limited to things like a sandwich , salads , and small apps Matt let me know that they do not have a freezer and most things are made in house from scratch . I decided on the bacon grilled cheese and a side Caesar salad . Salad came out first and fast with delicious homemade croutons , fresh shaved Parmesan , and the lettuce that was not overdressed with a tasty version of caesar dressing . I devoured it! Grilled cheese came out hot and crispy on the outside with lots of gooey melted cheese and chunks of bacon on the inside . It looked like it was done on a panini press with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top . It was very , very tasty and satisfying ! All the other food around me looked very well prepared also and if it is anything like the items I ordered you can expect good flavor and satisfaction . Only knock would be the size of the place , looks very limited if it was a day busier than a slow Sunday afternoon . It's a typical sports bar. The food is only so so, and expensive for the quality. Their flatbread's are about the best thing. Tater tots are good, but get them without the seasoning. Excellent mojo pork Cuban sandwich with dipping gravy and home style (big and succulent) Italian meatballs with marinara sauce for $5 each plate. Additional sides of a really freshly made Caesar salad and sweet potato tater tots for $1.99 extra was added. Add really large tasty wine pours for $4 and we were happy campers. More big flat screen tvs than you can watch and your sports bar vibe is taken care of. The staff was friendly and accommodating to all our requests. Great hosting skills.
