BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front): Friendly Thai is an amazing experience for the taste buds. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone with food allergies or dietary restrictions because they take it seriously. Additionally they bring the heat, literally, I ordered my dish at a heat level 4 and it was no joke! The small dining area can fill up fast but don't worry, you can order take out ahead of time or order in house and take it to go. The food came out quickly after ordering but the ingredients in the dishes were fresh and each meal is feels thoughtfully prepared. They offer a variety of beverages including Bubble Tea, flavored hot or iced teas, mocktails, and soft drinks. From Rice Bowls, Sauteed Noodles, Fried Rice, Broth Bowls, Curries, Salads, Appetizers, and Wok Dishes, Friendly Thai has a variety of customizable meals that can accommodate everyone. The service was excellent, very attentive, and helpful to decide what we wanted for our meal. I always stress going out in groups but payment was made easy on the tablet and card reader brought tableside. Friendly Thai is closed on Mondays but are open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner, closing between 3 and 4pm and on Sundays for lunch and dinner starting at noon until 8:30pm. Don't wait, go check it out today!!!

Thai food is my FAVORITE food and this meal was definitely top 3 favorite Thai dishes I've ever had. Food was absolutely amazing, cute little intimate restaurant and good service.

    Dessert made with Taro root

We had the mostly delightful, memorable Sunday lunch (yes lunch prices) at Friendly Thai. We met the owner Toon who was so sweet and helpful. All menu items are authentic Thai recipes from her homeland, and oh soooo delicious! Easily the best Thai food I've had in the states. Her recommendations, right to the homemade Taro dessert were spot on each perfect in flavor and so yummy! My husband appreciated the menu layout. It offered same amazing food selections for lunch and for dinner; and prices were so reasonable for the amt and quality of food. Charming, delightful, delicious and very friendly Thai gem in a little nook of Groton. Highly recommend and placed in top 5 favorite eats of all.. will be back!

Our first time back to Friendly Thai after the new owners took over. We ordered spring rolls, chicken pad Thai, and tofu pad see ew. The restaurant has a new website with menu and prices and a link for online ordering but I couldn't figure out how to order online so we called in our order. Nbd. My husband said the interior is more inviting, it's brighter than before, and they are open for dinner service. The spring rolls were good, larger than previously, 4 to an order, and filled with noodles and veggies. My pad see ew was great, but my husband was disappointed with the pad Thai as it was pretty dry and not very spicy for level 5*. We think this was a fluke as we've never had this issue before and will be back to try it again.

Friendly Thai was delicious! I put in an order for 12 people over the phone and spoke to a very nice gentleman who repeated the order back to me and said they labeled the food so that we knew what was what without opening it. We picked up the order and had enough napkins and utensils packed with the food ready to go. The portions are family style and was extremely tasty! I'm the only one who didn't get mild, my medium spice on my Friendly Thai beef fried rice was perfect! My beef salad was spicier but tasty and spicy. Again, I had enough to save for another meal. The mango sticky rice was amazing. Everyone was happy w/ their food - chicken and shrimp pad Thai, mango curry, green curry. I always get worried about large orders like that, but they hit it out of the park! We'll definitely be ordering from here again on our next visit.

Food was delicious! Glad it was nearby our motel while we were visiting the city. It's unassuming from the exterior, but worth visiting! Ordered the green curry and the eggplant long song. Both were full of flavor with an adequate spice level and of good portions! Rice portions were sufficient too, which is always a plus. Service was friendly and quick! Couldn't dine in due to COVID, but take out was still enjoyable!

Just terrific! A simple place with a substantial menu. Best of all they'll adjust the spicing and really know what that means.

This time we decided to get take out and eat at the house. We ordered online which was easy to navigate. We got pad Thai, Hong Kong noodles, two rolls and potstickers. They had a discount if you spent $60 you'll get 10% off. I went to pick up the food and it was ready when it say it would be. Inside was nicely decorated like the last time I been here. There was also plenty of seating. The host handed me the food and I was glad they separated the sushi from the hot food. We got home to eat dinner and I tried the pad Thai. I got level three and it was not spicy enough for me. Maybe next time I will get a 5. As far as the taste... there was no flavor and the noodles seem to a bit under cooked. I was expected that spicy, tamarin sour and sweet flavor that is normally in a Pad Thai but didn't get that. The potstickers and sushi were pretty good. Overall it was decent but could be better. Maybe it was an off day.

The menu had a little bit of everything ranging from Thai to sushi to Vietnamese, a very fusion type feel to it. The service was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. Three items were ordered and tried. They consisted of the sushi nachos ($14.95), bao buns with chicken katsu ($12.95) and the Mystic River roll ($19.95). The nachos had diced tuna, sliced avocado, Pico de Gallo, topped with spicy avocado sauce and tobiko and served over fried wonton skins. There was a nice portion here. I thought they were going to be small wontons, but this was a pleasant surprise. There was a great ratio of flavors, and I really enjoyed the small dicing of everything. The bao buns were topped with sliced cucumbers, spring onions, carrots, and some type of sweet hoisin sauce it appeared. The chicken was very crispy and tasty. The bun was okay. It was a little tough. I did enjoy the sweet factor from the sauce to pair with the hot and crunchy chicken. The Mystic River roll had tuna, salmon, mango, as well as avocado topped with spicy mayo and was wrapped in a rice wrapper. This was alright. There was a lot of mayo present, which took away from the fish flavor, but it still was not bad. The rice wrapper was an interesting choice, but overall, okay. Will I go back? Probably.

The owners are from Bangladesh, and they are quick to point out that this is not an East Indian restaurant but a fusion restaurant (I have never been clear on what a fusion restaurant is other than expanded menu).
