This is the best Thai food. I am obsessed with the beef drunken noodles and the pineapple chicken fried rice! The basil wraps were also delicious!!

Nam Khong is an unassuming Laosian restaurant in a shopping plaza anchored by a hardware store. The food is served fresh and hot. This is one of our favorite spots for a healthy, quick, and delicious meal!! Heads up, it gets busy when the summer residents arrive. The restaurant is on Rte 1 in Westerly. Wonderful family run operation. This makes all of the difference!

After many many months of not eating here- hubby and I were greeted by the owner- by name! That's always very impressive. He chit chatted with us even before we could look at the menu but not in a bad way- we totally enjoyed the conversation and it made us feel like catching up with family. For starters we ordered the fried spring rolls with chicken and the fried Brussels sprouts. They make it so good here. It was perfect. Had to keep myself from licking the plates! Hubby opted for the Lao style Seafood Pho. The selling point was that it's made with real chicken broth- not msg filled bouillon. It had lots of scallops, a few shrimp and some tender squid. I chose the ginger duck. It had a nice gingery sauce with ginger matchsticks, snow pea pods, baby corn, peppers, and onions. The duck was nice and crispy. I also had a pot of Thai green tea. I've never had it before but it was very floral almost like a jasmine tea but I couldn't put my finger on it. Also smelled sweet like dulce de leche or something. The only thing was -- it's seriously green! Like spirulina kombucha lol. I really enjoyed it and I am a huge tea drinker. Peter, the owner, seems to like it a lot too! He says that since he's discovered the tea, he's been drinking it daily. While eating - there were about 3 take out orders, another couple eating, and a group of 7 who seemed to be on their lunch break and they called in their orders. All the apps were ready upon arrival and they only had to wait 5 min max for the rest of their food. They seem to make a trip to Nam Khong quite often. They offer beer and wine now. There are also 2 small tables for outdoor dining. Please give this place a shot! The food here is delicious!

Food was excellent and service was great, they answered any question we had and did so with a smile.

    32. Khao Sol -- stunning noodle soup in yellow curry. This one is with chicken. You can get it with pork, beef, seafood or duck, too.

The food and service was excellent. The portion served was more than I could eat. The Fiery Pad Thai is spicy hot and delicious.

It's located in a plaza so parkings are readily available. When we got there it was early just when the restaurant opened so it was empty. Inside is small with some seatings and tables with bar area. Once we sat down we took a look at the menu and placed our order We got tsunama crisp and divers scallop appetizer to start. They were both good but tsunama crisp was our favorite. Scallops were good but pairings sauce and salad in the middle was ok. Garlic noodle was okay as well. Bit strong on the soy sauce but needed a bit more depth of flavor or sweetness. Sushi was good. I personally liked the eel roll. Service was good and waitress was attentive. Overall it's a solid asian restaurant offering decent sushi and asian food in the area. However it's not unique since they don't offer m anything that is significantly different from other asian restaurants. Since it's a bit far from where i'm located not sure if i'll return unless I'm already in the area.

The restaurant appears to be a little mom and pop shop. Upon arrival the hostess was on the phone and just waived us off to seat ourselves. After her phone call she did come greet us and bring us menus. It was pretty empty during late lunch a little after 1:00 p.m. Decor and ambiance was as I mentioned earlier mom and pop shop feel. The menu consisted of Thai and Lao food we tried a few things but found the flavors lacking in a few areas. The pad seew was very close to being traditional Thai Pad seew, but traditionally there are never any carrots or cilantro added to the dish, the cilantro which I normally love cilantro was too floral and made the Pad Seew taste like soap. The Lard na was deemed "just okay" by my father in-law again the randomly added carrots. The sausage was over priced for literally 1 sausage cut into smaller pieces and lacked flavor and it was a bit gamey. The cucumbers slices served with all the meals were too mature to be served the way they were, just huge thick slices, if you're a gardener you'll understand. The papaya salad I don't recall anything good or bad about it. The squid salad was not what we expected but still good, again nothing that makes me say I need to try this again. Would we try it again "maybe."

From being on my "must visit" list, to eight months later, finally making my way into the…read morerestaurant. I had done some research and knew it was a small space so I was praying there would be enough open tables. When we talked in, there were about 3 tables open. It took a bit to get seated since the host/ server was busy getting together online orders and bringing out food to other customers. But after a couple minutes, we were allowed to pick our own table. They have 3 two person tables to the left, on an elevated platform. To the far front of the space, there were two booths which could easily fit 4 people each. To the right there were 3 tables for 4-5 people each. We went with the bigger table, but moved after a couple minutes to another table for a more private setting. For an appetizer, we put in an order of crab rangoons. As my entrée, I ordered the Khao Soi with seafood and my friend ordered the beef salad which comes with sticky rice. The crab rangoons came out after about 10 minutes. They looked crispy, and were wrapped in a cute, round way. The filling wasn't as creamy as I wish it would be, but it did taste a bit healthier than regular Chinese take out. The entress came out after about another 10 minutes. My Khao Soi came out with a big bowl, with some lime and peanuts on the side. I asked for more lime and cilantro on the side. The broth was a very vibrant color, creamy, sweet, a little tangy from the lime, and because of the cilantro had a fresh and clean flavor. I loved the combination of all the flavors, and it reminded me of a curry. The noodles were soft, but not falling apart and there was a good amount of it. There was plenty of seafood including calamari, shrimp, and mussels. The calamari was a little tough but the other items were good. I loved the crispy shallots on top as they provided an additional sweet but savory element. I finished the entire thing. My friend's salad was good. It was simple in that it was salads and herbs with minced meat but it tasted good. The sticky rice came in a ball wrapped in aluminum foil, and then put into their authentic little basket so it was full to pull apart. They do have a dessert menu and we were offered some, but I had no space. It seemed like the server was handling a lot at once so kudos to him and the small but mighty team in the back cooking everything up. I would be interested in trying other items on their menu.

An order had 6 of them. - Garlic green beans. Delicious. Lots of flavor and nice texture and bite. The favorite of the table that night. - Brussel sprouts. Not a large portion. Lightly fried. - Pad Thai with chicken. Light and well prepared, all sauces and flavors melded together nicely. - Fried rice with pork. Light and delicious. Good portion to share among all of us. The restaurant does not take reservations and because there are less than 10 tables in the entire place, sometimes wait times can be a bit long. Many people do take out or DoorDash. Still, it's worth it. Laotian / Thai food at its best in Providence.
