I get take out from here pretty regularly and the food or ice cream is always great and ready when they say it will be

Around the holidays a lot of people get nostalgic. I was local and yearned for the Monster Mash! I headed in for the adult version of my childhood meal. The 'World Famous Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup' was what I ordered. The soup...was bad. Like expired, not heated/defrosted properly, clumpy. Not interested. The grilled cheese, subpar, but for $10; you can't go too wrong. I could have settled. However, I ordered a Monster Mash to go after dreaming of it all week. The first bite was not the throw back I was anticipating. You can tell just how un-ice cream their formula is now by the mouth feel let alone flavor DOWN TO THE CHOCOLATE CHIPS. Fake mint flavor, seed oil based, and oil shards of chcolate... last time I will ever go to Friendly's. I guess this is a reminder to leave memories be! read more

Trash food and they are cheap. Barely anything in my wrap I ordered. Took a couple bites then opened to see a paper thin amount of lettuce and chicken just cut and put there without breaking up at all. Pathetic excuse of a wrap. read more

My Husband and I were there last night. There had to be maybe four tables that had patrons. We ordered two ice cream cones with two scoops of ice cream took 20 minutes for the girl to come back and she came back with one and a cup and the other one on a cone laying in a plate that was melted. I walked up to the front and asked why would you serve somebody this they could not understand it was disgusting. Not only that the place smelled like mold, sulfur and mildew never will go back there again. It was an awful experience. Now I understand why they're closing all the friendly. read more

I have tried Friendly's on two separate occasions now, both times being just meh. It was never a place I scoped out on my own, it was just the most convenient option at the time, with this visit being on the way back from a road trip. This was my first experience dining in at a Friendly's, which we were quick to learn was a mistake. I felt bad for the staff, but it took forever, and everything felt very chaotic for being in such a small building. It seems to be what the baby of a Steak N Shake + Bob Evans would look like. The food is not bad. They do have a lot of options as well. This location in particular has a window you can order to-go at. I doubt I will go to Friendly's again, it's a regional chain that just isn't really worth it in my opinion. read more

This is probably the worst restaurant I have ever had the misfortune eat at. Went there while visiting the Sturbridge area with my wife, daughter and her family, six of us all together. All aspects of this restaurant were filthy - the floor was dirty; seats were sticky and even the menus were disgusting. The restaurant was full of flies and actually smelled like urine. For some reason, we decided to stay and order food; which was a huge mistake. Without going into great detail, all the meals were horrible. The burger I got was not just the worst I have ever attempted to eat (I couldn't), but it is actually in contention for the worst food I have eaten this century. The wait staff seemed to consist mainly of teenage girls. They were friendly but clearly neither trained nor supervised. No one seemed to be in charge. Since this chain is known for ice cream, we decided to order some for dessert. It arrived mostly melted and for some reason did not taste good. Even my young granddaughters would not eat theirs. When the ice cream arrived the dinner dishes were still on the table. Our waitress removed about half of them leaving the rest. I moved the remaining dirty dishes to a nearby empty table where they still sat when we left. This restaurant is an embarrassment to the Friendly's chair. read more

Friendly's stays slaying. I ordered some appetizers for takeout. SO SO GOOD. First of all was greeted by a very polite lady, she made my heart melt. They were very quick and the food was super warm still, ice cream frozen. Although it was busy it was very nice in the restaurant. I didn't sit down but they did sit others waiting very swiftly. This place is such an old staple in Auburn! I was there a few months ago and it really seemed to be struggling but I recently went back and it was like the place just came back to life! It was literally like a whole new staff running on all cylinders! New uniforms, laughing and joking with the customers and I even met the new GM whom I believe her name was Sara. The food was great, looked great tasted great and was served by great people. So glad this location is still around and that they are thriving. If there's one thing I could say needs improvement it's just the dated appearance though it still looks far cleaner and nicer than the last time I was in. I finished my meal with a Jim Dandy which was actually brought to my table quickly by one of the young ladies working at the ice cream counter. These guys are really doing things right and it's so great to see! Can't wait to go back. read more

I'm giving my visit here a 3 out of 5. Our server was quite attentive and friendly, but the place was woefully understaffed and it felt like an environment of loosely organized chaos. It wasn't clear to me who was in charge, if anyone. There were also two errors on the orders given, which were fortunately corrected. I feel that there is a lot of room for improvement, but that has to be taken seriously. As ice cream goes, the variety is unmatched, which is why I still come here. read more

Gross! Tried giving several chances. Never again. Order sundaes. Get a med and a large and I can fit them both into the large cup it came in. Not like it used to be. Very skimpy portions. And the food is gross. Over priced. Frozen. Just thrown into containers. If u order thru grub hub u won't get what u ordered. I Will not be doing business here again. Where is management? This place has the potential to be good again but someone needs to get rid of the rotten septic smell that hits you in the face when you walk through the door! More importantly, the restaurant, ice cream section and food area, are all absolutely filthy!!!! First time here. Went with the girlies. Our server was Jenn and she was pretty awesome and sweet. We ordered a couple of waters and a lemonade,two of the sampler thingies, forgot we didn't order the chicken tenders that we were craving in the first place, but she rang in an order of them for us. Of course we finished our meals with some ice cream. I got cotton candy. So so bomb! It was a little later in the evening, maybe, 8-8:15, there was still a buncha peeps there. Hoping at least THIS Friendly's will stay open, totally forgot how much I love this chain. Honestly, the only reason why I'm giving y'all 4 stars is because the booth(the part your bum goes on) kept moving off and scared the crap out of me every time lol. Had lunch here over the weekend with a friend . We had both skipped breakfast and decided to do a late lunch here . My clamstrip plate was fine but we suspect his turkey wrap was the cause of his food poisoning symptoms the next day . He began violently throwing up early in the morning , experienced hot/ cold spells and remained in bed for the balance of the day ...too weak to get up. Went tonight for dinner. We did pick up since there is currently a pandemic. Order was placed at 4:58pm. Estimated time for pick up- 5:26 awesome right? WRONG! After waiting and waiting and waiting and being told that my order was coming right up I finally received my order at 6:10! Not a big deal except my food sat behind the counter and when I finally made a comment about how long I've been waiting they found my order sitting on the counter. My food was Luke warm. We ate in the car so it wasn't like I brought it home. While waiting the two girls working were very unprofessional. They were talking bad about the people who were waiting calling us stupid, ignorant, and the list goes on and on. They said it where they thought they couldn't be heard or seen but we could hear them. One girl even said loudly "are these people retarded? I'm not answering the window! It's too cold out for that crap" and the other girl replied "they need to go home and not worry about eating then maybe they could loose weight" Will I be a returning customer? Probably not. I was in the area recently, when I heard the scream from the back seat, "I want Friendlys." So off we went for a grilled cheers sandwich for the munchkin and a chicken strips basket for me. There was a little miscommunication because she was disappointed to see a plate of sliders delivered. Our waitress was quick to come back with the wished for sandwich making everyone happy. For that quick fix, we give an extra star. It's funny but I think the service is better when you dine with a child. Just throwing that thought out there. read more

Stopped here on a trip up to New Hampshire for Labor Day weekend. I always enjoy stopping at a Friendly's on road trips. I don't think I've ever gotten anything on the menu other than the BBQ chicken melt, but its truly one of the best items any low price chain has to offer. Service is always quick, and they're always located right off the highway. Our experience here was pretty good. 3 of us got the BBQ chicken sandwich, and another got a burger. The chicken sandwich was obviously good, however the burger was pretty downright bad. Tasted only minimally above a fast food burger. I do have a complaint. They offer an iPad-like thing on every table. As we'd been in the car for 6.5 hours, any form of entertainment was appreciated so we all played a little trivia game on it. We were pretty surprised to see that they included the trivia game on the bill! It was only 2 dollars, but it makes you feel pretty nickel and dimed especially when it never seemed to show us that we were paying for it, or if it did it wasn't particularly clear. Might be irrational to get riled up over 2 dollars, but I mean come on, we basically used an iPhone app. Overall, had a satisfying experience here. The service was quick and the food was what we expected. I wouldn't hesitate to stop here next time I drive through Auburn. read more

I have always loved friendlys - especially the prices. Right now they have a limited $5.55 menu - sandwich and fries for $5.55. What a bargain. My annoyance with the chain in general is that it is sooo slow. Why should it take an hour for a sandwich? So today we went to the Auburn friendlys. As soon as we were seated and the waitress came over, I told her that we had to be out of there in 1/2 hour. Kathleen did everything to make sure that happened. We got our beverage, food, ice cream and check and were merrily on our way in 30 minutes. read more

This is the smallest Friendly's ever. Its nice inside, but it feels like you are eating on top of your neighbor. And some of your neighbors can be um overwhelming?! :-D Service is good, but hit and miss depending on the server. But its Friendly's, not the 111, so keep that in mind too. Their ice cream and melts are great comfort food, and how can you not like their grilled cheese? HOW? :) read more
