This app wouldn't let me find the Wayback Burgers in Providence RI on Branch Avenue so I picked the one it gave me but this review is for Providence. We went to WayBack Burgers last night. I'll never go anywhere else for a burger again. Way better than 5 Guys and cheaper. The Burger meat was well cooked and juicy, the veggies were fresh and crispy. The buns were soft on the outside and toasted. This was truly Burger heaven. The fries and tots were crisp and tasty. The service was impeccable, you order, get seated and they bring the food to your table. It was an experience. We need many more of these at strategic locations around the state of RI. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Look, I'm a snob when it comes to burgers. There's a vein of burger chains that sits sort of between the gourmet, sit down burger places and the super-cheap quick, fast food burger places (e.g. McDonald's, Burger King). These are sort of fast food type places, but they're not super cheap. To me the big names in this space are places like Five Guys, The Habit, Shake Shack, Smashburger, and In-N-Out (in no particular order). To be fair, I think Shake Shack and Smashburger are the lowest on list in terms of value and quality. Frankly, I don't think they (Shake Shack and Smashburger) are worth it. With that TLDR introduction in place, I have to say that Wayback is solidly in the middle. There's nothing flashy about it, it's solid, but there's also nothing special about it. It's a solid well-made burger without too many frills. That being said, I'm not sure I'd go back, I feel like I get about as good or better at home. That being said, I'd still probably pick it before Shake Shack or Smashburger but not Five Guys. To me, it's pricey for what you get. read more

Yuck. That's all I can say. My husband wanted to grubhub McDonalds and I insisted on trying this place. We don't order out often and I'm disappointed we spent our takeout budget on this place. I got the buffalo chicken tenders and fried pickles. These are my absolute favorite foods. Usually I get buffalo tenders from Wings over Worcester. They are the absolute GOATS of buffalo tenders imo. The only problem is their portion sizes are all enormous and I hate wasting food. I decided to try this place and....ugh. The texture of the buffalo tenders is weird. It doesn't have the texture of chicken. It's like...a weird consistent uniform texture all the way through. Meat doesn't have a uniform consistency. I think they might have cheap chicken with a lot of filler or something. It was nasty. The sauce tasted good but the feel of the gross "chicken" in my mouth made me gag. And then the fried pickles aren't breaded with cornstarch and seasoning. They're just breaded with flour. What sort of basic b stuff is that? If I wanted crummy fried pickles I could do it myself (mine would be better, because I would use cornstarch and seasoning). So here I am 8 months pregnant with no dinner and about to go toss all this gross food, grumble about the money wasted, and find something to eat in my kitchen. Like...ugh. I wish there was a way to tell if food would be garbage before ordering it. I know I'm a bit of a picky eater, but it would make my life if restaurants would post all info about ingrediants (like the grade of meat used) and how food is made online. This place has been here a while and I've always overlooked it every time! I'm glad I finally took a chance to try it out because this burger chain is just as good as any made-to-order, freshly made, "better burger" joint out there such as Five Guys, Shake Shack, Mooyah's, Smashburger, etc. It doesn't take much to make a great burger, as long the meat is juicy, the buns and veggies fresh, cheese is melted and condiments are plentiful, and are accompanied with a generous portion of fries, I'm good! They have done all of that with good service in a nice, clean establishment. Glad to have this around and definitely will be back! read more

Too expensive for what you get. My biggest problem is their treatment of delivery drivers. They either need to stop pushing all online orders to the back of the line, or they need to change their estimated wait times- I have never had an order ready on time, and they are usually 10 minutes or so late. They also have no designated line or area for pickup orders, so you have to wait in the line with people making orders before even getting to talk to someone. read more

We gave this place a try recently after seeing mixed reviews that it was a great place for burgers. It's a small place, and you order at the counter like most places of this price range. There's s bunch of different sandwiches to order and you order what you want on it. They have fries, onion rings and fresh potato chips along with milkshakes. We each ordered a burger with bacon and my husband got the fries and I opted for the potato chips. It did take a little while for our food because everything is made to order (and fresh food does take longer to make). The food came out and looked delicious. But, it was just average. The bread was cold and cake like, and the fresh potato chips were hard and dry. It was definitely better than McD's, but not as good as Five Guys. Wayback Burgers is what I remember Wendy's being like as a kid. These aren't gourmet burgers, but they aren't low quality grease bombs either. You get two smashed burger patties that are juicy, but not so much that the burger falls apart in a sloppy mess. These burgers also aren't all that big, so you won't feel like garbage after finishing one. They have some of the more traditional non-traditional topping options (BBQ sauce, onion rings, etc), but the classic cheeseburger is still good. I'm not sold on the fries, they are better than Wendy's, but come under-seasoned and don't have much flavor on their own. Still, they're fixable with some ketchup. Wayback is also pretty good value. A burger and fries won't set you back that much more than at one of the major chains and the quality is much better. read more

Both of burgers were made perfectly to our liking and the onion rings were big plentiful and delicious . Ok here's a little about how good their cheesy burger is. I drive out here once every two weeks to pick up my daughter from New Hampshire. I PURPOSELY STARVE MYSELF FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE all day when I know I'm coming out to be able to eat two of these beautiful creations THEN I take one home too. I know, it's bad. I have eaten at many a burger place in my days, and in my opinion this ranks in the top 5 in the world. A cut above! Saw this place next to walmart and been meaning to try it. Quite the tasty fresh burger. I got the Philly Burger with onio, mushroom and white American. Gwen had the Cheesy burger. The beef was excellent, nice fresh tasting roll. Also had beer battered onion rings. Classic frozen product but they were still very good. Price wise and quality they are on par with five guys, that us sticker shock for some but you get what you pay for I think. In a side-by-side choice at this point , I would pick this place over Five Guys. Have not tried the fries or chili yet. read more

When I called Wayback to let them know the woman who answered the phone said sorry, you will need to call DoorDash. Ive been there a few times (and have even done the triple triple challenge in under 6 minutes) and have to say that the quality is good. Not bad. Not amazing. Just good. Decent taste and always fresh ingredients The quality is about as good as wendys but its on the more expensive side. Paying extra for fries instead of a combo meal is a downfall for me because who doesnt love a burger and fries? The wait for the food isnt long The employees are always happy to serve the customers and do their jobs there's no attitude like some other burger places I've been to. For the price its a bit on the expensive side because there's no choice to get a meal (burger, fries, drink) The milkshakes are pretty good too but id still prefer the mcdonalds one even though here you can watch them shake and blend your milkshake together so you know what they're doing and not just holding a button to make really soft ice cream pour in a cup. NOT A FAST FOOD JOINT. Very important to remember. Once you keep that in mind, this place is amazing! Their burgers are super fresh and tasty, great toppings, chicken is freshly grilled and fried. The fries are on point, the chili cheese fries especially. The hotdogs hold all their toppings because they are split and grilled which is so tasty. The whole menu is on point and the place smells amazing. My only regret is not getting onion rings because they looked so good. I also didnt get to try their milkshakes but everyone was getting them and finishing them wicked fast so they had to be good. Def going back here again. read more

I'm a big fan of Steak n' Shake when I travel down South, so I was hoping this was something similar. Well it turns out that it is and it isn't. While, it's a burger joint that sells shakes, there are no waiters or real plates and silverware. I got a double cheeseburger that was much better quality than anything you'll ever get at the big fast food chains, but would come up short against Five Guys or Shake Shack. Burgers are priced reasonably, but do not come with sides, so you'll easily spend $12+ once you add fries. My wife got the chicken fingers and they were HORRIBLE! Smallest chicken fingers I've ever seen and they taste like straight salt. She got the mac and cheese bites with her chicken and they were surprisingly good. We also got an Oreo shake which was delicious, but by no means huge for $5. Chili cheese fries were excellent and probably my favorite part of the meal. Service was good and fast and the place was clean enough. read more
