This place is horrible we purchased a car from them they did a shady transaction and didn't even give us a receipt for our purchase shame on us for not asking for it as I was too busy in a rush with work. The next day the car was taken back and they wanted to do nothing with it they were horrible they dismissed us we called the police they did nothing because we do not have a receipt the owner Glenn was horrible. I would never take a car there to be repaired or even recommend them my experience was overwhelmingly disgusting. Buyer beware ..... I caught this auto body shop red handed trying to rip me off and charge me for work that did not need to be done when getting a state inspection. They stated I needed struts, brakes and rotors ($2000 in Work) and would not pass me for it. I knew better and I work on my car myself, checked and everything was good. Took it to a second mechanic, who without knowing about this experience, said my rotors were in incredibly good condition. Do not go here unless you want specific work done, and most of all do not trust them! read more

Went in for rear differential replacement. Told me I needed new brakes and rotars. I knew this couldn't be right because I just had my brakes replaced 7,000 miles ago, by friendly's. He put me on hold and came back saying what I already knew and , big surprise, couldn't explain how that was possible. Imagine my shock. All of the sudden I really didn't need new rotors and he was replacing all the brake pads for free. I went down there and confronted him in person and again he couldn't explain how it could be possible that brake pads could wear down in 7,000 miles (because they can't). He insisted that he was doing me a favor. How nice of him. I obviously won't be going back and if you plan on going there, please do a little research so you are armed against the BS. read more

Absolutely terrible place. I went here based on a recommendation from the girlfriend of the owner who I will specify I did and do not have a personal relationship with(she was my personal trainer for 3 months) about 3-4 years ago and I must say I'm completely shocked to see good reviews. To sum up my experience, my car was about 4-5 years old at the time and I asked the owner to TAKE A LOOK at it for something minor. I stressed that I usually take my car to Volvo and to please call me BEFORE doing any work so I would be clear of any charges and what was going on. He kept the car for a day or two and then I called to find out what was going on ...I couldn't get in touch with anyone for three days and then when someone finally did call back he told me that the car was completely fixed and that they would charge me $500 being that I was a friend. This was unexpected and somehow the owner would no longer speak to me...after speaking to my trainer, he told me to pay $200. They stated that there were so many problems with the car because cars these days are electric/have computers so they are so sensitive. I was mad, but being that I didn't want a problem I said ok and took my car back. The next day I took the car to the doctor about 15 minutes away and then when I went to drive back home...it STOPPED. Completely...I called the owner from the side of the road and he could care less about talking to me. Finally I got upset and his employee got him on the phone ....without hearing anything he picked up and started screaming at me: cursing and flinging racial slurs everywhere stating that I was too poor to have such a nice car or even live in the area among other things. Needless to say, I was left on the side of the road....and when I had Volvo pick up my car(tow it) they stated that the car was left with NO FLUIDS in it from whoever had just worked on it and that due to that the engine had burned out. I had to get a NEW ENGINE which cost me thousands. If I had more money, I guess I could have sued but at that point I didn't have the money and the hassle was just too much. Dropped my car off for inspection, brakes, and windshield. Get a call from them saying tires are on sale and mine are going bad. I said no thank you just do what I came in for. They failed me for bad tires. Went to a different shop for an inspection next day, passed, mechanic said "your tires are fine they just wanted your $" Enough said! read more

Terrible experience. They put in the wrong oil and never admitted any wrong. Their response? 'We have no way of knowing what was in there'. How about just doing what I asked, and the oil that was in there was on the current window sticker. Then the owner said 'well you never spoke to me'. Well, I thought the woman that accepted my car and entered the order, that works for you,was enough. They also took 3 hrs for an oil changed I waited for and never replaced the wipers I requested. I understand people make mistakes, but be accountable and then fix it. He lost my fleet of 4 cars because of his 'I don't care' attitude. read more

Had a flat tire. Drove my car to his shop. The first thing that came out the guys mouth was you're gonna need a new tire if you drove on it. No thanks buddy. Just wanted the guy to repair it. They did it for 20.00. every other place charges 10 for it. Been driving on the same tire for 5 months now. Apparently, I didn't need a new tire. Please read the other reviews. Guy gets off on trying to get you to buy stuff you don't need. Be an honest mechanic man. read more

(took safelite autoglass 2 hours when i lived in bellmore...) boss told me car will be ready by early afternoon. didnt get my car back until 6pm and half the work wasnt done.. avoid this place, unless you like getting jerked around. read more

If i could give this place less than 0 stars I absolutely would. First they come off quite friendly, but I later found that they charged me over $1500 for work that did not need to be done when getting a simple inspection. My car was given back to me with a "passed inspection" but was completely undriveable and dangerous. DO NOT use this place if you wish you avoid future issues. read more

Located just a short walk from my apt, this is a great find. I had my first experience with Friendly's last week, as my '96 Camry needed a lot of work. I brought her in around 10:00 and picked her up the next day in the afternoon. They took the liberty of doing a few extra repairs they thought were necessary, and I'm glad they did. My car drives and sounds so much better. Pat is a friendly guy, reflecting the name of the business! Not once did I get the impression that he was doing me favor (an unattractive quality in many business owners I've encountered in New York), but appreciated my business. These guys are pretty good. Glen and Dave; but they are brothers and look alike; and one is nicer than the other--you'll never figure out who's who. Generally I've had pretty good luck with them over the last few years. They are pleasant, not surly and know there stuff. They will check-out a car you may be interested in buying and look it over very carefully. The work they've done has been consistently problem-free. I guess my only complaint is the price, which tends to be expensive! Go find a cheap mechanic in Southern L.I. if you can; but if you can't these guys are definitely ok. read more

I'm currently fighting with them at "Friendly Auto ". These robbers charged me $500+ for basically a tune up and to fix my horn back in July to get the check engine light out so it could pass inspection. Then the check engine light comes back on right away but I didn't go back. Now the horn doesn't work so I asked them to look at it. They tell me it's going to be $150 for this, $250 for that, etc etc so I say no just park it on the street and I will stop in to pick up the key. I stopped in there and they refused to release my car unless I pay them for the time they spent checking it out. They wanted $150. So they want me to pay $150 on top of the $500 and change I already spent to not fix the problem! So then they say we'll lower it to $97. I say no I'm not paying anything. They refused to release the car. I told them I would file a complaint against them with the BBB but they didn't care. It even says on their website free diagnosis. What a bunch of thieves. I just walked out in disgust because I didn't need the car right away because it's a 2nd car but what if I was living paycheck to paycheck and this was my only transportation to work? Oh and the girl at the counter could not have been more rude!! Like I said it says free diagnosis on the website so if they continue to refuse to release my vehicle I may have to call the cops. I got work done on my car there a few times. Every time the mechanics we friendly and pitched me a deal that sounded good. After one mechanic told me it would cost around $600 for new breaks and rotors i knew something was up. After that i started researching the actual cost of parts for repairs i needed and what kind of work would need to be done to change the parts. At this point I'd like to say go any were else, they over charged me and scratched the crap out of my new paint job and got oil and bird crap all over the hood. They can't even do an oil change right, i checked my dip stick after and it was dry (Apparently I'm not the only one they shorted on an oil change either). I'm definitely glad i didn't trust them other wise my engine would be dead right now. The only good i got out of this bad experience is that now i know a lot more about my car and how to change oil/breaks. read more

I would give - stars for this business if such rating has existed!!! My experience with this place is/was more personal than everybody else has had. I know some of you will read this and say here we go again ,another disgruntled employee(in my case former employee).SO after reading my story i let people be the judge. So here we go, I worked for this place for total of 2 weeks, when owner Glen checked my resume 3 times and finally set up an interview with me, He spend nearly 2 hours trying to convinced me to work with him saying that his place is in need of good leadership and discipline and WILL pay me salary+commission based on break even sales figures.So we hand shake and I started working at the place next week.Barely 1st hour into work day car comes in for Oil change and my colleague Rob(the liar, rubber)starts working on the car,I offer to help him with oil filter he tells me (barely knowing me less than an hour) he doesn't feel like changing oil filter(how about that for starter)i said to myself wow strike 1. then for the next car he sells brake adjustment and brake flush and he only washes away brake master cylinder reservoir so it looks clean and no adjustment ,then days go on he gets customers with works that do not need to be done.when I ask him(well literally confronting him) about his practices he says money has to be made and we can make a good team and kept insisting that Glen(owner)will not fire me and he tells me don't ask glen about money he doesn't like that. so i asked him when and how does he pay your commission he said whatever he pays him he is ok with it, i said you may be ok but i won't. I need to be paid what i'm promised and owed. So, 1st week comes to end and according to sales numbers we made roughly $7000 over break even figure . yeay i'm expecting to get a nice salary for the week(but happy with work practices) but only to find out i only get base pay,well i figured Owner needs to go thru numbers and will pay me next week. Fast forward to next week. roughly about 2 hours before we get pay Glen disappears and around 1:30 Rob comes back shop with pay envelope I open it a and much shocked to my eyes I get base pay again, at this point i am fuming and asking Rob questions about this and he tells me he knows what i am going thru Glen has done to him in the past. (at this point i'm really angry and knowing the place is wired (glen told in our interview place is wired so he can listen) i'm raising my voice so he can clearly hear my displeasure. so we Closed the place for the weekend and i text him and ask him when am i going to receive my commission ?He tells me when we get BREAK EVEN number and he will talk to me on Monday. Well Monday comes I come to work he pulls me a side and tells me whatever we talked during interview is not going to work out and tells me I'm an angry person. and he lets me go. WHY DID I WRITE THIS REVIEW? 1- PLACE IS A DISHONEST WITH CAR OWNERS 2- MAY BE I CAN HELP NEXT PERSON WHO MAY WANT TO WORK THERE CONSIDER WHAT HE/SHE IS GETTING INTO.GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!! 3- TO TELL PEOPLE THAT BY NOT PAYING MY COMMISSION GLEN DID NOT HURT ME, HE HURT HIMSELF & HIS BUSINESS. p.s: 1 star is for him, I appreciated that he gave me a place to worship during work hours so i can do my obligations to my CREATOR!!!. We went to Friendly for roughly ten years. Pat is a very courteous person however we had some extremely bad experiences with him. We had to wait eleven months for him to fix a transmission and then the transmission only lasted 18 months. After telling him about this, he said there was nothing he could do for us. Pat also replaced the computer and the electric never worked properly after that. Pat also never ordered replacement A/C vents we asked for many times. Nor did he supply paperwork of work done that we asked him to do many times. read more

These people are terrific mechanics - professional, skilled and courteous. They brought my '98 Mercury Mountaineer back to excellent running condition (it has 170,000 miles on it). It was running terribly - needed work and it had to pass inspection, but that was no big deal to them. They knew their way around this car and did exactly what was needed and no more. Brought the car in the morning - I had it back that evening. They drove my wife back home when she dropped it off. Go there with confidence - they will repair your car properly and won't pad your bill. I have had minor work done there in the past, but this was major. They are friendly AND honest. Every time I walk into an auto shop I am fully prepared to be told my car needs expensive and unnecessary repairs, but not this time. The owners are some of the nicest guys I have met. They made my repairs quick, cheap, and correct. Best of all I didn't get the dreaded call that we all get from repair shops after we drop of the car telling me the 10 different nonexistent issues that need to be fixed. My wife has been taking our old car to Friendly for three or four years now for maintenance and servicing and they have always been very reasonable. Let's face it, nobody like bringing in their car anywhere for servicing but as far as we are concerned, with about half-a-dozen experiences with them, Friendly Auto and Body (I'm looking at the business card as I write this) deserve the highest rating for an automotive service center. They were rude and wanted to charge me for fixing what they broke. live in long beach and forever seeking an honest mechanic. this aint it. second time he hit me for wiper blades with an inspection. I brought in a car with 7,000 miles on it. i'm meticulous when it comes to my windshield. I wont drive a car with a spec of dust on the window so I change out my wipers at the drop of a hat. the wipers are a month old. he banged me $70. bucks for an inspection including $30. bucks worth of wipers. last time I let it go but this time I know they were brand new wipers so for a quick $30. bucks he lost a good customer with 5 cars in the family. if you have no choice he does decent work but he will stick you in the pooper if he can. I guess anything for a buck. I wont give him another penny. avoid. read more
