Found this place when we moved to the neighborhood around 4 years ago. Incredibly honest and fair people. Never have I felt like I was being upsold or taken for a ride. Bobby is incredible! I'm not sure what was going on here 10 Years ago at this establishment that is skewing their Yelp ratings, but this is an honest and fair mechanic that goes out of his way to fit you in, even when he's slammed...especially if your in the neighborhood. I have been to several auto repair shops in Long Beach and no great stories to tell about any others but finding Bobby on the West End was a good thing. We stayed with him when he moved to Empire. Bobby is honest and knows his business. This is a tough business too, so if you have realistic expectations and are polite, you will receive great service. They don't do unnecessary work to pad the bill. You get what needs to be fixed on first shot for a fair price. Andy is a nice guy too. read more

I do not know who Andy is or more likely was, but Bobby is in charge now and he is a great guy. Took my car here after another local place could not figure out what was causing a noise, but found $2500 of work to do anyway. As the noise was growing louder I went to Empire in hopes they could find the issue. They did, and after fixing the problem Bobby only charged me $40. So as you might guess, I will be going to EMPIRE Motor Group and dealing with the wonderful Bobby from now on. I do not usually write reviews but after having such a great experience with Empire, I had to write this up. Thanks Bobby you have a customer and recommendations for life. Andy and his crew do a fantastic job in all manner of car repairs/maintenance. He brought my truck back to life after a relatively bad accident. He worked with my insurance company so that my dealings with them were kept to a minimum. My truck runs and looks good as new. read more

Spoke to ANDY about my New truck that had been rear ended and need a new bumper . Took it round for him to see the damage , he quoted me within 2 hrs , which is pretty impressive seeing my truck has only been on the market for 2 months ... Took my car there as I live 3 blocks away and like to support a local business. My mistake. Andrew called me with a diagnosis that did not make sense. He charged me $200 for what turned out to be a misdiagnosis. I had the car towed to another shop that charged me less than 1/3 of the cost of Andrew's initial estimate to fix the problem which was obvious under the most cursory visual inspection with the car on a lift. The other shop fixed the stuff that Andrew messed up that was unrelated to the problem. Andrew is not a good mechanic. I do not know about the rest of the people there. (They were all quite polite.) For $200 wasted there it was a cheap lesson- good place to avoid. read more

I have been going to Empire Motor Group for about 10 years. They are honest, reasonably priced and convenient. The receptionist is not the friendliest woman in the world but don't let her put you off. These guys know what they are doing and they will never try to sell you a service or a part that you don't really need. Ok where do I start. I don't even want to give these rip off criminals a star but I'm required by yelp. First off the staff no matter if its the manger to the disgusting rude women behind the desk there is no friendliness or customer service even in the slightest amount. You may be reading this and think i might be exaggerating but i couldn't be more correct. These people are the rudest, obnoxious, scumbags of the earth. They are the worst people I have ever spoken to. Second the work they do is not horrible. Whatever you come in for does get fixed and will run or look good, but then for some reason another problem will pop up. So you decide ok this is normal because your car might be older and needs upkeep so you go back and get the repair. But what do you know. Another problems becomes present and now your suspicious. Guess what? That suspicion your feels is 100% right. These criminal mechanics rip you off by changing crazy high rate, fix your car, but break another part of your car. Let me give you a couple examples about my NEW LEASED CAR I HAVE HAD FOR A YEAR. First I had to get a simple inspection. I come in they look at my car and tell me i have to drive 50 miles. Not unusual I heard of this before. But then I come in again they Im told I need to drive another 50 miles, wasting my gas, time, and miles. Then I am told I need to brake pads. In addition i was changed an astronomical amount that made me leave the shop ASAP. Second and this one really pushes my button. I come in with one of my family members cars to have the interior on the roof redone. I drop it off and pick it up a couple days later to realize there is now a leak in my sunroof, that was never there prior to this repair. So i come back to the shop and question the rude "lady" at the desk why it is leaking and i am given an entire speech that it has nothing to do with the repair and that i cant cause them of this. They ask if i want them to repair this leak and i literally said "you people will never touch my cars again" and left in a hurry. I urge you as customers just looking for a repair NOT and i mean explicitly NOT to go to this shop. They are theirs and con artists who take advantage of us as customers just so they can make a quick buck. Please boycott this shop so they must close there doors for good. I HIGHLY recommend going to the Mobile Gas station and mechanic shop at 390 W Park Ave, Long Beach, NY. The people who work there are friendly and are honest hardworking employees who have NO other premeditate plans like the Empire Motor Group. Once more I urge you to take a stand against criminals like this. They should have there mechanic shop license revoked by the NY State Department of Motor Vehicle and also should be reported to the Better Business Bureau for mis-pratice and fraud. I hope this will make your decision easier in who not to choose to work on your car. A car is something that is expensive. Don't take risks on a mechanic shop that will most likely mess with your personal vehicle you may rely on to get you around to where you NEED to go. Thanks you, John N. read more

the review from the biker who pulled up and got a free bolt at this place must have held a gun to their head...because this place will ROB YOU blind if you don't know any better! I took my car to have a water pump replaced which should have been a simple job. I left the car there and they told me they would call me to tell me when I could pick it up. I NEVER got a call and when I called them to inquire when I could pick up my car, Andy told me to stop by. When I got there (on foot because my car was at the shop!), he told me that the brake line had broken and the car was on the lift and I couldn't get it out of the shop without paying for new brakes!!! I had NO problem with the brakes before I brought my car into the shop but somehow while they were working on it, they broke!! Can you say CON ARTISTS??!!! I had no choice but to shell out almost $700 and they BOTCHED the job and didn't bleed the brakes, so I almost hit someone when I tried to stop!!! So, if you'd like to get ripped off for BAD SERVICE, this is the place! read more

I've been bringing my cars to Andy at Empire for almost 15 years. Can't say enough good things about the work. Always fast and done correctly I've never felt ripped off here like at some other local shops I used to take my cars to. Automotive repair work is seldom cheap but at Empire you get great service for fair pricing. Plus, he's a local guy that has lived in the neighborhood forever. 5 stars all the way. read more

Zero stars. I'll never go to Empire ever again. My rear brakes are making Loud scraping sounds. Loud like you can't miss it even when going slow, even when going 10 feet. I say " I need new brake pads'. Silly me- instead of actually listening to the car and immediately hearing/knowing that the rear brakes are the problem, he (Andrew) puts pads on the front. I don't even know if the non-squeeking, front needed new pads--but because I didn't use the correct terminology--apparently 'break shoes' go on the rear -- he proceeded to put pads on the front and 6 hours later, charged me $172.39 for the useless service he provided. I told him he may as well have changed the windshield for all the good it did. I chalk it up to Andrew being either a rip-off or incompetent. Take your pick-- but don't waste your money here. read more
