I was in the area for business, and my associate commented we hadn't seen an open Friendly's forever. Took the risk, and glad we did. Friendly's is an old favorite and a real treat whenever we get a chance to visit. Over the years, they have been disappearing, so we definitely want to come back for as long as they stay in business. I always get the same. The Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup. (except for when they didn't have it on the menu for some strange reason) It's just great comfort food. And gets you ready for the big sundae, which is always the Reese's Pieces Sundae with chocolate chip ice cream. It's the best. Service was great. No complaints. Can't wait to come back! read more

The issue is the outrageous prices for the amount of food you get. $16.50 for what should be a kid's portion of chicken tenders and fries is insane. The fries weren't even hot, they were warm at best. $9 for a small plate of Mac & cheese is also ridiculous. Also, the Cherry Coke being regular Coke with cherry syrup was gross. Went for sundaes the other night. I ordered the Reese's peanut butter cup sundae and hubby vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. I asked for extra hot fudge and peanut butter sauce because they skimp on the toppings not like the old days when you got decent toppings. The waitress brings it and it was all vanilla ice cream with two little spots of fudge and two spots of Pnb sauce. Very pathetic especially when I asked for extra. I had to ask her to get me more and she brings Back a little plastic cup with decent amount of fudge but the peanut butter one has maybe a tsp of sauce in it. What is wrong with these people. I was very disappointed to say the least. I wish I had taken a picture to show how it just looked all white with spots of syrups. Do better Friendly's!!!! read more

This place ain't it. We show up for dinner last week, because my daughter is absolutely addicted to ice cream, but we wanted to get some food in the little girl before giving her her fix, so needed a place that had both. I remember Friendlys being a nice, family, golly gosh gee, spot for kids, but apparently they've fallen on hard times. This is the Friendlys that lost it's job at the factory, and has been hitting the bottle pretty hard after his wife left him for blowing the rent money at the racetrack. Upon arriving, we see that the place doesn't have AC. (it was upper 80s that day.) They DID have some commercial floor units to try and mitigate anyone literally dying from heat stroke, but all they did was make the temperature in the room uncomfortable versus dangerous, and took up valuable real estate in the annoyingly small dining room. But, it was late, and we needed to eat, so we toughed it out. We get sat, and EVEN BEFORE SITTING DOWN, I turn to my wife and say "do you want to just go somewhere else?" The table was gross. It wasn't bussed, properly, and wasn't wiped; or if it was, was wiped with the worlds filthiest rag. There were food particles, crumbs, streaks, sticky spots.....ugh. My daughter had a stuffed animal that my wife immediately grabbed so that it wouldn't even touch any of these surfaces. She then ran to the front to get us seated somewhere else. The hostess came over, holding back an attitude, and visually inspected the table before relocating us, but even she must have agreed it was nasty, because they did move us to a less disgusting table. *I* was ready to pack it in at this point, but my daughter started her "ICE CREAM!!!" chant, so we decided to not push our luck. We ordered from the less than inspiring menu, and I went with a turkey club (safe option) and wife went with a wrap. Daughter got fries. Our server knew NOTHING about the menu; "Does the wrap come with mayo?......I don't know....Does it come with cheese?.....I don't know...." but we got the order in. Side note, I think the oldest person here, from wait staff, to hostess, to line cooks, was like 19. It's ALL children here. Anywho, the food comes out, and while it wasn't BAD, it was a sandwich I could have made at home for a LOT less than $13. The Misses's wrap was "wet" and again, a meal that would've cost $3 using what was in your fridge already. The ice cream after was.....ice cream. *shoulder shrug emoji* Nothing to write home about, and they were stingy as FUCK with the chocolate sprinkles. Not a single chance we come back here. read more

The service is okay, it took a while for our waiter to come and take our orders (maybe 20-30 minutes) and my dad had to go ask the host about it, because people around us were getting served. But the food was actually pretty good. I got the turkey club and it was surprisingly good! We also got the mac and cheese bites to start, they were pretty good they could have used more cheese though, thankfully they give you cheese dip, otherwise they probably wouldn't have been as good. When I think of Friendleys, ice cream comes to mind. Memories of childhood outings to get Sundaes or splits, even the quick cone. Recently I noticed Yelpers mentioning a half price breakfast, so let's give it a try. I think the promotion varies by location, at this one it is available until noon everyday. I had the cinnamon swirl pancakes, I enjoyed them, possibly even more when considering this was a $4 meal. It came with a choice of sausage or bacon, the swine strips were pretty good, very thin but perfectly cooked and with a nice smoky flavor. Trish selected banana pancakes that were served with a strawberry sauce, I think mine was a little better, but this was good. Both basically were average diner quality, but served quickly and by a very nice waitress. I regret not getting a sundae, but after all it was about 10am. You can see families with tables full of smiling kids and old couples out for a week night date at "their place". Where do you find this golden memory of yesteryear reenacted nightly? Friendly's!! The prices are OK and the service is, well, friendly. I have a soft spot for casual dining family places. Places like Shoney's, Frisch's Big Boy, and Perkins are all part of this genre of family dining kitsch. Friendly's falls in there, too. With one basic difference, huge amounts of ice cream are readily available. Tonight I had a very basic Tomato Basil soup with oyster crackers. I think it was in step with Campbell's best efforts. My server "Wil" was super friendly (har har, but he really was). He suggested the "Jersey Burger". This is an American cheese cheeseburger with "ham roll" on top. "WTF is ham roll?" you ask. It is sort of like SPAM or Bologna luncheon loaf. It is pretty tasty. It adds a little zip to your burger, not unlike Hardee's excellent Baloney and Velveeta biscuit. The waffle fries were hot and crisp. I washed it all down with a strawberry Fripple (milk shake). It is a place that can bring back a memory or two from days gone by, can satisfy kids and parents alike and can fit your budget. I call that a winner. read more

I have great memories of Friendly's - the one that was on the white horse pike (Berlin?) many moons ago, anyway. We'd go there often as a family and I'd usually get a chocolate 'Fribble' with chocolate sprinkles (ie - jimmies!). My dad used to let us bring up the bill & our payment to the cashier too and I'd think I was hot sh*t. My first job was at my high school and when I left, the girls took me to Friendly's and I had a bloody cheese burger (even back then!) and a Reese p. butter cup sundae (I think -were they out that LONG ago?!!!). I don't think I'd go there for lunch or dinner. I'd be ever-tempted to get the unhealthy 'clam (strip) boat platter.' I was very impressed w/ our visit yesterday b/c you usually wait, wait and then wait some more before you get your order, even when only one other table is there, but our food came out quickly. Our pancakes were pretty good. Vince had the 'cinnamon' bun and me, the 'banana and strawberry', pancakes. It was certainly no Turning Point but they were good pancakes. Some diners can't even make them as good. My scrambled egg side was mediocre at best but I wanted some protein w/ my breakfast. It also looks like it was remodeled and cleaner than I recall. I'm not sure how long the 50% off breakfast menu (including beverages) will last but if you don't feel like making it yourself, treat yourself here. read more

Basically glorified diner food, but with tons of ice cream sundae options. We took the kids here for the first time & of course they loved it! There are 2 different "levels" of kids meals, which is the only reason I could see someone going here. The prices are either $5.99 or $6.99 I think? They get a drink, "entree" and choice of sundae. Plus a free balloon on the way out. It's totally worth it for a once in while treat. They very frequently have coupons in the Sunday paper. We ended up paying $27 before tip for 2 adults & 2 wee ones. Can't really beat that price considering we got 3 desserts with our 4 meals. I've gotten food from this Friendly's a hand full of times. 2/5 times was decent. The other 3 times ... trash. I grew up a friendly's lover so i try not to give up on them. My fiancé is pregnant and wanted to give them another go. We get in and the sever says "just 2. You can follow me" and then says "we turned the grill off it's only ice cream" ... they didn't close for another 45 minutes. Me and my fiancé both work in the food industry. When you close at 11.
