I must say if you grew up in South Jersey Woodbury Paulsboro, Gibbstown, Mullica Hill, Deptford, Pennsgrove Swedesboro anywhere in that area you must have to know of a small Mom and pop shop called Don and Berts. This place has been a staple in my life since I can remember in my childhood and every now and then I come home and I need an nostalgic Reminder of my childhood and Don Bert's soft serve ice cream with sprinkles or Jimmy's and if you know, you know what I mean when I say sprinkles or Jimmy says, yes there's a difference and then the piece that resistance is the cheese fries. Nobody does cheese fries like Don and Berts. They have this resembling taste of McDonald's fries but elevated because there's just the way they do it. It's fries cheese fries more cheese and then they do this little signature thing but they just basically stick off work in it pun intended because when you taste them you're done and I come home and I get it and then I got a soft serve ice cream because not everybody serves chocolate and vanilla on the same cone with such ease And then you get the rainbow sprinkles and the chocolate jammies and I get it turned over in a cup because I don't eat that fast and I don't wanna run it out of my hand but there it was but please keep in mind if you are ever in Paulsboro New Jersey and you wanna stop at Don Bert's Please have cash in hand and if you don't, they have an ATM but it is a cash establishment oh let's not forget didn't get a picture of it but my daughter got a sausage egg and cheese. Breakfast sandwich on Texas toast we went back to my aunts house who lives up the street I have never seen my child in hell a sandwich so quick She tried to cut it in half and eat half and save it for later but like three seconds later I literally watched her open it back up and finish it. D&B's been around for decades. It would not have been so if it was a mediocre custard stand. It is a iconic and nostalgic. The likes of places that are well known in Philly. But this one is in Gloucester county, south Jersey. Something served here will always be a favorite and will certainly be a repeat of patrons who try it for the first time. This was my first time visiting this custard shop as I have just moved into town. I'm a huge ice cream lover and so my expectations for ice cream are usually pretty high. For the hard ice cream I will grade this place a 5 out of 10. The ice cream did not look very appealing nor did they have many flavors available. Their soft serve ice cream was okay but again just the three flavors. They did have many different menu items which was a definite plus. From Ice Cream floats to Sunday's to Super Sunday they kind of covered it all. They also had water ice however according to my husband Rita's Water Ice is still better. I will say the next time I go here I will definitely try there burger and cheese fries. They seem to be crowd favorites. Everyone seemed to be coming out with Burgers and Fries and to be honest they looked and smelled absolutely delicious. So that maybe their strongest items on the menu. But I will have to taste test and get back to you on that one. I'm really hoping this place turns out to be phenomenal because I'll be living in this town for the next 30 Years and I sure do love my ice cream. I've been going to D&B's for years. It's one of those local places that's almost become a tradition to go to. It's a take out place, most people eat in their cars or at the picnic tables outside. The burgers are pretty thin, so don't expect one or even two to fill you, but I like thin burgers so they're fine for me. My favorite thing to order are the cheese fries... many people love the cheese fries here. Other menu items include cheesesteaks, chicken, and of course ice cream.
