By far the WORST location I've been to! Went just for ice cream after my son got out of urgent care and waited at the pick up window for 25 minutes. All while a call ahead order came in (they never started making it), friends who worked there came in, and instead of continuing to take a woman's order the girl left the register mid order to talk to the friend and the inappropriate language that was happening in the kitchen! This is a family restaurant! You shouldn't be talking about someone else's balls while standing in an open area for all to hear! So disgusted! Once I finally got my sons shake, my ice cream was incorrect and only partially made! (I had a frenzy and it was only filled 1/2 way up the cup!) only bonus is I saved calories! No stars the service was unacceptable from the minute my party of five walked through the door. The employees ignored us for about fifteen minutes, we were sat the waitress got our drinks wrong the soda syrup was out she had an attitude when we told her about the drinks. The food took way too long and we were the only black people in the town it felt like really, it was just too much of a coincident that all the other customers after us were sat in a timely fashion and received drinks and food with urgent attentiveness. So unacceptably rude and classless. We asked for the bill and someone dropped the bill off and we had to flag them down like a 1990's cab stand to pay out so we walked the bill over to the register and for 20 minutes we were firmly ignored I asked for the address to write this review 3-4 times and they did not speak to me or anyone in my party. To top this off we chose FRIENDLYS because it was my best friends Birthday and that's where she wanted to eat. Thanks a fucking lot I promise it's only because I can't post this with zero starts they definitely don't deserve the one star shown. I serve in Boston for years this was ridiculous. read more

We stopped here for lunch. Myself, and daughter. She ordered chicken pops. She received standard chicken fingers, without the sticks. To me, no big deal. To her, the end of the world. I ordered a burger and fries. The service was quite slow, and it was about 40 minutes before our food arrived. It was another long wait for the check. While waiting, I noticed that the seats in our booth were ripped badly, and the table needed to be cleaned. The burger was served medium, although I had requested well done. The problem that I have is that I ordered their new avocado grilled chicken sandwich but I asked if I can have it crispy instead, I was told yes I can have it crispy. They bring me buns with three chicken strips in it which is not what I ordered and without mayo. Friendly's? Name says it all doesn't it? Start off with the pictures on the wall from when Gardner use to be a good city, 1940's? Don't get your heart set on taking home a pint of there signature icecream, the fridge has been empty every time, maybe broken, just try one of the four local supermarkets in town, plenty there. Getting a table anytime of day, good start. We've been here for there 50% of breakfast, lunch and ice cream window. The breakfast is a bargain even if it is mediocre. Take a peak into the open kitchen, there is usually only one guy working back there, and a bunch of giggling teenagers on there phones. But were you really expecting a celebrity chief? Salads not bad, loaded waffle fries and cheese sticks, what you'd except, no complaints. Prices right on for what you are getting, especially breakfast. Icecream window?! So you go up in order and there is a fabulous young man running the ice cream window, taking my order and a full line behind me on a weekend night, he seems to be getting a little of overwhelmed as his giggling coworkers can be heard shouting funny remarks his direction, not assisting and not busy. And THE PHONE ringing the entire time and he even remarked someone get the phone please! And no one ever did. I wouldn't suggest calling in for anything here. We will be coming back. read more

I work at a local nursing facility and we order from here freaquently. Well, today we placed an order online and wanted to add ice cream to the order and they were not answering their phone after multiple tries. The delivery boy informed us that sometimes they dont answer the phone... my co worker wasted her break to go down there and pick up the order...the manager (shawn) did not apologize and told her the phones do not work today!! Don't bother with this Friendly's! My wife and I have been here several times, always trying to give this Friendly's one more chance. And every time, they disappoint. The service is consistently bad. The waiters and waitresses are unfriendly, unhelpful, and unapologetic. Last time we ate here, they completely forgot my wife's order, and offered no apologies. The food quality continues to go down hill. The BLT, a perennial favorite, has now been shrunk to include just two slices of bacon. I might even accept this, if not for the hefty $7 price tag for such a sandwich. For some reason all Friendly's, not just this one, seem to think that they are in the same league with Applebee's, Chili's, TGI Fridays, etc, but they simply do not offer the same dining experience. In fact, in some cases, Friendly's is more expensive, while providing a lesser dining environment, wrought with crying children, and unhappy employees. As I said earlier, this hasn't been a one time experience with this Friendly's, but my wife and I have said "enough-is-enough." We won't be going back. read more

I used to come with my children all the time and service and food was very good. Stopped by today with daughter and granddaughter. Ordered shrimp plate with a side of chowder. Daughter ordered buffalo chicken wrap. Chowder came out luke warm. Waiter had another on made up for me. Daughters buffalo wrap came out as a honey mustard chicken wrap. Shrimp was good .Fries were cold. Cole slaw was nasty .Daughters first fries were cold. Waiter had them remake her wrap and we took it to go. Restaurant comped the wrap and my chowder. Customer next to us complained about the cole slaw . Waiter handled it well. I dont blame him it seems that back of house needs attention. This Friendly's is hot and cold. Either it's really fast and the staff is really friendly....or not so much. The amount of patrons in the restaurant doesn't really seem to effect the above stated... Either way, it's a great place to bring kids, and is an overall crowd pleaser. read more

I went to this friendlies tonight to get some ice cream to go and the lady at the counter gave me a peanut butter sundae in a bag, while i am extremely allergic to peanuts. i ordered a chocolate sundae and didn't realize the sundae i had actually gotten until I had got home. I had to drive back to the friendlies and get the ice cream I actually ordered, and I told the manager my situation and she did not care at all and told me it was my fault for not specifying my allergy. In my mind, I expected to get the ice cream I ordered, so I didn't think stating my allergy was necessary as i just ordered a chocolate sundae. The manager was extremely unprofessional and did not care in the slightest that the ice cream given to me could have killed me. I love this restaurant. The waitresses/servers are always respectful even when I'm difficult (I was very upset when I came for a salad one day and they were out of it, but they were completely compassionate and helped me make a decision based on my dietary needs). It's always clean and the meals are always affordable.. I love going to breakfast with my friends and spending less than $30!! Although all of the servers who've helped me have been nice, my best experiences are with Tarrah. She is very professional, compassionate and accommodating. Every experience I've had there has been enjoyable so no disrespect to any of the hard workers there (trust me I worked in food service before I know how it is!) but I wish that I could be assisted by her every time I visited. Decent fast food. The place is always jammed so you know the food is fresh. I have never had a bad experience with the food whether take out or dine in. The service can be slow sometimes though. I like the fiver deal for the cheese burger, $5 for a decent cheeseburger and fries. The frappes and sundaes are good also but I find they are not so generous with the toppings or sauces. My husband and I often eat breakfast out on Sunday mornings. Today we went back to Friendly's......probably for the last time. The place was packed but we didn't have to wait for a booth which was great. While walking past our table, our waitress told us her name and that she was our server and that she would be back shortly......15 minutes later she came back to say Hi and start her shtick. We asked for coffee, and ordered our meal since we had plenty of time to decide what we wanted. We got our coffee and my juice, and that was the last we saw of her for a while. 45 minutes later the Manager brought our meal out....it was stone cold...but by this time we were so hungry we ate it.... I've heard too many horror stories about what happens in a restaurant kitchen when you complain about your food, so I kept quiet and ate my cold omelet and even colder toast and homefries. The crowd had been steadily thinning out , but as a previous reviewer stated...I don't think the size of the crowd mattered when it came to the poor service. There were at least three people in the kitchen cooking and plenty of waitress staff. Even if you want to blame the kitchen staff for why it took so long to cook the food....you have to lay the blame for the temperature of the food directly on the server. If you know that you have tables waiting for food, you should be johnny on the spot when that food is ready to be brought out. There are lots of foods that can sit there and wait for you to pick it up, cold sandwiches, salads maybe..... but not eggs, not toast, not pancakes, not breakfast food of any kind.... It's unacceptable! I was glad that our waitress, never asked how everything was....I was glad that the manager was bussing the tables and not polling the diners on the quality of their meals/experience.... because then I would not have been able to lie, I would have come clean immediately.. I felt bad for the people sitting behind my husband ....because they got he exact same service from the exact same waitress.....and still hadn't gotten their food by the time we left. I heard two other waitresses apologize to a table in another part of the restaurant for the long wait when they brought out their food. We left a $2 tip on a $23 bill, and commented that the service was SLOW! Of course we walked up to the register to pay, because Sue never came back to get our check, you know....after she slid it on the table while walking by without stopping or saying "I'll take that when you're ready"...or saying anything for that matter. Friendly's is Friendly's. It's mediocre chain food at best. My only issue here is service. I've been here half a dozen times with the kids and have yet to receive a correct order or any order at all. Even when there's only 5 patrons in there, it still takes upwards of a half hour to get somebody to come over for a drink order, never mind the 2 hours I once waited for my meal. The staff is extremely dramatic and complain over customers, but this is probably the norm. My son has always been obsessed with this place. Its always been ok but the past 2 times ive visited,the experiences were horrible. A few weeks ago I ordered a salad, it took forever to get it and there were like 4 customers there.3 bites in i get a nice reddish gray root hair wrapped around my lettuce. Our waitress apologized and said she will replace it and wouldnt charge us for the new hairless one....umm no thanks! Nothing taken off the bill,nothing to replace it because i felt sick after that. Now tonight we just got ice cream at the takeout window...i put in my order for 2 friendzs...10 minutes go by...3 girls come in and get waited on...another 10 min goes by...theres their ice creams and theyre out the door....10 more min we finally get ours and they were so melted....no sense complaining to anyone at night because nothing gets accomplished.
