    Cream chip beef and scrapple
    Dori N.

More than two thumbs up... this place is everything you'd want in a local mom-and-pop breakfast spot! As a Pennsylvanian, it felt like home with cream chipped beef, scrapple, and all the Philadelphia sports memorabilia--it was like dining in a Delco favorite. The servers were so friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was both delicious and plentiful. I love this place! Go BIRDS Go PHILS

My husband and I decided to check out Friends Cafe for breakfast. Their sign says "Come in as strangers leave as Friends". Unfortunately very misleading, we came in, seated ourselves we were brought menus but were not greeted. The lady asked what do you want to drink? My husband ordered a coffee, I just had water. Another lady came and asked what we wanted to order. I ordered sausage and cheese omelette which came with home fries. My husband ordered the Belgian waffle with 2 eggs over easy and bacon. Our food was brought out, it was ok. My omelette wasn't a true omelette it was 2 halves of cooked eggs put together with cheese in the middle. My husband said nothing special about his waffle. We had no idea that our bill was put on table under a plate when our food was brought out. We did enjoy looking at all the different license plates on the walls. Happy we checked it out but nothing there as far as food or service would want us to come back.

French toast, biscuits, I think these were meat lovers omelets with an extra egg, mine had extra jalapeños.

Friends cafe was an amazing experience, the decor is nice, really liked the license plates from all over the world. My wife and I had fun picking them out. Saw one of the oldest plates, I think it was from 1914-ish. Staff were super friendly and patient with us ordering. The omelette was big and filling, though my wife and I added an extra egg for protein. The French toast was delicious. Definitely would recommend!

Breakfast at my favorite place finally with the hubby my dad and Big brother best breakfast in Flagler. This cute little place has to be one of my favorite places for breakfast. Anytime you go in the service is great and everyone remembers you by name. We've been here so much that I don't even have to have a menu and the waitress Mikey always knows what I want. Great food great service, great people

Such a friendly happy atmosphere as you walk in, It got friendlier as we continued to our table. The decor was walls were decked with fun license plates and car photos. I had the banana walnut pancakes and boy were they ever good The food portions were generous and tasted excellent. Waitstaff were nice, we loved it so much we went back for breakfast the next day.

I wanted to love this place but my eggs in the eggs Benedict were seriously under cooked - cut into them and clear gooey egg white was there. My family's dishes were good though, no complaints there, and the hash was really good - nice and crispy on the edges. The sausage gravy is a little heavy on the pepper which my son enjoyed, but I thought dominates the dish too much. The eggs over medium were cooked like a normal 'over easy' - runny yolks but whites cooked. Maybe the cook just makes all the eggs a little on the raw side? It is a cute little spot and the prices are very reasonable, I would go back but I would order just basics and asked that the eggs be cooked a little more.

Great little place - neat decor!

Friends Cafe is a wonderful little eatery with a small town vibe and a wholesome feel. The staff is super-friendly and welcoming - although this was our first time in, we were treated like regulars during our visit. Come on in and seat yourself - don't be shy! Cristal was our server, and she was very friendly and talkative. We had some questions about the breakfast menu (which is quite extensive, by the way), and she was happy to answer them. Coffee and tea were in front of us very quickly after arriving, and our food only a few minutes later! Wow! The food was great, and our time spent here was very enjoyable. After our meal, we proceeded to the front and paid our bill - no fancy pay-at-the-table devices here! Very quaint, very charming - will be back!

Not romantic, nor are there any nice views, except for the person across the table. Foods OK, not terribly expensive for a beach joint.

Not many people out n about so I couldn't really get a vibe for what the place would be like when it gets busy. But it was a great spot for breakfast and we sat on the rooftop area inside so it was covered from the rain, but I can't wait to go back someday for the outside ocean front deck, even closer to the water. I ordered the Irish Benedicte with hash that is homemade on premise with slow roasted corned beef. Very tasty. The side of Home fries were thinly sliced and I had gravy added to that so it was tasty too. Our server was excellent, Trevor was a very nice guy and he recommended we come back for the all you can eat ribs. I wish I was staying in town longer and I would. I'll make a point to come back next visit.

Will we go back? Definitely no. Too many other places to try.

Second visit to Next Door Beach Bistro and once again -- phenomenal…read more Last night I ordered the Beef Bourguignon with cream potatoes, and it was everything this classic French dish should be. The beef was incredibly tender, slow-braised in a rich red wine reduction with pearl onions and mushrooms. The cream potatoes underneath were smooth, buttery, and perfect for soaking up that sauce. Every bite was delicious. We started with the Filet Carpaccio, thinly sliced and topped with shaved parmesan, capers, arugula, and crostini. Fresh, light, and beautifully plated. The bar program deserves its own mention. You can order a vodka soda anywhere, but here they elevate every drink with presentation and detail. Instead of a simple lime wedge, I watched drinks come out with full lime rounds resting on the rim. My Chocolate Martini dessert drink was practically artwork -- topped with a dehydrated orange slice, chocolate shavings, orange zest, and crossed chocolate-dipped sticks. It looked incredible and tasted even better. Atmosphere is another win here. Guests ranged from cocktail dresses to casual beachside attire and somehow it all fit perfectly. That balance is hard to achieve, but they've nailed it. We sat on the patio (about 67°) and they had the panels down, which kept it comfortable while still letting you enjoy the beachside atmosphere. Even the hallway to the restrooms was lined with art -- thoughtful details everywhere. Some restaurants look great but don't deliver on flavor. Others taste great but lack atmosphere. This place does both exceptionally well. Dinner for two with drinks came to $131 before tip, which felt very fair for the quality of food, cocktails, and overall experience. Looking forward to visit number three.

I had a lavender iced latte which was pretty good! I was hoping to try the blueberry pancakes one but they were out of the flavors to make it, and also out of the toasted marshmallow flavor so I couldn't try the toasted root beer. So a little sad over that, but the lavender latte was still an absolute win. Plus it was out to me super fast! I also tried a homemade pop tart. That was also really good. I was expecting preserves or similar for the filling though and it wasn't. It was like a strawberry cream cheese filling. Which was good! Just doesn't scream "poptart" to me. The service here is absolutely top tier tho, with no "buts". It's definitely a hometown mom and pop type place and really seems like they care about their community and the employees care about being there. I'll definitely be back. I ordered the grilled chicken and asparagus, which showcased the kitchen's skill. The grilled chicken was a mix of perfection and slight disappointment; one breast was cooked flawlessly, while the thinner piece was a bit dry, ultimately leading me to leave some behind. On the positive side, the asparagus was impeccable--tender yet crisp, a true highlight of the dish. To elevate my meal, I opted for the butter garlic sauce, which was nothing short of exceptional. Its rich flavor was a delightful addition, enhancing the overall dining experience. However, I found the extra charge of $3.00 for a portion that barely covered one chicken breast and two asparagus spears a bit disappointing. The sauce was so delectable that I ended up purchasing an additional container to take home for the asparagus I had left. **Beverages and Ambiance** The Beachy Sangria was another standout, offering a refreshing complement to my meal. It was perfectly balanced and added a delightful touch to our dining experience. The ambiance at Barnhill's is equally noteworthy. Dining outdoors provided us with stunning views of the waves breaking on the shore, making the meal feel even more special. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, enhancing our overall enjoyment. As for the service, it was good and our waitress was friendly. While there were a couple of minor issues, particularly with the chicken and the portion size of the sauce, the overall experience was delightful enough to warrant a return visit. The combination of scrumptious food, refreshing drinks, and a breathtaking view leads me to rate Barnhill's a solid 4 stars. I genuinely look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu.
