I really want to like this place. But the Rangoon's are way too overly sweet. They're an appetizer, not a dessert. And their use of 5 spice is overboard. My egg rolls shouldn't taste like cinnamon. Nor should my egg foo young. The fried rice needs to be more brown. Not yellow, not white. The new owners are adorable & very sweet, but they really need to put out better tasting food. That overuse of cinnamon is just disgusting. And the new Asian restaurant that opened up is ridiculously expensive, so we get jerked every which way in this town. read more

This place used to be great, but they recently changed owners, and the food quality has dropped significantly -- even though the menu remains the same. We ordered the D10, D17, scallion pancakes, and beef teriyaki. Here's how it went: Rice: The fried rice was disappointing -- pale, bland, and under-fried with lots of chunks of plain white rice. Sesame Chicken: Paler than before, less coating before frying, though the sauce flavor was still fairly close to the original. Egg Roll: Had a strange funk to it; I took one bite and couldn't finish it. Chicken Teriyaki: Decent, but not as caramelized and flavorful as it used to be. Beef Teriyaki: Dry and tough. Crab Rangoon: Overly sweet with little other flavor. Scallion Pancakes: About the same as before, but they forgot the dipping sauce. Really sad to see this decline -- it used to be one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. Hopefully, the new owners are just going through growing pains and things will improve. For now, though, I'll be staying away for a while. read more

I grew up here so I was excited to get some nostalgic Chinese food and unfortunately they have new owners who don't care about quality and or just don't have the ability to taste. Nobody out of the group of 5 was satisfied and we ended up ordering pizzas. Wildly disappointing. read more

General Gaus Chicken; Best I have ever had ! I frequent this place about once every few weeks for a quick lunch and have not been dissapointed with the food . Honestly I can't comment on much of the menu because I always order the same thing because it's so good, General Gau's chicken lunch special. It comes with a generous serving of pork fried rice and your choice of side. I get the fried shrimp side . The chicken is cooked perfectly, not all dried out as I find at other places and comes with lots of sauce. The place is really a take out restaurant with tables, so don't be expecting any fancy service. You order at the counter and they will bring food to your table , but it will be in a styrofoam container. You get your own plastic utensils at the counter. Oh yeah, and they serve free tea at the counter, that's pretty good too. I have never waited longer than 5 min for my meal. I don't think the girl at the counter sees many tips. I usually leave her a dollar or two and she looks stunned. Prices are very reasonable. Anyway I think the place is worth a try, and give the girl at the counter at least a modest tip, in this economy I like to recommend generosity with your servers. read more

The only reason this place is getting 2 stars is because the staff was friendly. We ordered crab rangoons, chicken fingers, and General Tso's chicken. The chicken fingers had no flavor, the crab rangoons barely had any crab in them let alone cream cheese (it was pretty much just all fried shell), and the Tso's chicken was crunchy and bland. It's worth it to note that they do have a "white rice plate" section with Tso's but if you order the "Chef's Special" chicken it comes with no friend rice. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. To add insult to injury the bill was a little over $30 for these three items. Never again. Well, unless I'm drunk than once again with horrible regret later. read more

I've lived in Winchendon for about 17 years. I became a Lucky Dragon fan long before this place changed hands. Now with Lucky Dragon closed, I thought I'd try this place. It's Ok, I only tried a few things. It is like fast food Chinese, I knew that as soon as I walked in and saw the pictures on the wall. Prices are a bit high, portions are ample. My pet peeve...pork fried rice was better than some, but not nearly as good as Lucky Dragon was. I would go back. read more

The last time I went there, I ordered chicken wings, brought them home and was disgusted. They had no flavor (other than chicken.) They were no marinated at all, just plain old chicken wings dipped in the deep-fryer. I haven't been there in over a year, but on my way by today, decided to give them another chance. I ordered a "tidbit platter" of chicken wings, BBQ boneless spare ribs, and an egg roll. The egg roll was way overcooked and dry as a bone (almost as hard too.) The spare ribs were dripping in overly sweet red "BBQ" sauce. The chicken wings were just as I feared; bland. There should be a sign at the door that reads "pass at your own risk." read more

The absolute worst food I have ever paid for. The lo mein was completely drenched in soy sauce that we couldn't eat it because of the amount of salt. I went up to the counter and after spending over $75.00 in food asked if we could either return it (still completely full only two bites taken) or if we could exchange it for something of lesser value on the menu. We were told no that we were stuck with the $12.00 lo mein we threw right in their trash! My 6 year old then attempted to ask for 2 extra duck sauces and she told him that would be $1.00. After knowing we just had to throw away the lo mein she charged us .50 for each duck sauce! The only thing good was their crab rangoon and it only seemed good because the rest of their food was so poorly made and tasteless. We refuse to use this establishment again I'm not sure what keeps them in business. Lucky Dragon is just a couple miles up the road and they have our service from now on. Upon reading the reviews I also noticed that the two people who gave it a great review were the very two same people working at the counter when we had dinner here, gee go figure. read more

This business has grown nicely in our little town. It is operated by very hard working people who will do all in their power to accommodate their customers. I have used it basically for take-out as the seating area is small and doesn't feel warm and cozy for dinner. The restaurant would benefit from creating a separate dining area with comfortable tables and away from the take out area. Having a liquor license would also be good. Terrible service! They refused to send us an order that THEY messed up on. They didn't write down our order and when we called to ask for it to be sent back they HUNG UP on us THREE TIMES! We asked for them to be accommodating and perhaps just not charge us for the extra delivery (since it was their error), but refused due to it being a "busy night". If it's a busy night, wouldn't you not mind being kind and lower the price since you are going to make up for that loss anyways? Time to find a new place to order from where they actually have good customer service and care about fixing a mistake THEY CREATED! NEVER ORDERING HERE AGAIN! read more
