Great place for a solid, good tasting breakfast. Large, comfortable and clean dining room. Service was amazing. From the efficient hostess who seated the many people who were waiting to be seated, to the super bussers who cleaned and turned tables like champs, we were seated and ordering quickly. Our waitresses was friendly, professional and knowledgeable . Overall, the food tasted fresh and homemade. Nothing seemed like out of the can. My friend absolutely loved the bacon/avacado Benedict. The egg was poached, the avocados were perfectly ripe and mixed with the bacon was absolutely delicious. The American fries were just ok but didn't stand out. The biscuits and gravy were decent but definitely needed more sausage. My sister had three bites before she could even taste a piece of sausage. The traditional eggs Benedict was ok. The hollandaise sauce and the cook of the egg is what makes a Benedict for me. This hollandaise sauce was good I could tell it was homemade. The egg was overcooked. Food was what anyone would expect from the restaurant and clientele. Not so good... The one waitress was very nice and accommodating. She was training a new waitress who needed a lot of work to say the least. The food was below average. Typical "large menu" place with gelatinous soups and non homemade flavors. I didn't want to eat there for this reason but we met a friend there because it's "reasonable". I would recommend to go anywhere else, that's the reasonable thing to do. read more

Friendship House was a good place to eat with three of our grandsons with their significant others this summer. Recently, we ate there with one of our married grandsons, his wife & baby. I was not impressed with this place at all. I ordered the steak and eggs. I asked for steak well done, scrambled eggs, fries, and toast. The steak was not well done, the eggs tasted like they weren't fully cooked, I got potatoes instead of fries which were awful, and the toast didn't taste great either. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed but the food sure has. We had the lasagna and the spaghetti. Both were awful. The spaghetti had very little sauce. The lasagna was a lot of meat very few noodles, sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. The staff was super nice but the food is what we pay for. Friendship House continues to be one of my favorite family restaurants in Eagle River. The reason I have downgraded it is due to the fact that none of the menu items are gourmet and it is all items that we have seen before. I want to draw your attention to the stuffed pork chop they have on Saturdays. As good as the other menu items are, this is my favorite. It is a huge tender portion stuffed with a Thanksgiving type stuffing slathered in a delicious homemade gravy. My apologies for the fact that the substitution option I mentioned in my previous review is incorrect. This is a place that I've gone to more times than I can count. The waitresses and waiters know what to bring to the table as my drink (along with whom ever I come along with.) And, when I order my food they know how you like your food, they (as in waitresses and waiters) are friendly and talkative. Food is good. It's what's to be expected as a diner. I find it as to be expected average, not a 5 star restaurant, but being in a small town it is the place I'd rather go to than any other place in town! And, their soup is always delicious. Stopped here for lunch after visiting the children's museum. I love the décor. It kind of reminds me of a Country Kitchen. I love the fabric on the booths - very Northwoods-y with bears, moose and wolves on it. The menu is huge with everything from sandwiches to burgers to comfort food dinners. I got a steak burger with barbeque sauce. The burger needed to be seasoned a lot more; it was pretty bland. The portion size was very generous. Our son got the chicken strips with some fruit. Excellent cantaloupe - really sweet. My husband got the grilled ham and cheese with a salad and said it was very good. The service was pretty good. This place is poppin. You may have to wait but they have tables to accommodate big groups. You should get a skillet they're so good. It's not the most sanitary / cute place but i mean you take what you can get. The service people are weird idk how to describe. It's a pretty big interior. Ok I've had a lot of skillets in my day and this place takes the cake! Firstly we were greeted and seated promptly, it was a HOT day and we were so comfy in their AC. Our skillets were SO YUMMY...mine had poached eggs, onions (cooked to perfection, nothing worse than an onslaught of raw onion to ruin a skillet), mushroom, and sausage with crisp hashbrowns beneath. Served with pancake (one large)-didn't love this...it was kind of dry and not too fluffy but my boyfriend loved his so that's fine. I have worked here and quit due to the unsanitary conditions. The owner Dash and his family would sit in the kitchen having a meeting while smoking when it was already a law that you couldn't smoke within 25 feet of an entrance. Couldn't tell you how many times I came in at 4:00 and threw moldy tomatoes out for the salads and was told not to let Dash see me doing it. Bacon was made in the morning and left sitting on the side of the grill until nighttime. Food was not properly covered in the cooler and was never dated with the time. I witnessed raw uncovered chicken sitting on a rack above uncovered lettuce and other vegetables. Food is to be kept on racks 6 inches above the floor but a lot of the food was sitting on the floor of the cooler. In my time there I was the only one who was constantly changing the water and grabbing fresh towels to wipe the counters and tables off. One of the waitresses (their favorite) would bring her gallons of milk in from food stamps and sell it to them. I believe I was the only non-smoker and not once did I see a waitress come in from her numerous smoking breaks wash her hands. Everything in the back was filthy. And let's not even go there with the Hispanic workers who did not punch in like the rest of us. Kind of suspicious. I myself call it Hell's Kitchen. read more

Corned beef hash appeared to have come straight out of the can, coffee was church-basement weak, my friend's biscuits and gravy had a bizarre white sauce that was in no way gravy. Server had no idea what kind of hot tea they have on hand - the back-and-forth was worse than your most pretentious beer snob friend at a new gastropub.
