After our tour at the Oasis, she knew this was where she wanted to be and we agreed. We loved the size of her apartment, that it had a washer and dryer, the food and the dining room, the activities(she has played bingo and pokeno for years) and loves Nicole, the social director and for how clean and pretty the landscaping and common areas are. Mom loved the servers in the dining room, the maintenance workers, who did everything from changing light bulbs and filters to air conditioning problems or whatever timely. A huge plus for us was that The Oasis at Mesa Palms is independently owned vs corporate. Jeremy, the owner, has been a pleasure to work with and is very patience and has a great attitude. Mom was at The Oasis all during covid and I was very impressed with the procedures that had in place to take care of all the residents there. Mom always felt proud of her "home" whenever any of her family and friends would come and visit her. Her grandchilden loved to have lunch or dinner with her there because of the desserts and it seemed a little fancy. When comparing pricing, the Oasis was very fair. My mom is now 92 and her health has made us make the decision to have to end her time at The Oasis, but what a great almost 8 years it has been Thanks again to everyone for taking such great care of her and for all the joy she had there. Travel club Same. There are multiple others. Some activities on the calendar are a mystery. What is a knowledge nest education class?? At least offer a brief explanation of what a knowledge nest education class offers. Activities offered darts in the bistro. The darts had no points. Magnets on them were weak. They fell off the target. We are not children. Please don't offer us sports, games for a child. Someone needs to review activity interest as evidenced by sign up and participation. It looks like there is plenty to do but that is misleading.

Many times I was left lying in bed in my urine soaked bedding for an hour or more after ringing the call button. Ended up with bed sores due to this. Nights were the worse, under the cover of darkness terrible things happen. Food was horrible, lots of breaded processed foods, limited vegetables and fruit, eggs were more on the imitation side and meatballs had bone pieces in them. Only decent food was oatmeal and coffee. This place needs to be shut down and soon. State needs to do surprise inspection at night. Day staff for most part was decent.

However, the staff and administrators helped us all get through in the best possible way. He had excellent care from the staff. They made sure they did everything possible to make him comfortable. They were kind, compassionate, caring, patient and competent. His room and private bath were large, private with plenty of light and always clean. Meals were good and special diet needs were accommodated.The administrators were knowledgeable and flexible. Hawthorn felt like a home not an institution. If you are in need of memory care for a loved one Hawthorn is a place to visit and consider seriously.
