We would give ZERO stars if possible…read more Horrible - The actual home in Gilbert, AZ, and the local staff were great. Gloria, the main attendant, was fantastic. She is very caring and loving and helped mom through her last couple of months. She slept by mom's bedside while mom had "sundowners" and made sure mom was safe and comfortable day and night. The problem came with the owner of the home, Raj. He was not easy to deal with at all. Mom moved in on May 18, 2024, and died soon after on July 19, 2024, almost 2 months to the day. Mom was on a month-to-month contract with Christina's Assisted Living, meaning her monthly fee needed to be deposited into their account, or a check written, on or before the 18th of each month. We had no issues with Christina's until her July payment. Her July 18, 2024, payment was submitted by check (into their onsite drop box) on Monday, July 15, 2024, but apparently it was not picked up by the staff. We received a call at 9:30am on July 19, 2024, that Mom had died about 1/2 hour earlier. Her death was literally one day after her July fee was contractually due. The phone call received was from the Office Manager and she said, "our condolences to you on you mom's passing, did you submit payment for July yet?" When we told the Manager the check was in the drop box, she immediately drove over and picked up the check. After going quickly to be with mom, meeting with the Hospice Nurse and securing a funeral home to pick her up, we texted Raj and asked him not to deposit the check so we could work out a prorated rate since mom had only stayed one day in July. In the same text, we asked if he would accept payment for one week. His immediate text reply was "no, as per our contract, we rent the room on a monthly basis, whether the resident stays for a day or for the whole month, it takes 3 to 6 weeks for us to rent that room again, so any proration or refund is not possible." Proration was completely possible. Proration was just not acceptable to Raj. He is all about money, he is not in it for our loved one. His claimant of needing to market the room was a farce as she was sharing the master bedroom with another resident and there was nothing to clean, market, move, repair or paint. Receiving a response of "no, you signed a contract" was hurtful, uncompassionate, and really showed us the lack of character Raj has. We are EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED with Raj and his lack of willingness to work with us on proration and his blatant money-hungry grab. He does not appear to be looking out for our loved one's best interest, he is just in it for the money. Turnover is high in Assisted Living homes, and he appears to just want to go after your loved ones' money. He welcomes the sicker the better individuals so he can double dip on monthly fees as they pass through the home quickly. We asked for Raj's assistance on the $3200 fee because we needed the money to take mom back to Indiana where she wanted to be laid to rest. Mom didn't have much and her Social Security income was extremely limited. She had no estate, no savings and nothing to sell to be able to cover the cost of the trip back home. The $3200 that Raj took from her for one day of "dying" there would have been enough to take her to Indiana where she wanted to be with her family. We recommend you DON'T sign a contract with Christina's Assisted Living (they have 2 homes, the one in Gilbert is where mom was). Raj is just in the death business. He doesn't care about your loved ones. He certainly didn't care about ours. Christina's Assisted Living Home was a Hospice of the Valley recommendation, and we will be sharing our experience with them as well, so they don't recommend his home(s) either. End of life is hard on everyone and to have been treated so callously by Raj during this extreme time of grief, was inhuman and one of the worst experiences of our lives. Christina's Assisted Living/Gilbert has zero stars from us.

My brother didn't want to be near her so he would stay in his room in bed. They were constantly asking to put him in hospice, he wouldn't qualify for hospice. The owner was going to kick my brother out because he was falling out of bed. The owner did change his mind about kicking him out, most likley because that was not a reason to kick him out. They don't care about your loved one here only about getting your money and if you do exactly what the caregiver says. Don't send your loved one here.

They have lots of fun activities and delicious food. During the holidays, they have wonderful family meals and celebrations. Also, I feel like I can go to the staff with questions. The other residents are so much fun to be around. They love to play games! I feel like it is one big family. Once a week they take the residents on a field trip. These field trip are especially important to my father. He loves getting out. A big thanks to the activity gals, med techs, aids, housekeeping, chefs, maintenance and the staff.

My grandpa absolutely loved their food, said it was the best he'd ever had (don't tell grandma!). Sunrise is always clean and smells clean and like a home, not like some care centers. Everyone is always very friendly and made me, as a family member, feel at home there. The activities are great and there is always something for someone to do there. My grandpa loved that they take them on outings. Rooms were spacious and well maintained. Lots of natural light from the big windows. A great porch out front for the residents to sit at. I checked out many assisted living places before deciding on Sunrise and I am so glad I did. My grandpa lived out the rest of his life at Sunrise and he always felt like he was treated extra special (although I think they treat everyone that way! But, hey, if your loved one feels special, then that is what they are going for!). I would highly recommend Sunrise of Gilbert (they also have a memory care level and independent living, besides the assisted living my grandpa lived in).

I'm a caregiver, POA and ex-wife for a vet and ex-husband who has a brain disease. They should never have taken him. Unfortunately, for them, I've also been a CG for 10 years and multiple years in the medical field. Also, my mother was a nurse in a nursing home for 30 years in Chgo where I grew up, so I knew what should be done. Did anyone care? NO! the person n charge of the caregivers, and I say that loosely, had no control over, no respect from them, had no idea how to organize caregivers for the events they had where caregivers were needed. The caregivers didn't know how to make a bed, pick up anything that was on the floor, show any signs of knowledge in dressing him using the affected limb first, show any initiative in trying to make him more comfortable. They put him in bed to have a BM because they had to get to another resident to shower him or her. They placed him on his side where he can't hold himself in that position so he fell back. They forgot to put his aprons on him for meals so he returned with food on his clothes and on the wheelchair which I cleaned. He had food on his shoes. They dressed him in the day before clothes. Did I mention he only could use his right arm and hands. They had to life him using a Sit and Stand which he used in Il at another Sunrise facility which was just as bad. His pillow was missing for a week. I found it on the floor at the head of the bed. How can yu miss a pillow when you're making the bed. Being incontinent, he needed pads on the mattress so it didn't get ruined like the previous mattress in IL. The CG's didn't put the pads that I supplied leaving the mattress exposed to accidents. I had to check the bed every other day when I was there to make sure the pads were on the bed. I made 8 trips to the head caregiver asking her to retrain the CG's. She explained to me that they wouldn't listen to her and she didn't know what to do with them. I suggested she fire them. Also, at Sunrise the Caregivers also work in the kitchen serving the residents. I talked about the importance of hand washing before they leave the residents' rooms. She replied they can wash their hands where they want to. Would you eat food from a waiter that came from a residents room doing whatever, to passing out the food? It gets worse. The two events that they had which included having residents get in line outside didn't work out for wheelchair and walker residents. The caregivers were tod to help the memory care residents. There was no one to assist the assisted living residents so I helped my patient and 2 others to at least have some ice cream. The other event, even the chef didn't know he was suppose to have food ready inside. A caregiver, Tim was called in to help. He said where's Lea (the head person) I thought what good is she, she cant even get the caregivers to do their jobs. She meandered into the dining room and had no idea what to do with a dining room full of residents wanting to eat dinner. Outside, people were eating pulled pork, potato salad, etc while we sat inside wondering if anyone was going to eat. The chef was mad no one advised him to have inside food. I told her in a meeting I had that administration saw these two events as a success, I saw them as disasters. Don't you guys meet months before to plan how to feed everyone. She said she didn't know so many people would come. He was there from Nov. 3, 2025 to May 29, 2026 and now he's in a really good Nursing Home in Mesa, Az. He's a private pay resident so Sunrise cos almost 12,000 which includes the 724.00 a month they charge you to deliver the meds to the rooms from a Tech not a nurse. The Sunrise in IL did not charge for med delivery. Ask questions, educate yourselves on what the job of a caregiver is. They have such little training. At least in a Nursing Home you have CNA's and nurses. Don't be afraid to question care. I have photos but they're on my phone not on the computer, otherwise I'd post them. PS always take pictures of anything that's not right.

It is such a beautiful facility, with so many wonderful residents. It truly has a "big happy family" feel to it. Everyone is so friendly and kind to one another. Within a relatively short period of time, we watched her decline much more rapidly than we expected. While we understand that elderly residents can deteriorate quickly, we were left with many unanswered questions about her care and communication during that time. One of our biggest concerns was the lack of communication. We did not feel that our concerns were addressed while she was living there, and after her passing, no one reached out to our family to express condolences or discuss what had happened. The first time anyone contacted us was only after this review was posted. We have concerns about the overall quality of care our aunt received, including how changes in her condition were communicated to us. Although the facility has stated that medications were administered according to physician orders, we continue to have questions about her care and the rapid decline we witnessed. Every family's experience is different, but ours left us feeling unheard, unsupported, and heartbroken. We hope the facility takes family concerns seriously and improves communication with loved ones during such difficult times.

My standards are pretty high, but if/when the time comes, I can only hope that I am able to utilize a facility as nice as Canyon Creek for me and/or my loved ones.

We were set up to move my Mom into Pennington Gardens this Monday, but was suddenly informed last…read morenight that my Mom can no longer move into the facility, ever, based on incomplete data from their nurse. Over the past month we have searched for a facility to take care of my Mom due to a continued decline in memory and reached out to their director Susan and was able to secure a room in their "memory care" wing of the facility. During the process, their nurse met with my Mom and had contacted her PCP for information and up until yesterday they became concerned that my Mom was on a antibiotic for a medical condition that she no longer has (tested negative early April). When I asked what my Mom's PCP told them I was informed they had left a message an they did not respond. In literal a few hours we went from moving in on April 6 to "sorry, we can never take your Mom, but can help you find a place". Please note that we have already given the notice at my Mom''s current facility. The worse part is that I never spoke with the nurse. All of my Mom's health concerns and denial came their director on site contacting me. The question becomes: do you want your loved one in a place where their director and nurse can make decisions like this in a vacuum and apply them to your already stressful situation.
