Placed an online order and I have to say the process was quick. Ordered some crab cakes, a popcorn shrimp kids meal and a crawfish etouffee combo. To start off the staff was very friendly and packed everything nicely for me, with all the necessary sauces. The crab cakes were delicious, crispy on the outside and very well seasoned. This review is on Frilly's lunch special. I stopped by Frilly's one Friday on my way back from the casino with a couple of friends. Their family is from Louisiana and they wanted Cajun food so we decided to try Frilly's since they had good yelp reviews. We arrived around 2:40 and decided to try the lunch special. I got the lunch crawfish combo. The price of $12.99 was very affordable. We ordered and were quickly seated. The service overall was good. We got our own water and got our food pretty quickly. The ambiance is casual sports family feel. I was excited with the quantity of food I got for the price. I got a large quantity of fried crawfish, crawfish étouffée, and dirty rice. The fried crawfish was tasty. The dirty rice was ok. I've definitely had better dirty rice with more flavor and more of a gravy with it. I also thought the étouffée was tasty but added a little hot sauce. Overall I liked Frilly's and would definitely return for the lunch special. read more

Awesome service! We had a large party and our waiter and the manager were both very attentive. We asked the manager to make an accommodation on a menu item and he offered new off menu item that two people ended up ordering. Appetizers and entrees were large serving sizes. You would think it was be really good after having about 7 girls at the booth standing around. Took for ever to order our food and even get. Came here as a native creole after a recent trip to New Orleans craving the same taste and really am leaning more towards a 3 star but will show grace. The catfish was really salty to me which was a first but the jalapeño poppers were great! Not much seafood filling and I saw a lot of people say they're too spicy but I like spice! The margarita was disappointing as well as it was just on the rocks mix you can purchase from the store put over ice and for the price it was an over reach. Although I do still recommend Frilly's Denton, today was a bit disappointing. I always order to go and my usual favorite is the side order of red beans and rice. It typically includes a reasonable amount of sliced sausages. Today, not even exaggerating, I had literally two small slices of sausage. Not cool. The cornbread as usual was on point. First time trying the fried zucchini. Edible but I would not order again. It was more like breaded broiled zucchini because it was not at all crispy. Perhaps ironically named Frilly's, this place doesn't need all the pageantry of competitors like Razzoo's to establish itself as a formidable contender in the Cajun food arena. Just an unpretentious, rustic environment and a simple menu will do. Here the food speaks for itself. At lunch time you grab your own menu, order and pay at the counter, then seat yourself. We started with appetizers of Swamp fries and calamari. The Swamp fries were delicious and satisfying, practically a meal on their own. Ranch is served on the side but I didn't think they needed it. The calamari was equally as tasty with a golden, extra crispy coating that wasn't greasy despite being fried. My Cajun catfish lunch combo was substantial enough to not feel like a lunch portion. The rich etouffee was chock full of crawfish and so scrumptious. I always prefer extra heat, so I added some hot sauce to the white rice using one of sauces from their collection. My other family members, who had po boys and pasta, concurred that the food was excellent. In the end we were all members of the clean plate club! The only drawback to this stellar meal was the drink situation. The server warned us that their margaritas were wine based and contained no tequila, but I figured they might still be good. I was quickly disabused of this notion after the first sip when was hit with an odd, unpleasant taste. Disinfectant came to mind. My husband tried to order a Shiner but they had run out. In fact they were out of almost all of the draft beers on the menu. Evidently drinks are not their focus. Nevertheless, my family and I are looking forward to returning for more fantastic Cajun food. We live in Denton county and have eaten at Frilly's a couple of times a year. We know what they serve and the food is decent. Tonight, I feel like they ripped us off. They up charged us for a simple change in a meal. I asked for fried oysters with the Seafood Platter of two choices. I got 3 oysters that cost me $4 more added to the regular price. Gouging customers over a small change is never a great idea. Our server was fantastic and the food was good... the economy already sucks, but up charging and gouging someone for 3 oysters? Nope. I usually think of toasty French bread when I think po boy sandwich. Sadly, my French fries were cold! Others dining with us ordered the fried catfish with French fries and the crawfish etoufee. I think everyone ate their meal but no one really raved about it. Our server was very nice and friendly. This was perfect in theory not in practice. Then our sever was possibly overwhelmed or new or both. He was very nice but after being seated for 15 minutes he had still not taken our drink order. I had the ask the host to ask the server to please see us. About 5 minutes later he arrived to take our drink order. This was a spur of the moment "let's find a close by seafood place to eat at" kinda visit. I located Frilly's through Google and yelp searches and saw they had pretty good reviews so we gave them a try. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. They had a gentleman playing live music who was doing an absolutely wonderful job. He was putting his own charismatic twist on well known songs, wasn't so loud you couldn't talk to people at your own table, honestly the best kinda live music. We ordered some hishpuppies, fried pickles, and gator bites to start. Great appetizers to get the meal going. Everything was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Blackened salmon with the st. Andrew's sauce. My lord, it was mouth watering. The salmon was cooked beautifully, the sauce perfectly complemented the blacked seasoning. I really can't describe just how delicious this dish was.
