First time visiting and we really enjoyed it! The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and clearly very popular. There's a great variety on the menu, which made it hard to choose. We ordered the lobster chowder and the crab leg pot, and both were absolutely delicious. Even though the place was busy, our food came out pretty quickly, which was impressive. After finishing, we realized our crab pot didn't include the usual corn and potatoes, which was a bit of a bummer. Still, everything tasted great overall. Chargrilled oysters are always a must for us if they're on the menu. These were good, rated against Acme Oyster in NOLA. Clam chowder was okay. I recently went to Shuck Me as this has always been a place I wanted to try out since I arrived. I got the red snapper meal and it was ok at best, the fish was cooked well just not seasoned well. Beans and rice on the side didn't taste very Cajun like the menu suggested. The lady at the front was helpful the only thing is I didn't get what I originally ordered. I didn't complain as I didn't really notice until after I started eating. The only frustrating part was I asked twice after I ordered to confirm and she said yes both times. I went around dinner time on a Friday evening and it wasn't very busy. The vibes inside give you a boat/seafood theme which was inviting. I likely won't suggest this as my first option for seafood in Denton but there aren't many other places I would suggest for that here. Wow, Denton really needed this place. Great rustic seafood restaurant atmosphere with self-serve beans, ketchup and cocktail sauce bar, and fun decor. Neat little bar tucked into the corner with all the right boozey delights and brews on tap. Now, let's get serious--the wife had the Lobster Bisque. I had the catfish and fried shrimp platter. Both hit the spot. Fish was well cooked and the shrimp were perfect. Those self serve pintos were on point as well. Our little town of Denton has struggled through ups and downs in the seafood restaurant fare arena, but this one has landed a huge winner! I only gave it four stars for one reason--there no table service. It's an order at the counter and come get it when it's ready. That's the only reason I couldn't hit 5 stars. We wanted something lighter for lunch than our usual brunch fare. So, we popped in right at 11am - the bartender was MIA until 12p but B made a darn good dirty martini to kick us off when our starters hit the table. My hubby got a combo basked with fried shrimp and oysters. We both ordered their delicious hush puppies. I asked for my crab to be spicy, with visions of how they make their crawfish in my head. A side of garlic butter. The fries and puppies instead of corn and taters. When it arrived for pick up at the counter, the cashier asked if it was ok and as I looked at the 4 clusters of crab, coated with red pepper and butter I said yes! I hurried back to my table, in the bar area, passed my hubby's basket to him, took off my ring and got ready to get up to my elbows in butter. I hunched over my platter, trying to be careful not to sling butter anywhere or on my clothes. Yes, if you wonder, it was worth the price. I did share a few bites with my hubby but for the most part, got very full on crab, spice and butter. I did not need the side of garlic butter at all. I did go through many paper towels, dumped my shells twice and got butter all over the glasses we used. Don't sleep on the whole fried snapper - ask for extra spicy butter with that dish too. The puppies are great. The fries stay crunchy even when they inevitably cool off. You can pretty much substitute any side and they do have some healthy things on the menu. Shrimp and catfish have a very "grainy" breading, like corn meal on the outside. Not my preference, don't like this gritty texture. Our first time here and it was great! We loved the atmosphere and fun decor. They had live music which we loved. The food was amazing. I had heard good things but was pleasantly surprised at how well everything was prepared. They have a lot of variety on the menu. Everything from seafood to burgers to Mexican food. I had the catfish with fries and hush puppies. Easily the best catfish I've had in recent memory. The fries were crispy and so tasty. But the hush puppies...wow! They were fried perfectly and plain, not too seasoned like some. My husband had the mahi-mahi tacos that came with Spanish rice and charro beans. The fish tacos came with the toppings on the side so you can dress them yourself. The slaw was perfect and simple, cabbage and carrots with a light sauce, the rice had jalapeno and corn, so delicious! Charro beans were delicious as well. The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and hit all the right notes for me. Unfortunately, my girlfriend isn't as fond of seafood, so she opted for the Alfredo pasta instead. That's where things fell short. The pasta arrived cold, bland, and lacking any real flavor. It not only affected her experience but brought down the overall vibe of the meal, as it's hard to enjoy your own dish when your dining partner isn't enjoying theirs. I'd love to see an improvement in the timing or seasoning of your vegetarian and non-seafood options, because while I'll keep coming back for the seafood, I want my girlfriend to have a great time here too. Wow just wow. I have been wanting to try this place when I am in Denton. This place is huge as well as outdoor patio. We were greeted right away and received very good service. Okay so on to food and I'm so sorry no pics but trust me it's good. Ordered: shrimp Diablo appetizer and it was delicious ( jalapeño stuffed with shrimp and cream cheese then wrapped in bacon and fried ). I had grill catfish poor boy dressed. Awesome and the bread..... French fries appeared battered, delicious. My dad had the 2 piece fried catfish and was allowed to sub beans for fries. Also ordered fried okra.
