Really fun stop overall! The National Game Museum was such a cool experience -- tons to see, tons to geek out over. We were on a major time crunch, so I couldn't dive in as much as I wanted, but even a quick visit still felt worth it. Id lve to love to give this place a good review. Ive tried to bring my grandkids several times last summer but it was Closed every time. And it wasn't a day they were 'closed'. They were closed for daycare centers to attend. Twice that I drove 45 minutes to bring my grand kids. So I took the day off work and we drove up today! When I got there it was only open to 'members'! And to add I salt to the wound the gentleman working the desk was very rude! Telling me they are closed open Tuesday four members only! Nowhere on their website Does it say that? I don't want to become a member considering I live 45 minutes away and won't come regularly! Very upset and very upset kids! read more

We attended the Musical "She Loves Me" and it was incredible. The actors and the live band made it feel like we were watching a show on Broadway. This play was full of physical acting and they performed it perfectly. The scenes were directed so professionally that we decided to buy 2025 season tickets. The Black Box Theatre is located inside the Discovery Center, so parking is very easy and plentiful, and you have easy access off the Dallas Tollway. We did just buy tickets for Noises Off in November. Beautiful area to visit. read more

Went to the improv and saw Pippen here recently. Affordable shows and small venue but it feels very cozy and local.

Our son wanted to visit here and I think his mother and I enjoyed it equally as much because of all the earlier video games we grew up with were there. read more

Always a cool place to go for over 10 years! This place survives even the toughest of times and finds ways to reinvent itself. It has literally never disappointed whether bringing my child who is academically gifted or my younger who has autism. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The activities are interesting and fun. For years we visited Theater Three on Saturday Afternoons. We moved to Sherman, TX, where the drive was now prohibitive. But on this rare Saturday, we drove to the Black Box Theater located inside The Frisco Discovery Center to see a play titled "Over the River and Through the Woods." A young, single Italian American in New Jersey paid a visit to his grandparents to announce that he was moving to Seattle for a job promotion. Both Fraternal and Maternal grandparents were at Sunday dinner, and the dialogue proceeded along the lines of "Do I want to be like them and never leave New Jersey?" The theater was like most, a little cool in temperature but nicely arranged. Approximately 35 seats on three sides of the main stage, the capacity is 143, making for a lovely experience. Refreshments at intermission were sparse and consisted of a soda machine with a sign that said it was working. The staff came around with blankets for those who were cold. Overall, the theater is one part of several venues offered in the Discovery Center. We did not visit any of the others. The play costs $20.00 per person, but they sold a membership for another $40.00 for the family. All personnel was kind, helpful, and willing to encourage us to return. read more

Fun atmosphere for the kids, there is also other museums around that is more for teens so the whole family can enjoy something. Staff was helpful and they put on great shows for the kids. read more

Frisco Discovery Center - Museums Near Me - Frisco, Texas

We came up here to go to the National Video Game Museum. When deciding to go we didn't realize that it was located in this discovery center where there are at least 4 things inside this building ... but it seemed to advertise another two about some sort of riding tour ... or something to do with trains. We didn't walk around to the right side of the building were it seemed like those things were taking place. Looks like there is an art gallery, a small theater, plays not movies type set up, when you first walk in. Then there is a Science Tech type hands on place to the left that seems like a mini version of some of the various hands on areas of Ft Worth Museum of Science and History and the Perot. We saw someone giving some sort of bubble or fire experiment demo when I peaked in for more info ... but as we didn't know it existed we hadn't allotted more time to go to more places ... There was a mini snack area with vending machines and a few tables that we passed before getting to where we were going which was the Video game Museum. Next time now that we know more things are in this building we will allow for more time to check out other things here ... the science tech thing offered some sort of way to visit most if not all of the things there for one price so might be what we do next time once we get more info on that package. read more

A little disappointed that there wasn't much to do. It was packed. I think they had too many schools going all at once.

The Frisco Discovery Center is a building that houses several museums (Sci-Tech Discovery Center, Videogame Museum, & Traintopia or Museum of the American Railroad) that are all separate businesses from one another, so know that you'll have to buy separate tickets for each museum and make sure you check each museum's hours as they are different than the Frisco Discovery Center building's hours. The Frisco Discovery Center building also has an Art Gallery that changes art every 2-6 weeks and a Black Box Theatre that groups can rent out to host live performances, concerts, etc. (tickets for these events can be bought from the group hosting). The Sci-Tech Discovery Center is a math and science hands-on museum and is more fun for younger kids. The National Videogame Museum is a cool, interactive museum with an arcade and is fun for all ages. The Museum of the American Railroad owns Traintopia, which is an indoor model train layout, and offers walking tours to see the trains in the railyard behind the Frisco Discovery Center's building. Check out each museums websites to see what they offer. There is no restaraunt or cafe in the building, only a vending machine. This is a very cool discovery center with lots too offer and day's worth of fun here! read more
