We visited Diamonds Direct in early April and our wedding was in mid May, so the timing was getting a bit tight. While we were there, Heather (plus another staff member who I cannot remember the name of!) worked with us to help me find my perfect wedding band that complemented my engagement ring. They were patient and helpful throughout the process. Upon making the purchase, we were informed that the ring would be ready a week before our wedding so that we would have time to pick it up and make sure everything looked good. When we got to the week before mark, we hadn't received any updates so I gave them a call, and they informed us that there had been some delays and they would have the ring ready 2 days before the wedding. This caused us unnecessary stress in the days before our wedding, but thankfully Heather called to let us know that the ring was ready 4 days before the wedding! I've waited 5 days to decide to write this review. Over the last couple of weeks I've taken in…read moreabout 10 pieces of jewelry to be repaired, restrung, resized, cleaned, etc. Two sets of pearls restrung, multiple rings resized or repaired, earrings repaired, tightening of prongs, cleaning, etc. resulting in about $1200 in costs. I also took several pieces of gold jewelry to be sorted by karat and examined to be sold. When I got the offer for the gold it seemed like it could be a very low offer so I had my son pick up the pieces and bring them home. I still had 2 rings to pick up from that point and when I nice MAN called and said they were ready I went to pick them up. I was greeted warmly by Irena (one of the nicest people you will ever meet). Roluca Cohen (the mgr. who had helped me with all of it originally and who gave me the gold offer) was there helping another customer. As Irena was checking me out, my balance was $100, Roluca pipes up, in the middle of helping her customer, and says, "she has a balance!" Irena looked at her a little shocked and back at me. She seemed embarrassed by what Roluca said. I just held up my hands in a shrug. It was insulting. Did she think I was going to abscond with my rings without paying the $100 balance? It certainly sounded like she was concerned. I had planned to have all my other gold rings sold and the stones made into a specially designed ring but I will no longer do it there. I won't patronize their store again. All these positive reviews about how nice "Bob" is with which to work? I never saw a Bob. Maybe he was a previous owner. I'm unsure. I don't know what Roluca's issue was but what started as a positive experience a couple of weeks ago ended so negatively. As my family says, I'm too trusting in the sincerity of some people. This was probably one of those times. FYI: I got a much higher offer for the gold elsewhere.

I'm the guy who walks into a jewelry store and feels very uncomfortable. After finding Solitaires…read moreon Yelp as a good local option (near work for lunch-break Christmas shopping), I took a deep breath and walked into the store. Well, I actually buzzed myself in, as they have an electromagnet lock with a remote push-button release. :) Very wise. The store is fairly narrow - wide and not very deep, with lots of windows facing Bishop. Jasper's is across the street (fitting) and Cold Stone Creamery is next door. (Googlemaps says a lash studio is on the other side, which I didn't notice at the time.) The shop is well kept and classy, with beautiful old grandfather clocks and wall clocks lining the walls. The clocks are clearly a passion of the owner's, who's name is Winston. He got most or all of them in Germany, and they're fantastic. Some are for sale, some aren't. I explained that I'm the guy who feels out of his element in jewelry stores, then went on to explain my wife had this old, beat-up ring with a stone she would like mounted in a new band. I know my wife's style fairly well, but the possibilities are endless and it was ... a little intimidating. I'd never had an old stone set in a new ring before. Winston and his trusty sidekick did an excellent job at NOT making me feel the fool and helping guide me to an option that seemed suitable. We found a classic, classy ring in a catalog (made to hold a stone), he made a call to the supplier right them and there, and he nailed down all the details with time to spare during my lunch break. For some reason when I set out on this quest, I thought jewelers had lots of rings in stock and it would be a quick turnaround to have an old stone mounted in a new ring. When I told Winston I needed it in a week, his eyes got a little big and he said it'd be tight... but that he would make it happen. And he came through. It was ready with a day to spare. Sweet relief. I'd had trouble picturing the final product based on a stock ring picture I saw in a catalog, so I was a little nervous to see how it turned out. It absolutely topped my expectations. Winston and the guy who helps him with custom work (who I did not meet) did a fantastic job. Beautiful work. It came out great. It came out so well and the ring looks so classy that I'm actually worried that the old stone's flaws (scuffs and wear) are now highlighted by the beautiful new mount. I'm going to laugh when my wife says she loves the ring - but that it needs a new stone. :) Hopefully not... Winston really came through for me - and in time for Christmas, despite my lack of foresight on the time needed to pull this off. The price seemed very fair to me, and he also gave me credit for the old, beat-up gold band that originally held the stone. Nice to not have to go somewhere else (especially somewhere of questionable repute) to try to get some cash for that.

He also fixed my little deco white Yakut Russian diamond solitaire that kept gettin caught on everything, the prongs had wore down & needed to be fixed. Henley had the jeweler redo the prongs on it. The jeweler even came out of the service area & brought me my deco solitaire ring personally & told me how much he enjoyed working on it, as it's very rare to see Yakut Russian miner cut diamonds nowadays. Henley is the sweetest. He showers me with outrageously expensive diamonds while I'm there, showing me this & that adorning me with gorgeous super expensive canary diamond bracelets & jewels just for fun while we share a glass of champagne.
