Yep, it's loud in there. Especially if you go when they're doing live music. There was a guy on the guitar when I was there (4/6/2013). He was actually really good. If you're looking to have a conversation though during the live music you're going to be yelling. Our waiter was pretty cool. Seemed like a genuine good guy. I've been here twice now and can unequivocally say it's an average experience at best. The food: The calamari was better than average (i.e. not chewy and has a nice house sauce that comes with it). The nachos are nothing special; they contain all the usual suspects but I was pleased that the toppings were spread throughout the layers of chips so there weren't a bunch of wasted empty chips. The crab dip/pretzel knots were just ok; an interesting concept but not well-executed. Their salads are very unique and delicious. And the food is filling. Haven't had dessert there because I've been full on leaving. So, really the food is all serviceable but it's hit or miss as to whether you will walk away saying wow or just walk away with a full belly. And for the average price ($15-$20 pp) you'd kind of like to walk away feeling more than just full. The bar: also just ok. They have a large variety of beers but you're kinda screwed unless you know exactly what you want because the staff is not at all versed in the beers they are stocking at the time. A random stranger in the restaurant that night probably could have given a better beer recommendation. And only one wheat beer on a wall full of taps? A little lacking when you have "dozens of beers on tap." The mixed drinks (I had a margarita on one occasion) were just ok as well. So apparently if you don't want a beer here then you're just going to get an average drink at an above average price. This place resides in the same shopping center as a shop I frequent. What good is a new, larger location if they cannot hire an efficient wait staff and there's no where to park? Every once in a while we get tired of our usual bars in Columbia and try Frisco's again, and each time it is equally as disappointing. This last time the waitress was fully of eye-rolling and catty comments until check-paying time when a misunderstanding about the bill brought out a full-fledged sermon about how the restaurant is owned by an individual not a large corporation and if they took every item off peoples bills that did not meet their expectations, Frisco's would go out of business. Customer service 101 - when something sucked for a customer, don't preach to about your restaurants sob story. Go get a manager, or provide a coupon to use next time, or pretend to act apologetic. Parking is terrible after dark. We were there for about 3 hours and near the end the cops were coming in with a list of cars that were about to be towed and the wait staff went around to each table trying to find those people to get them to move their cars. Food is so-so but way over priced. Don't get the nachos, $10.20 for a couple of chips, a drizzle of cheese, and a few sprinkled toppings. Burritos aren't too bad but you might as well go to Chipotle. Chilli-infused risotto cakes were interesting, and there weren't any complaints about the pale ale corn dogs. read more

Great beer selection for those of us who can't drink a beer unless it's exotic and full of flavor. They display all of their beers on a screen when you walk in which helps when deciding, a lot easier than trying to locate a menu. The taps are always changing so there is something new to try on every visit. The food is eclectic but really good. I had the Pad Thai and the portion was beyond generous. There was just enough spice in it and the vegtables were cooked perfectly. My fiance had a chicken sandwhich which was huge and delicious. The fries were only decent but who goes out for the fries? Love love love love LOVE Frisco!!! I can't say enough good things about this place. As a beer geek and a foodie, it doesn't get much better. Granted, they've gone through a few chefs, but I think Adam (the owner) has it nailed down. The risotto cakes and latkes are always a good starter, and for entrees, I usually rotate between the spicy steak sammich, the pale ale corn dogs, or the buffalo burger. Food specials are good as well; I had an ale-cheddar soup recently that was particularly memorable. I'm sure you're asking "but what about the beer??" Well, this place has FIFTY taps, and they rotate on a regular basis. They've recently started brewing their own beer in the front room under the name of Push Brewing, and I haven't had a bad beer from them yet. Keith and Brian are walking encyclopedias of beer knowledge, and all the bartenders have been VERY patient with my indecisiveness when I go in there. :P Speaking of beer, every Wednesday is Pint Night, which is where they feature a particular brewer, and if you order a beer from that brewer (say, Dogfish Head), you get to keep the glassware. Excellent beer selection. Lots of local microbrews including a couple on cask until they sell out and a couple nitros. The jambalaya is awesome. I usually douse mine in sriracha to get the spice level where I like it, but if you are not insane like me you might find the spice level hot enough to start. Speaking of sriracha, there is a bottle of Huy Fong on every table so you don't have to ask. I have also enjoyed the fajitas, Spicy Steak Samich, and a pork belly dish they sometimes have on special, but most of the time I just get the jambalaya. The only reason I don't give it five stars is the noise level and the lack of parking. It does get noisy at dinner time and when the bar is busy. So, I usually go early or during lunch. There is not a lot of parking. At busy times they do have a valet, but more than once he has turned us away because the lot he uses was full. read more

My husband and I decided to stop in for lunch today (we've ordered from them via Carryoutmenu.com in the past) but we received the shock of our lives! We entered around 2pm and the place was basically empty (there were no more than 6 other patrons). The hostess seated us promptly, and the wait and bar staff were huddled together at the bar (about 5-6 people). We sat for about 10 minutes, and NO ONE even addressed us. Finally, I saw a waitress walk toward us...but, wrong again...she went to check on a table near us (with 2 adults and a baby). I watched her look in our direction and figured...she or one of the various other idle staff would take our order. Wrong once again! I've been here just once and I was very pleased with my meal. We started off with the wings, per review from my neighbor. The wings are, admittedly good, but are really nothing special for anyone with a grill. The wings are great restaurant wings because they are grilled and the bbq sauce is really good. Not many places have real "grilled" wings like you would get at a cookout. Furthermore, the wings are meaty--like real whole wings cut into portions. I do feel like the wings are bit pricey, but they are good. That said, I grill chicken wings at home routinely and didn't find these wings to be any better then my own, just without the work (which is definitely worth something). We also chicken nachos and I had a bbq pork sandwich for my meal. The bbq sauce there is, as previously mentioned, really good. The seasoning on the chicken was also really good. The portion size of cheese/chicken/etc on the nachos left something to be disired, but the taste was good. I would not call the food here bland in any way. Next time I will get a burrito since that seems to be all the rave. My friend had bbq shrimp on skewers, which I tasted, and that was also very tasy. The prices are a bit steep for the portion sizes, but the taste makes it worth it. Try it out, I think you'll like it. The restaurant is a little small, but they do offer patio seating although I'm not sure if there is waitress service out there. Alright, here's the deal...5 stars for beer list, 2.5 stars for food... I'll start with the beer....the beer list is HUGE, so there's something for everyone and the menu is constantly rotating, so it's a beer lovers dream bar. Unfortunately, I just wasn't impressed with the food at all...typically pub type food, but mediocre at that. There are too many pubs in this area with good food for that to even be an issue. For example, my daughter ordered the kids chicken tenders which came out dark brown and extremely crunchy, hardly any chicken at all and they didn't even take it off the bill....annoying! Great vibes, good food, and tons of beer! This was my first time at Frisco and I hope it won't be my last! The interior is spacious and clean; even though it was packed and buzzing with energy, it never felt too crowded or overwhelming. Our server was absolutely amazing. I wish I remembered her name! We ordered the Mahi tacos, mussels, and wings as appetizers to share and I ordered the Jambalaya as an entree. -Mahi tacos: Nothing spectacular and there were only two medium-sized tacos that came with the meal. I probably wouldn't get these again. -Mussels: Spectacular! These mussels are steamed with garlic butter and minced chorizo which added a delicious flair to the already flavorful mussels. There are chunks of creamy goat cheese dispersed throughout the mussels that compliment the meal very well. The whole dish is topped with three pieces of lovely and crusty french bread. I suggest you save some of the bread and use it to soak up all the yummy juice that's left behind after the eating the mussels. This dish is so good that you'll definitely want to savor every single part of it! -Wings: Sweet and crisp on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. Everything you could want from wings! -Jambalaya: While this dish had its merits, it was wayyyy too salty for my taste. However, the portion size was huge, the rice was cooked well, and it was chock-full of chicken, chorizo, shrimp, and crawfish! They definitely don't skimp on the protein. If it wasn't so salty I would order this dish again, but I couldn't even finish half of my meal because of the staggering amount of sodium. Let me just say I "heart" Frisco Grille. I've been going to Frisco Burrito in Towson (that is now closed unfortunately) since it opened, and regularly make the trek from Bel Air to Columbia now just to get a Burrito from Frisco Grille. It helps that the location in Columbia also has a great beer selection. 20 taps of craft beer awesomeness. I started out with the burritos from long ago in Towson, but have also branched out into all the other goodness that they serve and have yet to be disappointed by anything that I've had. And with the soon to be expansion in a new location and the upcoming menu expansion, I can't wait to try the new items that will be coming on the menu. When it comes to beer, you can't go wrong at Frisco. With the house beer being Resurrection, you know things can't be wrong. Every other tap is rotated on a per keg basis, so there is always something new and tasty on tap. Finding a group of people more knowledgeable than Brian, Keith or Oliver about beer. If you are feeling adventurous just play the "Beer Me Game" with any of them and you won't go wrong with whatever they select for you to drink. Only complaint I have is that they aren't closer to my house (a 45 minute drive for a burrito is ridiculous... but it is much better than Chipotle/Qdoba) and that the place is so small. Granted the size issue is being fixed as soon as they move into their new location right up the street around Thanksgiving. read more

My husband and I decided to do a last minute date night and most places were completely packed so we settled on trying someplace new. I cannot say that I was impressed. I ordered a glass of wine and my husband a beer, while he loved his beer and my wine was good, they gave me the tiniest glass of all time for a hefty price. Next we ordered the crab dip appetizer, now this is my ONLY reason for 2 stars. That dip was amazing and I would highly recommend it, it would also be the only reason I would come back. My husband got a burger in which he thought was alright, and I got the tuna salad. Now sushi and tuna are one of my favorite foods and I will usually eat it in anything, this tuna tasted weird and had a shinyness to it that we found very strange. I didn't finish my salad and was thankful we got an appetizer. The service wasn't that great and I was really disappointed by the atmosphere. It was jut a bunch of tables lined up in a very brightly lit room. It would be good for football sundays when all the sports bars are filled up around the area. All in all, we wont be going back, even as a last resort. We really wanted to like this place since it was so close to home. :/ read more

Frisco's isn't half bad! But it's not outstanding either, sadly. Their beer menu is constantly rotating, and the servers are all generally pretty helpful when it comes to selection. This isn't Buffalo Wild Wings or Your Average Joe Sports Bar & Grille, and the quality and diversity of their beer menu reflect that sentiment quite well. Another plus is that they've got a lot of space, and the place has got a nice down-to-earth vibe that I find comforting. That being said, the highlight here is the beer, not the food. The prices are a little steep for average bar food and you're not going to come back here for their culinary prowess, trust me. I've had a few dishes, but I'll spare you the oh-so-mediocre reviews of them all and I'll just say that the spicy buffalo chili could have been Wendy's chili for all I cared since it really didn't taste any different. The last time I went I actually stumbled upon their lounge area, which was a ghost town for some reason. I would have assumed that a good deal of people would consider those spots to be premium, but everyone was huddled around the bar or at the regular tables. Maybe on busy weekend nights it's different. If you're from the area and you're looking for a laid back spot to have a few beers and meet up with friends, this is your place. Friscos brew pub is by far the best restaurant/ brew pub that I've been to in Columbia. It has a great atmosphere, good food and even better beer ( most of them are over 7%, which is AWESOME). Decided to stop by Frisco Taphouse & Brewery on my way back to NJ for dinner. This place doest look like much from the outside, but on the inside its a microbrewery with quite the tap selection of hard to find beers on draft. This is a beer bar, with the special bonus of having beers they make in-house on tap! The bartender was nice enough to let me sample most of the Push (the local beer label) beers. I ended up ordering a pint of the Push/Tröegs Dirty Nectar Brown IPA. For dinner, ordered the Seared Mahi Fillet w/ creamy polenta, baby spinach, mango salsa, and lemongrass vinaigrette. There was plenty of fish and this meal was quite simply fantastic! Well worth the 15$ or so. I really wished this place was local. This falls under my 'good value' category of awesome food, awesome beer (both brewed in-house and local guest), and a good fair price. Its not wonder they were quite packed! read more

When you first walk in past the receptionist person( very nice and inviting), you are heartfully greeted by a "WALL" of beer taps and LCD screens! Like most bars, the LCD screens contain a range of TV Shows, Sports, News, etc etc, but at the Tap Room it is differant. You are also greeted by a very large list of Beer and there alchol content, which beers you ask, the beers on tap. This LCD screen is the Tap Room's beer menu! The reason they house it on a giant LCD screen is because it is ever changing. (If you look off the upper right of the bar you will see a set of stairs and at the top you will see a massive collection of taps that they rotate in and out!!) Overall Beer was 5 out of 5. Food!:) The food at the Tap room is good , tasty, and they offer a good variety of differant flavors, textures, and spice levels. I was impressed with the variety of Veg. options too, we ordered Veg Empandas, Veg Nachos, risotto cakes, Mex BBQ soft Tacos, and a Veg. Burrito. All the food was flavorful and served and cooked well. Veg. Empandas were good not great, but they were HUGE... largest empandas I have seen. Veg Nachos were good, fresh vegs on top, and there is an option of adding tofu(didnt try the tofu, but will next time). The Risotto cakes were ok, mushy, but thats what they are supposed to be( not my cup of tea). Veg. Burrito was good, large portion, and the black beans and filling was hearty and flavorfull. The BBQ Chicken tacos were great, the chicken was very moist and flavorful! The mustard sauces they give you are great and some are hot! Overall the food was 4 out of 5. They know their beer here and have a lot of it. The draft selection is rotating so there's almost always a new beer to try. On select Wednesday's during the month they invite in different brewery reps to promote their beers with tastings, talking and promo stuff. The burritos are huge and the basic ones are priced like Chipotle ($6.95 for a chicken burrito). I had enchilada's once but the platter was fairly sparse, so if you're ordering them and you're hungry get sides. read more

If you can't read that far, just pull up the website on your phone. So clever. They have your typical fratboy beer such as Coors Light and Yuengling--which I admittedly like. Don't waste your time on beers like this when you can try any of the domestic and international craft beers. It's a great place to just sit back and enjoy beers you'd never heard of. This place must survive purely on word of mouth advertising, because the location is in a business park that's out of sight from the main highway. But the first thing you notice when you walk in is the sheer number of draft taps on the wall, (50 to be exact). Add another 130 or so selections in bottles, and this quickly becomes a place that will have something to satisfy even the biggest beer aficionado. And for the "gadget geek" beer aficionado's, you can review Frisco's beer selections via your smart phone too, (the link is on the menu). The menu at Frisco's looks like whoever designed it just couldn't make up their mind, (but this isn't necessarily a bad thing). The menu can probably be best described as Tex Mex meets Tapas meets pub grub, with a few other oddball items thrown in. I looked for something light, but unusual, on my first visit and I settled on "GUS' GREEN TACOS" from the tapas portion of the menu. These are the spicier version of their Mahi Mahi Tacos, which are Frisco's take on Baja Fish Tacos. The tomatillo and green chile marinaded mahi mahi was just right on the heat factor, very flavorful, and had just the right amount of fresh lime juice to accent the whole party going on in your mouth. I don't think anyone is going to accuse Frisco's of being a 5-star dining experience, but it's definitely a fun little place with reasonably good food and an extraordinary beer selection that can be an adventure of exploration in and of itself. read more

The place was packed so they must be doing something right. I stopped into the Frisco tap-house for some beer on a Saturday night. I read they had a good selection of beer in tap- not untrue. They had beers from Evil Twin, Lauganitas, Sierra Nevada, a few local brews along with their own brews and more. Although I did not eat there I saw other people's food and it looked good. Frankly, the atmosphere was not for me. Like I said, it was packed. There was no place to sit. It was bright and wide open. It just wasn't the type of place I was looking for. Meh. Great beer selection, but the food really isn't up to par. Apparently they used to known for their burritos. Had a steak burrito, with guac and sour cream on the inside. The steak was actually pretty tasty, but it composed about 5% of the burrito. The guac was about 2% and the rest was cheese and rice. The tortilla was pretty dry and not a traditional tortilla. My burrito standards are pretty high. My favorites are in San Francisco, and even my favorite hometown burritos (east coast) don't compare. But even Chipotle would blow this place away. Beer was good, food was good, prices too high, but hey its Columbia. Friday night me and my boys went out for some good old fashioned beginning of the weekend fun. It was a nice atmosphere and we were able to have a good time and felt that we were treated good. So good we even tipped the waiter generously. I do think the prices are outrageous, but that only means I'll be more careful and order less next time. read more

This place has two things I like: it's a nice, new space and it's got a good beer list. Other than that: the service is meh, and the food is blech. I wouldn't come here for the food if it were the only Mexican place in town; I can make much better myself for probably a third of the price. If your food is going to be lackluster, you shouldn't price it like you're running a local gem. I'm not really sure why you would come here... As stated the beer list is good, but it doesn't really have any of the other accoutrements of a good late night bar/hangout. Since writing my last review we've been here a few more times. Note that the manager did contact me on Yelp! to address my concerns and explain a few things, which I thought was thoughtful. Every time we've been here since the last review, we've had very good service. If food was messed up (which only happened once or twice), it was immediately corrected. I love the fact that they're vegetarian and vegan friendly, and it's great for large parties. The menu has changed a bit as a result of them hiring a new chef, but I haven't tried any of the new things. The people I was with said the new items were excellent. read more

Well I have to say that I was quite disappointed with our visit especially after such a great experience in Crofton. Our server was good but the quality of the food was not. They had Buffalo Wings as a special, which of course made me quite excited being that is one of the foods i miss most from home. I asked if they were crisy and the server said that they could make it that way. When they came out they did not appear right. They appeared very dark and when I bit into one it turned out to be burned. It almost appeared as though they they dropped them back in the fryer with the sauce on them. I mean there was actual burned /char on them. Our server got another order withouy issue. The sauce was not Buffalo but ok. It also seemed the wings may have been roasted or par cooked as they only took about 5 minutes to come out. My wife's fajitas were ok, nothing to chat about. The fries were soggy and the nachos were buried under miles of cheese sauce. Not the best place and it will be awhile before we return. read more
