We have been coming here for over 10 years on a weekly basis! I find all the staff very caring and professional, when one of our dogs passed away, they were extremely helpful to make sure our other dog was doing well and socializing after losing her "sister". I always find them to be very professional, making sure the dogs have their vaccinations up to date which makes me feel safer dropping off our dogs. The groomer is also amazing, and our shaky chihuahua mix now loves having her nails done. That alone is a miracle! We have also boarded our dogs there and they are eager to go back which shows us that they are very well taken care of :) Highly recommend for responsible dog owners!! read more

I recently boarded my two doggies for eight nights at Frisky Dog and scheduled a grooming appointment for the last day of their stay. My 13.5 year old dog has been having some health issues lately and required receiving meds and ear drops twice a day. I cannot thank Sheryl, Laura, Candace, and Ross enough for taking such good care of her. Also, the groomer, Kelsey, did a fantastic job on both dogs. We used Frisky Dog a couple times prior and had many good experiences until.. well, until we didn't. I had dropped the pup off for the day and my husband picked him up. All seemed well until I went to scratch the pup on his neck and it was crusty. Upon further inspection, our dog was bleeding. We found a bite wound (deep) and went to the ER Vet for treatment. The staff had never told us that there had been a fight or, really, anything! My husband picked up the pup and the staff just handed him over with "yep, normal day." Two hours later we were at the ER vet. I called them the next day and got a story about how "oh we were going to call" (sure) and "we checked him and he wasn't bleeding here" (again: sure)... apparently someone had seen the whole thing (and again, nobody called us or told us when we picked him up). My dog had been humpy (happens) another dog didn't like it (also happens). I'm not mad about the bite but to just not say anything and, what, hope I didn't notice? None of the options here are good: either they didn't know what happened, or they knew and didn't say, and either way they have a dog in their care that will bite another dog on the neck deep enough that we needed emergency care. So, I really like the facility, love the outdoor space, and our dog really seemed to enjoy himself while he was there. But the lack of any kind of proactive communication about something as serious as a dog bite means we won't be back. If you won't tell us that, what else aren't you saying? read more

So after almost 2 years of bringing my pup to Frisky Dog I was told my dog is no longer welcome there. The reason given was "gate aggression". Apparently when a dog gets excited and plays like a big dog does with other dogs coming in and out at the gate, the staff sees it as a behavioral issue with safety concerns for their staff and other dogs. I saw the video of the so called incident...news flash it's called playing! Prove this review wrong and post it. I guarantee nobody will see anything but play. I excused Frisky Dog after my dog was there and was bit and skin punctured excessively according to our vet. The bill ran me $300 and nothing from Frisky Dog and no removal of the other dog. I excused the many times I came to pick up my dog at the end of the day only to find her crated while all the others were playing. I excused the fact that when I boarded my dog instructions and extras I paid for weren't delivered. I excused the fact that several members of the staff were mean to my dog when taking her in the morning. Thanks for telling me we were no longer welcome...I should have quit coming there a long time ago! People do not be fooled by this place. Your pup is a family member and deserves to be treated kindly as do you. I have always been overly friendly with the owner of this establishment and he always had an attitude towards me. Yet again I excused it. It was probably because he didn't like my dog. I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere for daycare. This place has no cameras and booking appointments is a major pain. Nobody ever answers the phone and they don't do anything on line which in today's world is so outdated. I have been a loyal customer to Frisky Dog grooming facility for over 11 years and I have been satisfied with their customer service, care and their groomers...until now...I have a new Cocker Spaniel, so of course, I figured I would continue as one of Frisky Dog's loyal customers...Only this time...when I picked my dog up she was noticeably different from when I dropped her off. She was extremely lethargic and the whites of her eyes were very red. She was certainly not her active, cheery self. Never have I seen her in this state. We came home and she slowly made her way to her dish and attempted to drink a little water. I noticed she seemed to be in distress, unable to drink and was making a strange whimpering/wheezing noise, like she was having trouble swallowing and possibly breathing. Upon petting her I discovered a bandana tied tightly around her neck. It was so taunt, I could not get even one finger under it. I had to cut it off. The part of the bandana (around her neck) measured 9 inches. I took her collar off and it measured 13 inches. I felt this needed to be brought to the management of Frisky Dog. Had I not noticed the bandana, she may have endured permanent damage or worse. I met with the co-owner and the groomer (who immediately began recording the meeting on her cell phone. Never did she request my consent). The co-owner immediately became Very belligerent, loud and dramatic in his actions, denying - not listening - not letting me complete a sentence. (all the while, customers were coming in and out). He continued throwing and wailing his arms all over, as he paced and shouting inappropriately at me. He denied any wrong doing. After another employee stepped in and finally calmed him down, he unwillingly made a very animated and mocking apology, making it clear he was NOT sincere. I requested my money back. He printed it out and threw it at me. He told me I am not allowed to set foot in Frisky Dog again. I approached the situation calmly, I didn't really get to say anything other than the bandana was far to tight on my dogs throat, and he immediately berated me for expressing my concern. My conclusion is: the manager (co-owner) was extremely unprofessional, very rude, and highly dramatic. He turned the meeting into a vulgar and disrespectful fiasco. He was out of control and out of line. I called the other co-owner of Frisky Dog. She told me, I hit a sore spot when I made a statement regarding valid concern for my dog. I felt there was no regard for the safety of their customer's animals nor the respect for their paying clients. read more

I've been taking our high energy 9 month old French Bull dog to Frisky Dog for the the better part of 3-4 months.The facility and staff are great! My dog shows a great deal of excitement when entering the front door. The staff shows real care and interest in the care for my dog. I recently boarded our dog for 3 days at FD and was extremely pleased. Got a full and detailed update when I picked up my dog. My dog was groomed here 2-3 times, comes out squeaky clean and smelling like roses very impressed. As a small business owner, I wish more small businesses in the area would operate like FD. We might of had the worst grooming experience of our life! We made a special visit to meet and talk with groomer who assured us she was qualified and could perform the grooming on our pup. We brought in pictures and talked and she never once told us she wouldn't be able to do what we were asking, yet when we picked up our dog we couldn't even recognize him. I am very sorry to say that I am extremely disappointed with the care that my 8-month old puppy received when she was boarded with Frisky Dog last weekend. Upon picking her up after what was only a 24-hour stay, I wondered what in the world had happened to her. When I first saw her she looked miserable. Her ears were down and she had some sort of wet spots on top of her head. She was clearly in distress. Upon further review, we noticed that my poor puppy reeked of urine. What in the world happened in the one day she was there? Penny has been potty trained and excelled in her puppy classes at Petsmart and she is a very well-behaved dog so I can't fathom her wetting her crate unless she was left in a crate for more than 8 hours straight. We got her home around 10am and she urinated for a long while and also had a bm. Was she taken outside? I don't know. We put her straight into the tub and she just wasn't herself. Not only that, but we actually saw the yellow FUNK coming off of her in the tub. This is unacceptable. She had been washed just 2 weeks prior and hadn't gotten into any other messes. Did she wet the crate? Do they stack crates and did another dog wet the crate, causing it to drip onto her head? Did she sit or sleep in urine? I'm not sure we will ever know because it was not addressed when we picked her up. Our poor baby. read more

Are you going on a vacation that doesn't allow dogs? This is the place to go! These guys do fantastic with pet-sitting for my dog. The dogs are active with activities including playing with other dogs. After the vacation is done, your dog is ready to go home feeling happy and healthy! The service is excellent. I took my dog for his first day of daycare or as they say it "playcare" today and we will definitely be back! My husband and I dropped by to check out the place a few weeks ago but unfortunately, we couldn't see the indoor area since they were holding an event. They also have a big outdoor area as well - which my husky LOVES! $15 for half day of daycare $26 for a full day (over 5 hours) They are also very involved in the community with adoption fairs and events! We are very glad this place opened - it was much needed in the area and we can't wait to bring our husky back! read more

We have been taking our 1 year old lab/border collie mix to this place since she was five months old. We were a bit apprehensive at first, as anyone may be when sending their dog off to "playcare" for an entire day. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Frisky Dog offers boarding, playcare (daycare), grooming and training services. The staff members that work here are wonderful and passionate about the dogs that come in and they are always excited to see our little pup. Frisky Dog is a cute little place with LOTS of play room for your dogs. There is an indoor and outdoor area to accommodate the playfulness of the dogs no matter what the weather condition is like. The play areas have some obstacles for them to run up and around on as well as a lot of general open area for them to run. There is always at least one staff member in the area as well to ensure that all the dogs are playing safely and having fun! There have been numerous times when our dog has not eaten prior to us bringing her there for the day, but you are allowed to bring in the food or a snack with the dog's bowl so that they have the opportunity to chow down when they aren't playing. Our dog has always enjoyed coming here and practically drags me through the parking lot to get into the building. She loves playing with the other dogs (you can see them on a video camera located in the lobby/check-in area). By the time we pick her up at the end of the day, she is happy and exhausted! The pricing is a bit more than larger companies (i.e., petsmart's daycare), but our dog prefers to spend most of the time playing, rather than sitting in a small room. We LOVE Frisky Dog!! read more

This place is beyond wonderful! I have used them once a week for boarding since they've opened. They are fantastic people who really look out for your four-legged family members. My dog is older and requires a little more care than the average pooch. He always comes back to me looking better than how I dropped him off! The staff is amazing. I feel like they are our second family. All of the employees have dogs of their own who, most often, get to join in on the fun! They are very organized and the environment is beyond clean. LOVE Frisky Dog! I take my 5 year old lab there about twice a week and he always has a wonderful time. When we get there the staff is always friendly and my dog cannot wait to go and play. When I pick him up he has a big smile on his face and the staff usually tells me what he did that day.... played in the pool, played like crazy... Our now 4 year old pup, Scout, has been playing at Frisky Dog since she was an actual pup, and we have had nothing but positive experiences -- from play care to boarding to training to grooming. Inevitably there is a moment on our drive to FD in which it registers where she is going, and she becomes crazy with excitement; she starts jumping back and forth in the back seat and whimpering with happiness! When we pull into the FD parking lot she all but pulls our arm out of the socket trying to get inside! We love Frisky Dog, and more importantly, Scout loves Frisky Dog! read more

They seem to care more about themselves than pets it seems. They approached me aggressively making me feel guilty for not promoting their business/event by hanging a sign ( I hang no other signs either ). The guy argued with me saying "the lady" put his sign up last year. I was there, nobody hung his sign. Stop being rude to people who don't help you make money or promote your events please. When someone politely says no thanks, accept it. This guy's pitch was "you might know me, I own a business." I have not seen you active in the community outside your business so you are not familiar. If you were familiar, the answer would be the same and I'd expect the same grace in understanding that I can't help you. Even things people would like to support personally are often not appropriate to promote in a business setting. That shouldn't be a problem, or a reason to be rude to anyone. Go to The Barker Shop or Chicago Canine or even Countryside Vet. My dogs have been groomed/attended daycare/boarding at all three and the at minimum the people are friendly. read more

As a first-time dog owner, of an older dog to boot, I was nervous about caring for him in general but especially about bringing him to daycare which wasn't part of his previous routine. Frisky Dog quickly took away my fears. After a short period of adjustment, my dog began to engage with other dogs versus keeping to himself. He now enthusiastically greets everyone (as they do him) and runs to the play area as soon as we walk in. He's equally happy, albeit tired, when I pick him up. I've also learned a lot about dog behavior from the staff. In particular Ross, Emily and Cheryl have been extremely warm, kind and patiently answer my ongoing questions. Wendy, the groomer, also does stellar work. They are loving and caring dog owners themselves and you'll regularly see their dogs at Frisky too. Granted not every dog (or owner) will have the personality or disposition needed for doggie daycare. But if you are in the market for a place you should feel confident about trying Frisky Dog. I did my homework and toured several places that also got positive reviews. Frisky Dog came out on top thanks to the knowledgeable and dedicated staff and the high quality, spacious and very clean facility. I highly recommend them. read more

Been Taking my Dog here for many years never had any issues and I never said a word when my dog came home with the Doggie cough that lasted for 6 weeks twice. Today I was told that my dog who has never had an issue with another dog or Human was being aggressive with another animal. And when the "attendant went to break it up he was Aggressive with the attendant. I understand safety but really? No second opportunity to re-evaluate? Pretty crappy way to treat a long time customer. And he was so aggressive and they were so concerned about safety that the person at the front desk referred me to another Boarding Kennel in Countryside!!! I call for reservation and they tell me that based on a note in their computer that was written in 2014 my dog has anxiety issues. In order to board my dog I need to bring him for half day play and pay for it. The funny thing is, my dog has stayed with them 4 times since 2014 without any complains. Really unhappy with how my $3000.00 Bedlington terrier was groomed. I called many places and most hadn't even heard of the breed as it is rare. Anyway, Wendy was supposed to have groomed one. My puppy is 11 weeks old and now looks like a schnauzer. She butchered his face. His body came out cute although NOT BEDLINGTON . If you couldn't be true to the Bedlington look just say so!!!!!!!! I questioned her when I picked him up and she informed me that this wasn't a show dog but a pet, so it's a version of Bedlington. - news flash my dog's father WON BEST IN SHOW AMD BREED FOR BEDLINGTON TERRIERS!!!! So just because I choose not to show my dog at this time doesn't mean I won't! And when a person buys a poodle - they expect there dog to be groomed as such and so on and so forth. We've been taking our 9 month old Weimaraner here every couple days or so for playcare. We initially thought of it so she could socialize with other dogs and have some playmates, but it's become very convenient for when we're busy/working as well! She LOVES it! She's a very high energy dog so having her come home pooped is so nice! Yes, she definitely smells like "dog" when she comes home, but I'd say it goes with the territory. The staff is very friendly and attentive. When I toured the facility before bringing her there I was comforted to see their staff outside with the dogs playing and taking care of them. I'm kind of a crazy paranoid doggy mom and it's nice to be at ease for once :). All-in-all this place has saved my social life and made my pup happier than a clam! Love love love it. read more

LOVE this place!! Ross is a pleasure to work with, returning emails and calls. I have never put my dogs in daycare , never boarded them. I didn't have a choice, as we put our house on the market, and I can't walk four dogs for more than a half a block. They are so tired at the end of five hours at Frisky Dog; the ride home is much more relaxing and quiet!! The people that work there really do consider the dogs their babies and look after them playfully and lovingly. The price is very fair for my four dogs, having a discount for more than one dog. They have been four times already. When we have the inspection and the move out of our house, I know where my dogs will be heading! read more

I work all day like most of us and I have a young Pit/Dalmatian mix and a few other smaller breed dogs. As she has gotten bigger and needing more exercise, I haven't been the best dog mom. Being tired after a long day and my other crew of pups are not up to her speed, if you know what I mean. I started looking into other options, one being Frisky Dog. I am in a pet service business myself, so I do know how to look at a pet service business and rate them to what I try to give in my own business. My personal opinion of the staff, facility and how they treat my Eli May is just wonderful! I trust them completely with my girl. She has had 1/2 days and full days playing and on full days you can even bring a lunch for your fur friend. Yes and they really do give your pup their lunch!. Anyway, I think that Frisky Dog is an asset to Brookfield and the surrounding area for people who need to socialize and exercise for their high energy pet. The price for day play care I think are reasonable and within my budget and if you are to be lucky enough to have a Pit as a family member then you should know, there are not too many Dog Day Care facilities that will take our Bully Breeds. Frisky Dog welcomes them after a meet and greet with staff and observation to make sure they are a good fit. Over all I feel very good about leaving Eli May in their care. I picked up our dog from a grooming and on our the way home I noticed blood on the car seat. Our dogs nail was bleeding. I called Frisky Dog and left a message. When the associate called back the first thing she said was that he was not bleeding while in their care. She stated that it probably started bleeding again once he hit the concrete. I thought it hadn't bled there??? The grooming usually takes an hour to an hour and a half. I am guessing he was there three hours to stop the bleeding.She also stated this happens all the time, is very common, and she has done it to her dog many times. Two things.... The right thing to do would have been to be honest and tell me what happened. They can no longer be trusted. Also, I am not taking my dog to be groomed by people that clipping nails to short is common practice and it happens all the time as stated by the associate. In all my years as a dog owner this has never happened during a grooming. read more

I would leave zero stars if possible. I had my 2 dogs there to be groomed today and will never be back again. The woman was INCREDIBLY rude. She had an attitude that my dogs were an inconvenience in her day. She should probably find a new industry. When I got my dogs home I fond a rather large cut very near my dogs eye. I am very disappointed that the grooming service is so bad. The daycare seems to be wonderful and wish I could support the place. I have had many dogs throughout my life. Mostly Bichon Frise that have had teddy bear heads and no type of show cuts or anything. I bring my baby boy here once and i am just horrified from the result. I come to pick up Bongo and find he is completely shaved with a tiny bit of hair on the head and shaved ears. I asked for a teddy bear head and leave hair on ears and tail. No hair on ears, no hair on tail. Little bit of hair on head... Nails weren't even clipped, only the front nails. No explanation to why. If my pup was bad, i would get it. But he is always good, has never gotten complaints. They said he was fine when i asked. LEARN HOW TO RUN A GROOMING SHOP. Ill go down the road next time. read more

Ross has been difficult to work with since taking my 6 month old Rottweiler at the beginning of the year. Erroneous charges would come up on our bill for services that I had not asked for with overnight stay. Ross would say, "Didn't you read the website?" After challenging theses charges, they would comply. As a busy professional, I don't have time to read word for word, line by line, their website. A simple "welcome to our facility" conversation in 5 minutes would help cover details, especially if it is your first pet and first experience with the pet services they offer. Also, i was not given a tour of their facility and was made to feel that I could not see where my dog would be staying. I only was able to view their facility through little TVs propped up in the lobby area from the cameras in their facility. Sad to say, Ross has been rude and non-welcoming to us everytime we step through their doors. (over a 9 month period) I had felt a "oh, they're back again" feeling...and we were good paying customers, most were cash payments. Furthermore, I would find out that they would isolate my dog, who is extremely friendly and exuberant, from the rest of the other dogs. Ross's answer when I questioned him about this? "I've got a business to run, sir! I don't have the time and attention to devote to just him." Well, if I knew that, I would have never brought him there in the first place. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I was leaving on a last minute business trip, we called them to see if our dog can stay the weekend. (And yes, the previous weekend Ross said their dog suites were full so we could not bring our dog. Concidence?) Ross's reply was, "Well, our business has grown and we can't take care of your dog anymore. But thanks for everything!" I was reluctant from the beginning to bring my dog there and from now on, I cannot say anything positive about Ross and Frisky Dog. As a fellow business owner, I frown upon how he runs his business, the negative experience I have had unresolved and how he lacks passion for what he does. It's apparent it's just a business to Ross and he just may treat you like he did to us...as another number. I wished Ross future success and hoped I could have been part of supporting his story. But it seems that Ross has a lot to learn about running his own business. I hope your experience is different than ours...good luck. PS. I am rating Frisky Dog 4 stars, as I do not own a dog. However, I live in Brookfield and pass this place many times. It looked kind of small to me. Today, 6/22/14, they had an adoption event to which many shelters brought their dogs. Frisky Dog is VERY impressive.
