I have two nervous dogs that historically have a lot of stress when it comes to boarding, one of whom has a severe heart murmur. They just got back from their 5-night stay at OBKC, and I couldn't be happier. Because it's a smaller facility, OBKC's staff has more time to devote to each individual dog, which made me feel much more confident in leaving them there, especially with my older pup's health issues. The consistent routine each day, individual playtimes with staff, and constant access to clean, climate-controlled space and fresh water clearly kept my girls happy during their stay! You also have an option to spoil your pup with little frozen treats, and proceeds go to local charities. I received updates (with beautiful photos!) whenever I asked, and they took extra precautions to keep my older dog safe and comfortable. The pricing is very reasonable compared to other facilities, especially considering the personalized care. They came back to me clean and happy. I had to leave out of town last minute so I called around near me to no luck. I contacted OKC on a Tuesday, with a quick response and clear communication; they were able to accommodate my two pups by that Friday until the following Thurs. not many places will let you bring their own toys/belongings but I think it helped them be close to home while being so far away. Being only 6 months old and a first time boarder, we were nervous about how she would handle it. They treated me like I was not just a dog staying over. I was family. The staff made up for everything and more. Extra attention. Extra kindness. Extra love. I felt safe. I felt seen. I even felt fancy, like I was at my own little country club retreat. They also gave me a bath before pick up as per dad's request. I was clean and fluffy and so happy. Our Leonberger has been boarded here multiple times in the past, and until this stay we had had a positive experiences. We boarded him from Sunday to Thursday and opted to pay extra for a bath prior to pickup. When I picked him up he was severely matted across his back, with mats balled tightly throughout his coat. It was shocking! He has NEVER been matted before and is groomed monthly. When I raised my concern, the owner, Beth was extremely unprofessional. There was no apology, showed little concern for our dog's condition and she stated she "isn't a groomer, " despite offering bathing services as add-on. I contacted our regular groomer immediately, who advised that this type of matting is commonly caused by improper drying techniques, specifically hight -velocity dryers used incorrectly, which can cause dryer-induced matting. This was disappointing experience and has resulted in additional grooming costs and discomfort for our dog. read more

My first time boarding my two pets and I chose Oak Brook Kennel Club based on the great reviews I read. I was very impressed with how well organized the business is and how well the staff treated the pets. I had several questions prior to their stay and sent several emails that were always answered quickly. When I dropped off the pets, they asked in detail about their feeding. I had mentioned beforehand that I fed my pets a mixture of dry and wet food and asked if that would be possible at OBKC. They said absolutely as they wanted to keep the pets on the same diet as they were on at home and had a refrigerator to store the wet food. I was impressed by that. My pets returned home healthy and happy. They offer a multi pet discount of $5 per night. Overall, I was very impressed with Oak Brook Kennel Club and will definitely use them again and recommend them to others. read more

2.5 stars and angling downward.. This was a bad boarding experience. We boarded him (on short notice) and our guy came back sick, traumatized, and damaged... When asked for more details on how he got damaged and received a (snippet) lecture on dog behavior (as if we didn't know this) It definitely wasn't a great, and based on our dogs long recovery (diarrhea, separation anxiety) it has been a lot to manage.. We've boarded at Camp Bow Wow multiple times, and never had a problem. We have also boarded him at several other excellent spots throughout the country, and never had a problem at any previous stay. I don't think the standards of care here were excellent. Nor did I appreciate the "tip" feature when checking out. Kind of makes it feel like you are obligated to give something (and I wish that I hadn't tipped, because like I said, he was damaged, and traumatized) A tip for what? It's not a restaurant or coffee shop! Just really rubbed me the wrong way. This is the only boarder that has had that feature, and it was just plain weird. So contrary to many other reviews, not a 5-star experience in my opinion, and we are never going here again. read more

Lucy is a rescue from Lebanon and has always hated car rides but after the few few stays at OBKC, once we hit the highway she realizes she is going to see her friends! We just boarded our border collie with OBKC for ten days. Not only was she happy to get there when we dropped her off (she's been before, mostly for daycare) but she seemed almost unhappy to go when we picked her up. At least one of their team has experience with our high-energy, high-needs breed which gives me a lot of confidence. The people are very confident and friendly and the facility is very well-maintained and comfortable in the sense that it seems more of a home than a kennel. And yes, the trees and grass mentioned in their marketing are all true. One small additional positive in my estimation: she smelled great when we picked her up. Not like she's been in a pile of other dogs or pee. Seems basic but it's not always the case with other places. I highly recommend OBKC. ** Update Summer 2024 ** I've been fortunate to board my border collie / mini Aussie mix with OBKC twice this summer and everything from my first review still stands, and is enhanced. It's been almost five years my dog has been going here and they know her and she them and the experience keeps getting better. They seem to have some new young staff who seem great and my dog is still happy to show up there. When I pull in she knows where she is going and is excited. Just picked Savannah up today. She stays at the kennel often and loves it there. The entire staff pamper her so much, that she feels a little neglected when she gets home. But in a good way. I always get a pupdate on how she did and told how much they love her. I wouldn't take her anywhere else. Beth even holds Savannah's treats while she eats them on the way out. But not here at OBKC - she's given a larger kennel for her comfort. It helps my family and me feel less guilty about leaving her behind.
