They have new ownership and when I took my corgi the appointment seemed very rushed. Her service was completed in 20 mins and she was still slightly damp when I picked her up. When I picked her up she was not in the kennel and the receptionist had to look in the back to find her. I let them know she had a sensitive back prior the the service and to make sure to support her back and when they handed her back to me the man who was working on her held her with one arm (the other hand was being used to hold his phone to his ear for a call) and her back was not supported at all. We used to love Monica's Superior K-9's, but now that they've changed ownership it is not the same. Our dog's last grooming appointment was completed in about 30 minutes. I had asked for a bath, nail trim, anal gland expression. I thought it was weirdly fast. She was even a little damp when I picked her up. But she smelled fine, so we left. Then when I got her home I noticed her nails were not trimmed at all. It was so obviously not done, I called and they had me come back. My dog is very sweet and easy - it took them almost 15 - 20 minutes to get her nails cut. I could see in the back that there was a lot of confusion because other groomers were being called over to clip the nails. My dog has black nails, which is why I don't cut them at home. I can only guess the technician was afraid to cut black nails because she couldn't easily see the quick. This grooming visit was about 5 weeks ago. I just took her to her vet appointment, and they said her anal gland was so full it was almost to a concerning level. That tells me they did not express her anal glands when I took her in 5 weeks ago, because the doctor said it should only need to be done every 6-8 weeks. I'm just floored by how the service has not only declined, but also become somewhat dangerous. People are trusting you with their babies and believing you're doing what you're saying you're doing. This tells me you have unqualified and/or under-qualified people working on the floor just so you can take on more appointments. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will also say the front attendant who greeted me was so rude to her I assume co-worker? And looked at me and said it's hard to get anything done here because nobody working here speaks good English.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was floored. Since my pup is young and has never been to a groomer, it was recommended we do a little puppy wash and mini groom so he isn't overwhelmed. Brought my Shih Tzu Harley boy in and as usual he looks beautiful and handsome! They are so patient and kind with the boy as he is 14 years old and has a hard time seeing and hearing. Harley Davidson Smith loves coming to get groomed. He is losing his sight and hearing so it is important to have patience and be gentle. Monica is very kind and understands that. I appreciate that appointments are timely, in about an hour from drop off. Some groomers take all day while the dogs wait in que which is really frustrating because it is stressful on my senior boy. They did an awful job! We asked them to keep the shaggy look and they shaved my dog. Chunks of fur missing, not even anywhere, can see the razor marks because they didn't blend it, feet look awful! If you care how your pet looks I wouldn't take them here read more

new ownership, I dropped my 13 year old dog off there, who prior ownership was well aware of, and he walked out injured despite the fact that he was fine going in. The response from the groomer was "he flopped down in the tub", which is very clearly, at minimum , a fabrication, more likely a flat out lie in attempt to avoid accountability. Avoid at all costs, I wouldn't have a hampster groomed here, let alone a dog. If you care about your dog and honesty, stay far away. read more

Sadly my 10 year old Bernese mountain dog went for a groom perfectly fine and had to be carried out of this salon. He had 3 different broken bones in his back leg and paw. Due to his size and the severity of his condition, we put him down to save him from endless pain and suffering. This groomer who claims to be a dog lover, great groomer and business woman didn't even call to inquire about him. We had to let her know. She is always alone, upon my drop off, was at the front desk, 2 dogs tied to tables unsupervised! God only know what really happened to my baby. To add to our suffering, besides not calling, or sending us a card, she refused to pay the bill or offer anything to us. Insisted we call her insurance, which she has NONE. She offered nothing to us, in fact, dismissed us like we were trash. My husband has gone in 3 times with our bill as well as a replacement puppy we would love and all 3 times, she's been alone, dogs unattended and told him she's not paying for anything. We of course have said we will take legal action but we all know how the courts are in cook county.... I have reached out to the police as well as the city of LaGrange, I think it's criminal to not have insurance for a business like this. If we can't drive a car without insurance, how can you be responsible for our fur family members without it. This has been the worst thing we could have ever gone through and I do not know how she sleeps at night. SAVE YOUR ANIMALS!! read more

I recently moved to the area and wanted to bring my dog in for a bath, face and nail trim, and anal gland expression. When I dropped him off the staff was nice enough, but no one asked me specifics of how I wanted him to be trimmed and I repeated what services I wanted to be done. The girl said okay and took my dog into the grooming area I came to pick him up, noticed his face didn't look that different but at least he got a bath and nails were trimmed. Later that night, I realized my dog was bleeding every time he went number two (onto our rug). I realized he had a cut on his butt. I called Monica's back the next day and they told me that his anal glands were never expressed (even though I asked for this and repeated it) and if that's the case, why was hair around his butt cut, there's clearly a difference? Frustrated with the lack of communication at the start of the appointment and their reaction. The only remedy they could give me was to bring him back in to look at the cut. No thanks, my dog is bleeding as he's using the bathroom, he'll be going to a vet ASAP. I will not be going back here, I'm sure this was a one time fluke as other reviews are good, but how a groomer reacts to injuries is my number one concern as I want to trust the people using scissors around my dog. read more

Monica is the best groomer! I would never recommend anyone else....even my dog loves her!

The backstory- our dog is a lot of bark and no bite. She will bark your ear off unless you've met her about 20 times. She doesn't love being with other dogs and she certainly doesn't like getting a bath/grooming... she can be a bit of a diva! We were taking her for grooming at PetSmart. She would plant her feet as soon as I got out of the car and it was a big ole struggle to get her inside. Once we got her in, she did OK with the grooming, but it felt like with each visit, they spent less and less time with her. On the last visit to PetSmart, I didn't even have time to pick up a bag of food and pay before they were announcing she was ready for pickup! Seriously spent like 5 minutes on her. So needless to say I was in the market for a new groomer. Monica's was wonderful. It was super easy to schedule an appointment- it was a friendly and fast interaction. My pup didn't realize where were going so we easily trotted right up to the door. When she started to put up a bit of a stink, they easily picked her up and got the grooming process going. I believe her groomer this time was Kyla? She spent 40 minutes with her (I'm hoping she behaved for them!) and then sent a text update when she was ready for pickup. Daisy's nails were so much better trimmed than she's ever had before. She was adorned with an adorable handkerchief and was hanging out with another pup (sorta, but much better than she normally does) when I arrived to pick her up. The only hitch I had in the whole process was parking- the lot was packed- (no fault on Monica's!) but I was easily able to park on the next side street. I will happily bring my girl back for her grooming needs in the future! :) read more

We have a 2-year old Wheaten Terrier (the sweetest but reportedly not the easiest pup to groom as he will wiggle and tell you if he doesn't like something). All three of the ladies I spoke to at Monica's were above and beyond friendly, professional, and sweet. They reviewed how we wanted him to be groomed and then TWO ladies checked in with me when I picked him up to ensure that I was pleased with how he looked. They also reviewed how he did with them (and seemed to behave much better too, probably because he liked them!). It was one of the best grooming jobs he's had to date - and he was very calm and happy when I picked him up! Usually he's a little high strung after he is groomed so this was wonderful to see. I stopped in and found a cutely appointed, very clean shop, and was greeted by the owner, the friendly and professional, Monica. I booked an appointment for our 6 year old Springerdoodle who was way overdue for grooming! I have visited several Dog Grooming salons in the La Grange area, and have not until now been able to say, "Eureka, I found the one!" Monica's skills, attention to details, all inclusive pricing is a Value to be treasured. The grooming was superior indeed, and included nail trim and buffing. While our hound had to be groomed rather short because she was overdue, Monica did a great job bringing out the best in our lovely gal, rather than the shorn and humiliated look, as has happened before with less experienced groomers. I am beyond thrilled to have found an excellent, fair priced groomer in my neighborhood, and will enjoy supporting a top notch local small business owner. I will be spreading the word! Also to be noted: Monica told me she likes to take one customer at a time, and focus on that dog.
