It's called Fritanga Airport now--- and it still as delicious. The carne asada-- the sazón of the Niraraguan people is delicious and savory - riquísimo --- and it's soo affordable. The same steak at an American or any other place would be $30 or more .. You get your money worth-- and it's atually tasteful

Authentic Nicaraguan food at an affordable price. Fritanga Monimbo has been around for over 30 years. I have stopped here a couple of times while in Miami for a bite. It is located next to Miami International. I have been to Nicaragua before and the food here is really good. I got the chicken breast with rice and plantains. The food is displayed in front of you behind the glass at the ordering counter. They have a variety of combination plates, soups, sides and salads. If you want a taste of some delicious Nicaraguan cuisine, this is a good place to stop at.

Home style Nicaraguan food, it hits the spot anytime! I frequent this location of Fritanga Monimbo often as it's super close to me. Essentially, every time I've gone, whether it be early afternoon or later in the evening, there is minimal to no wait to place your order. I usually take my orders to go and enjoy them at home but they do have plenty of table seating inside as well. I've tried a lot of their food and all of it has been tasty. My favorite combo is gallo pinto, maduros, grilled chicken or carne asada. I get a piece of fried cheese too for extra. You can also ask for little hot sauces they make that add just a little bit of spiciness. The portions are generous and the prices are really affordable. They also have fresh juices/drinks available. My favorite is fresco de cacao which is really sweet.

The portions are huge. For around $10 dollars you get carne asada, queso frito, Gallo pinto, maduros, and salad. It's a great deal you can't go wrong. My only complaint is that the food is always served like a little bit cold. But I guess it should be expected since it's pre made food that's not made to order. Now is this place the best nica food around? Not really lol but it's convenient if you have it by you. Ladies that work there aren't that friendly either. You can eat at the restaurant or take it to go, but there's no table service if you decide to stay. Restaurant is also in need of some renovations. But like I said earlier, it's a lot of food for only $10. You can't go wrong. Go with a friend and split a completa.

I had never eaten Nicaraguan food before. This place is more like a cafeteria so I could see the food that they already prepared before I order it. I chose Carne Asada with the rice that mixed with beans. The quality of the beef was decent for the price you paid for. They gave me A LOT of rice! It also served with choice of fired or sweet plantains plus a cabbage salad. All that was for $12. I also got fried cheese for $2 more. That fried cheese was so delicious. The hot sauce they gave me was good on everything. My friend said I supposed to put that on my cabbage salad but I actually put that all over my rice and beef. The food was not the best but I gave this place 4 stars coz it was well served its purpose as a cafeteria. Grab it, eat, and leave. Nothing fancy and you cannot compare this place with a regular dine in restaurant asking for a hot meal with service. I had a little problem communicate with the ladies working there when I tried to ordered my food but nothing can't fix with a hand language and a smile.

First experience with Nicaraguan food and YUM! Had the carne asada with rice & beans, sweet plantains and a salad .... have enough for dinner tonight as well. Also, what I liked is I don't speak Spanish which can sometimes be really difficult in Miami. The lady asked my "translator" ... haha Yadi and then was really kind and patient - nice and welcomed for the area.

Today was such an international food day for me, for lunch Japanese and dinner Nicaraguan food!!! This place has been there for 20 years. That's incredible! I wouldn't suggest eating in but definitely take out. Its an old restaurant and needs some renovating that's for sure. When you walk in it's buffet style serving, only a lady takes your order. A must try is the carne asada and ensalada de repollo yummy! The repollo is a combination of cabbage and carrots shredded with vinegar and olive oil. There are many more traditional dishes such as pollo asado, lengua, pescado and more! You can choose any two sides like Gallo pinto, white rice, tamal, queso frito highly recommend!!!!! Fritanga thanks for the good food today.

Hidden gem in Miami Springs, brought here by a couple friends for our first time. Dont be fooled by the curb appeal or not seeing people eating inside the restaurant, most orders are to go. The food is already cooked and ready to serve, its lunch room style ordering. Pick your starch, followed by your choice of Protein ( Carne Asada!!!) and your single side. Plantains, potatoes, etc. Like I said, dont let the curb appeal kill the mood. The food is extremely fresh and cooked home style. This Nicaraguan kitchen is a 9 of 10 in my book. I give it 4 stars cause of the ambiance that it has. Highly recommended for lunch, or late pickup on non cooking nights! Yelp on!

Good food, good prices, and quick service. I wish there was more to say, but it is your typical fritanga. Go get that queso frito.

Rice is at times too greasy, the fried cheese here doesn't even taste like cheese, but they do have very tasty and juicy carne asada.

This particular trip was special because I took my hubby with my group of college friends and we sat in the restaurant. I had no clue the inside decor was western themed, and it was equal parts random and perfect for the chaos outside in the take out area. Most people seem to go the take out option from the cafeteria window, surrounded by coin operated games and gumball machines. They have a huge menu but the carne asada is the best thing on the menu hands down. Service is quick, but like most dive places in Miami, you're not in it for the chatty waitresses, just the sitting and taking up space over beers for 3 hours with your buds.
