My daughter and I went here for a treat during the week. Parking lot is small, but many people coming and going, so there were spots and they also have a drive through which is very convenient. This is a walk up ice cream type shop. When we arrived the line was pretty long and I expected quite the wait - not so! The line went very quickly even with only 1 order person (the rest of the staff was making the treats). The menu is very expansive and it was VERY hard for me to decide what to get. I ended up choosing a small cherry slushie and it was a good choice. For those alive in the 80s - this is just like the slushies that used to be in gas stations when I was a kid (with the lil basset hound dog logo!). It was very cold, very slushie and didn't melt too quickly. They have outdoor tables and benches to sit at and socialize. I really enjoyed that feature! So many memories at this Fritz's location in O'Fallon! We used to make my very old grandfather drive us through the drive-thru and we'd get him to say things that sounded dirty just for a good laugh... i.e., "Grandpa, tell him I want a turtle with no nuts!" ...then we'd giggle for twenty minutes in the back seat. My sister worked there when she was in high school, too, in one of those bright white outfits with the bowtie. I have pictures. Blackmail material fooooor sure. So many things are just pure delicious! Sometimes I go with my predictable strawberry concrete, but they have a huge menu to choose from. It's fun to order at the windows and sit in one of the many chairs they have lined up while you get bit by mosquitoes. It just screams summer! Make sure to also try the strawberry shortcake, the aforementioned turtle (caramel, hot fudge, and pecans) or the strawberry blondie... strawberries and marshmallows. I love this place! I love Fritz's (sung to the tune of I want candy) talk about a frozen delight, yum. If you like ice cream then you'll love frozen custard. I know, I know everything in the STL is about their competition we'll refer to as the other guys. I found out that both of them get their frozen custard from the exact same place so the only difference is in the added ingredients. Here is where Fritz's comes out on top as far as I'm concerned. Using real fresh fruit the product they put out has no equal. Take the peach melba, fresh peaches and raspberries topping vanilla custard I almost feel like I'm eating healthy. Like chocolate? Well then my friends you have found the mother lode. The chocolate overload is so filled with chocolate goodness that every time I eat it I swear I'm going to go into a diabetic coma. Chocolate custard topped with chocolate chunks, hard shell chocolate, then chocolate syrup. Hence the name chocolate overload. Was contacted by Bryan about my previous experience and he offered to rectify, thanks Bryan for reaching out- shows great customer service and am super happy I made a trip back to Fritz's. We stopped in and got a sundae and a concrete and a quart to go. Love that they offer lite options for the quart too- we got strawberry cheesecake and it was awesome. My boyfriend and I both opted for light options- his with strawberries and cheesecake and mine was the birthday cake concrete. Huge portions, awesome tasting lite ice cream, 5 stars all around. Birthday cake could have had more chunks of cake in it though- was super sprinkle heavy and cake flavored- but didn't have any cake bites. Major differentiator about this place compared to Andy's, Silky's etc is the light and sugar free options. Total game changer for dieters and literally tastes the exact same as the original. Happy to see that they were open again for the season. We ordered two small Reese's peanut butter cup concretes to go. Unfortunately, every third bite was disgusting. Great ice cream, good high school level employees (if you expect high school age kids to have Grade A customer service you might want to check you own personal expectations) who are trying their best to do a good job. Not a good custard night ! The Flavor of the day Strawberry chip taste like artificial flavor with 2 chips ( surprise we found two chips ) . It was not good ! This place is the Ted Drewes of O'Fallon. Cute patio where patrons gather to sit on the benches and enjoy their tasty ice cream, concretes, and milkshakes. You walk up to the window, place your order, and they call you when it is ready. The menu is complete on the outside of the building where you decide which sweet you want for your dessert. We came here last night with my boyfriend's parents after celebrating dinner for Father's Day. I treated everyone to a dessert where we all four found great satisfaction in our orders. I decided on the strawberry shortcake. It came with vanilla ice cream, real strawberries, and the short bread cake on the bottom of the cup. So delicious. My boyfriend went for one of their chocolate and peanut butter combos. He indulged it and was very fond of his order as well. All in all, I paid $20 for all of us. We got the larger portion sizes. For what you get, it was totally worth the money and the cute memory we made together. read more

The first time I visited I took my grandson who insisted he was having a cherry gummy worm concrete. I thought, no you're not but I won't tell you that. We came up to the window and he said.. " i want a concrete with gummy worms and cherries." I waited for it and the words that came out here mouth next floored me: OK! OK? and sure enough, he got his concrete and LOVED IT! This place puts out a great product but BEWARE! There is potential for stomach ache only due to Destroying your frozen treat too quickly! I ordered the colosal concrete turtle and smashed it in minutes! It was freaking delicious and I couldn't stop mauling it...before I knew it....i was in an custard coma! So be warned, try your best to eat at a safe pace or else the custard gets dangerous. My experience tonight was brought forth by using the drive thru during this transaction and I'll have to give kudos to the Amazing speed and service I experienced. I have been coming here for years. This has been one of my favorite ice cream shops. There is always a line because well this place is awesome. Their special creations list rotates from time to time and they do have seasonal flavors. My personal favorite right now is the peach melba. It's so yummy and sweet. I also love their cookie dough and pumpkin pie flavors. I go through the drive thru about 99% of the time. Vary rarely do I dine in, mostly because I'm the one that gets the ice cream for the family. On that note, the drive thru is extremely fast which is all the better. Well I think that is the best summary of this place that I could ever give. When I was just a little bitty thing my parents used to take me to their other locations but now they have a location near me so I go to this one. FYI-This is the best frozen custard in St. Louis. True facts. I almost always get the Special here- vanilla custard with hot fudge and malt powder. How can that be wrong? I even came here on my wedding day and brought my entire wedding party to experience the bliss that is Fritz's. Now I bring back my baby (aka my dog) and they give her a free puppy cone in the drive-thru. It's like the circle of life minus Mufasa. During the fall they play Cardinals games over the speakers so you don't have to miss a minute while you sit on their patio and eat one of their seasonal flavors like pumpkin pie. And bonus- unlike some custard places in the city, this location has overflow parking in the adjacent plaza so no one goes hungry. Seriously, you should come here but stay out of the drive-thru if you see my beat up old car because you do not want to keep me from my frozen custard. read more

It was busy but they moved fast. We got a nice table and ate our delicious ice cream. My son had the candy apple and my wife had the adams apple. My brother-in-law and I have an ongoing debate...Fritz's or Ted Drewe's. He thinks Fritz's. I like Fritz's a lot. It's not Ted Drewe's. But for people who know custard, that's not a bad thing. Fritz's is very good. I love their turtle sundaes. Ice cream has a very silky, smooth texture. I wish they had so more exotic concrete flavors...their menu sort of looks like Dairy Queen plus a lot of regular flavors...strawberry, chocolate chip. My boy Ted has flavors with things like lemon and tiramisu. Anyway, I digress. The fact is that Fritz's is about 10 minutes from my house and Ted's is about 45 minutes.
