Over the last two months, my family and I have been to New Whisky Bar three times for dinner on weeknights. The food is generally very good. My wife and daughter love the black bean burger, and I've enjoyed most of the dishes I've ordered. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing every time we've visited. The servers are friendly and polite, but the execution just isn't there. On multiple occasions, we had to wait long periods without seeing our server. I've had to go to the bar myself to get drinks because no one came around to check on us. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect orders to be accurate, bills to be correct, and servers to check on their tables regularly. It's frustrating because the food is good and the staff is pleasant, but after three visits with the same service issues, we've decided not to return. I hope management takes a closer look at the dining room service because the kitchen is doing its part. read more

We went there for Father's Day and really enjoyed it. Between the 3 of us we ordered the Shrimp Po Boy with fries, hamburger with fries and the Mac and cheese dinner. Everything was delicious with generous portions. Finished with a wonderful s'more dessert and it was outstanding. Very cozy place to dine with amazing service. They have a nice outdoor dining area available but it was raining on Sunday. Highly recommended this restaurant in downtown Plainfield. read more

O.M.B. (ONE MAGNIFICENT BURGER) Their name doesn't say it, but Next Whiskey Bar serves an incredible burger. I know my way around a sandwich, and I have to say the offerings at NWB in downtown Plainfield are some of the best around. Look for the blue & white house on Lockport St, and you'll know you've found it. NWB doesn't take reservations, however you can join an online waitlist. Park on the street or in a small lot adjacent to the building. The beer selection is fantastic, a pint ($8) never disappoints although I usually lean towards a Hefeweizen or pilsner with my meal. Yeah yeah, I know this is a WHISKEY bar, but yours truly doesn't do the brown liquor.....bad experience with Jägermeister as a kid. For appetizers, the cheese curds ($14) are pricey but oh-so-worth it. They come with a cilantro aioli and we get an order of these every single visit. The cauliflower popcorn ($11) is also a very worthy choice for starters; roasted and seasoned cauliflower florets are served with a sumptuous clarified butter. Their house NWB Burger ($16.50) is a busy affair, with pork belly, bbq sauce, onion straws and cheese curds on a pretzel bun. The Big Jer ($15.25) is a much simpler yet equally stellar burger with 2x4oz patties, lettuce, tomato, and Merkt's cheddar spread served with a pickle spear. I recently tried the Suribachi ($15.50) and it blew my mind. A 1/2lb patty is lightly fried in tempura batter, then topped with pepperjack cheese, wasabi coleslaw and sriracha on a brioche bun. Next time, I'm giving the El Toro a shot (pickled habaneros, corn guac). My wife loves the pork belly mac ($16), a good portion of cheesy cavatappi pasta with crispy pork belly. Their Cubano ($15) is solid and the Taylor Street panini ($15) is a tasty Italian grinder, with prosciutto, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato and olive spread on focaccia bread. NWB's homemade chips are amazing, I always opt for them instead of fries (which are also great). Bread = 5+ Circuses = 4.5 Service has been generally fine, but last visit it took a long time for our server to come by initially. The inside of this converted house is somewhat cramped so if the weather allows, I suggest dining 'al fresco'. Their outdoor patio definitely passes the vibe check. I honestly can't decide whose doughnuts are better, Empire in Naperville or Next Whiskey Bar's. It might be a tie! In any case, we ALWAYS end a meal here with the fried doughnuts ($11) that come with a heavenly whiskey caramel sauce for dipping. * TL;DR * In my mind, NWB stands for "Nirvana, With Burgers". Everything we've gotten here has exceeded expectations. Cheese curds, cauliflower popcorn, pork belly pasta, doughnuts and of course burgers all stand out. I would get the Suribachi again in a HEARTBEAT. The ambiance is ideal for date night and small groups, and with a small dining area that fills up fast, come early or expect a wait. Next Whiskey Bar is one of my favorite restaurants in the western suburbs, I highly recommend them. read more

Had such a pleasant evening at NWB. I've been there several times in the past 2 weeks and it always has a cozy vibe and welcoming atmosphere. Our server Jenny was a sweetheart with a great personality and yet not intrusive. Food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. Their elote corn is amazing! I've been to NWB a few times now and every time I come, the service is amazing and prompt. The cocktails are worth the price ($13-$15), which isn't too expensive compared to other bars in the area. They do have a patio area which was perfect for a nice summer day. read more

Came here with a female friend and checked out some of the booze as we expected it to be good. It certainly was and it was easy to decide on whiskey as liquor. There's whiskey in the name. Has lots of it. There's cheaper and there's some that are pricey. Got one of the cheaper. We had the Buffalo Trace. It's $8 for a pour. The pour is quite small. It was like more for tasting than drinking. Still it was good stuff. It slightly burned. That's how you know it's good. A little goes a long way it seems in this case. The food options don't include much for vegetarians. Each of us had a Side Salad because that was about it. It's $4.50 for a pretty small portion. This has typical vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, and tomatoes. It was fresh. There was nothing special about it but it was pretty much okay. Really like this place!! The atmosphere and the vibes are so fun & lively. The employees always seem to be in a good mood and the servers we have had were really friendly. My friends and I recently came here and ordered a few things off the food menu to try: the cauliflower popcorn, Nashville hot chicken sandwich, pulled pork poutine & their truffle Parmesan fries. Everything came out piping hot and the portions sizes are huge! The flavor in the meat on the poutine was insane and incredibly juicy. And although they are just French fries, the truffle parm fries were SO GOOD. Omg I am going to crave those on a weekly basis from now on. Love that they do fresh cut fries and they were perfectly crispy & crunchy. I've only had wine here but will go back and start trying their cocktails. This was my second time at this location. I have to say this is one of my new favorites. Good food and drinks, and the out door patio is nice. I was there on Sunday and beat the Father's Day rush. I started out with a bloody mary and it was delicious. I've also tried their pink drink and the Gin squeeze and I loved both!! I've only had appetizers and they were good. The SW chicken rolls and the bacon wrapped shrimp are very good and the Brussel sprouts were amazing!!! My friend had the shrimp po'boy with fries and she said it was very good. It was definitely a generous portion. Service was ok and we ended up waiting quite a bit for our drinks, our server explained they had a new bartender. High 60's on a Sat in November? I'll take that all day on a patio. Which we did earlier today. While the food was ok, service was great but what was disappointing and irresponsible was defying the governors order of indoor dining and their bar was open. We had a few drinks and went with their Pulled Pork Poutine with Cheese Curds and Gardinera. It was an ok dish as their fresh cut fries saved it. The gravy was a bit thick and heavy and there were no Cheese Curds but just cheese. The pork was ok as the flavor wasn't there. Then I had the Big Jer. It was good, not great as I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked. I think it was medium. Again the fresh cut fries were great! Their patio is nice and they have a descent size parking lot as well. However like I mentioned they have no regard for Public Safety by allowing indoor dining and service at the bar. At least most of the patrons wore masks except Phil Lawrence from ReMax (I only know this since he had his polo on) and his guest. They walked in without masks and never put one on including leaving the restaurant. I don't get why businesses do not take the safety of the public seriously. Endangering others to keep their staff employed and their business open are great standards to hold for a business. read more

My husband and I had came here for lunch and it was our first time. Everything was absolutely amazing! The service was great and the food was even better. We got the poutine for appetizer and yum! Then I got the birria tacos (which were the special tacos, so not always there). And let me tell you, I wish they were on their menu so I could get them every time! My husband got the Asian peanut wrap and he said it was the best wrap he's ever had. We did get the donuts for dessert and they were something to hit the spot. The only negative thing was that my husband asked for extra dressing that was in his wrap and we asked for extra Carmel for the donuts since they give so many with barely any sauce, and we were charged for all the extra sides without knowing.. would definitely watch out for next time. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this gem while we were visiting a friend! We literally could not get enough of each item we ordered! To start we shared the SW chicken wrap as a starter. Absolutely a "must try"! The sauce that came with the wrap was not spicy (don't get alarmed when you see the bright red color), and the veggies that are within the wrap are so fresh! As my entree, I ordered the chef's special tacos. For that day it was the al pastor marinated overnight with pineapples and some other yummy details I could not recall, and served with cilantro and onions. Absolutely delicious! I wish I had more than 3 since they were so good! This entree came with a side of house cut fries or potato chips (for $2 extra you can upgrade to any of the other sides). Lastly, we could not help ourselves and had to order the whiskey donuts! The order legit came with 10 mini donut puffs, served with a Caramel syrup, and we finished every single one of them between the 3 of us! It was so light and delicious! Reminded me of the ones served at a carnival LOL. This place has a parking lot so it was very convenient (but also I'm in the suburbs so this is expected?!!). read more

The environment is very cozy. Came here around 4pm on a Thursday. I thought they would have happy hour but I don't think they have it here. The drinks are priced averaged. But the drinks were really good! The server was nice and friendly. She was very knowledgeable about the items on menu. I do appreciate that because I can take there recommendations more seriously.
