High expectations for this new eatery. Love the atmosphere they have created. We have been here 5 or 6 times hoping to find a favorite dish. Servers are great, friendly and attentive. They know the menu, ingredients and how things are cooked. Most items are too salty for me, except the signature chicken, my husband has no real complaints. Pot pie look beautiful but wasn't what we expected and was a little bland. Don't pass up on the biscuits the are pretty awesome. I get so excited about the creative drinks but they have WAY too much ice, short glass and weak. This is an easy fix. I'd stay with "hen" and Alabama white sauce- so great. We are looking forward to trying their brunch on Saturday... maybe they'll think about a Sunday brunch too. Outside seating is such a wanted thing and they have it but I've never seen it available. Just left a bit ago and enjoyed a very nice lunch. Five of us dined on the pimento cheese--two of them--and the deviled eggs to start. We moved on to our main lunch dishes including the chicken pot pie, the roasted chicken (3 of us had that) and a chicken salad. Enjoyed a bottle of wine and. Couple of glasses of rose bubbly. I recommend askin' for the honey dijon sauce to go with... it tastes like an amalgamation of vinegar and dijon, that surprisingly enough works very well. This restaurant wants to be casual but in a fancy way which just gives it an identity crisis. I made a reservation thinking it would be busy on a Saturday, it wasn't. They sat us in the bar area, with a reservation I expect to be sat in the proper dining room. Server was fine, cheese biscuits were very good. I got the roasted half chicken with green beans and mac and cheese. The chicken was fine nothing special, green beans were good, mac & cheese was dry and overly smokey. My boyfriend got the chicken pot pie and was really excited for it. He hated it, there was too much sauce and not enough crust to soak it up. He also said the sauce was kinda sweet and the cornbread topping was sweet as well which just made the whole thing unappetizing. He did say that without the crust it was much better. I love the Farm to Table concept, and especially when done well. Frog & the Hen do it well. The food was delicious! Our group of 6 had a variety of items from the cinnamon rolls, pimento cheese tray, grits bowl, biscuits & gravy, French toast, fried chicken and roasted chicken and every single item was amazing! We came in to try this place which seemed cool. We waited 10 minutes just to get our drinks. Which nbd we were patient. The waitress took our order and then we waited and waited as people around us received their food. Our waitress walked by several times, never acknowledging we hadn't received our food. 20 minutes later she came up and lied to us about computer issues when in fact she never put in our order. We paid for the drinks, and the manager on duty did NOTHING but say I'll hope you'll visit us again!!! This was a highly rated restaurant by way of hubby's co-worker who frequents this restaurant every other Friday! NO JOKE!! So, we definitely took his suggestions and finally visited here (twice so far--back to back Fridays!! lol). It is just that GOOD! The food is VERY FRESH!! And it is very tasty/yummy! Hubby got the Nashville Hot Chicken (it was too hot for my taste!!) He LOVED it! I got the 1/4 roasted chicken with chimichurri sauce. It was delicious! Our sides were the Hens Mac n Cheese, Collards, and the best ever coleslaw: JALAPENO HONEY SLAW!!! Yum, yum, yum! I would have never thought to put red onions in a slaw or jalepeno pepper. It is now a favorite of mine! Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly (not overcooked!!). And you must try the PEANUT BUTTER PIE! I have never had this dessert before. Had the hen southern salad and I was expecting a good salad but honestly it wasn't all that and to top it off the dressing was busted in the bag when we got the bag and before leaving we had told them and she didn't give us a new bag or dressing. Found this spot through Yelp and thought we would give it a try. We loved the atmosphere and music! We were seated quickly and our server came right over with glasses of water. I have been to Farmhaus, I have been to Craft and Vine, I have yet to go to Frog Hollow but this place...spot on!!! This might be my new "go to" place in Augusta. We sat at the bar and not only was James, the bartender, entertaining but he also makes killer craft cocktails. He was very engaging and honestly answered all of my questions about menu items. Moving on to the food, everything we ordered was a culinary delight. From the roasted chicken, to the fried tenders, the salad, the fried mac and cheese balls, the collards and the biscuits - everything was on point! Brianna, the manager on duty was kind and accommodating. We had such a pleasant and satisfying experience that we made brunch reservations prior to leaving. They also doing a great job through COVID and offer outdoor seating for those who can't dine indoors. I absolutely adore farm to table restaurants and I have been so excited to try them. We tried the wings (hot and Nashville hot), cheddar biscuits, chicken and rice soup, roast chicken, and bbq pulled sandwich. The soup had zero flavor, the biscuits were pretty good, the wings somehow had no flavor/seasoning but did have good spice that kicks in after a second, and my husbands sandwich had a bone in it. My roast chicken, their specialty, was good but not great and tasted like any rotisserie chicken you can get from the store.
