If you find yourself in the Asheville area take the 30 mile drive east on I-40 to Waynesville to Frog Level Brewing. This is one of the coolest micro-breweries I have found! Located on a creek in the quaint ville of Wayne, you will find Frog Level. Located in a renovated historic building with plenty of space filled with cool art and cold beer. This place is worth the stop! We tried a couple of their beers, the Salamander Slam IPA and the Hop-Rooted IPA by 7 Clans Brewing. Both were very good, my personal favorite was the Salamander Slam, brewed with pine and citrus hops with a great finish. For a midday snack we ordered the Trout Dip. This has to be the best fish dip I have tried! The trout is sourced locally and smoked, served with pita points. I would order this on every visit if I was a local. Spying on our creekside neighbors with my Maxwell Smart skills I must report that the nachos looked amazing as did the sammies. Great portion sizes along with top notch food. There is live music on the creek the day we visited and there was a good crowd on hand. As an added bonus, Frog Level shares their space with 7 Clans Brewing, a majority Native American female owned brewery. The day of our visit they were offering 3 beers and I elected for the Hop-Rooted IPA mentioned above. This IPA is citrus forward with enough centennial hops to deliver the hoppy punch all of us IPA drinkers love. When I am in the area again I will definitely stop by again! read more

This is a place we've been meaning to get to for YEARS, but going between Asheville & Highlands, Waynesville was just the middle. So, finally got the chance this Spring Break to hang out in town and at Frog Level for a good times. First, parents: THEY HAVE GAMES!!!! Tons of stuff for the kids to do: board games and a sand shuffleboard table, and foosball. If you want to, you can play too! But this allowed us to hang out and drink more, and that's the other good stuff. More and more places are going to almost 80% IPAs. Not here, there's a great selection, including many sour beers my wife and my taste buds crave so much. Love all the different choices, really creative blends, and yes, even got a glass of wine for my mother to keep her at bay a bit too! Love this place! Great atmosphere - sitting by the river outside on a nice day is so relaxing. We love all of the seating areas and the new big umbrellas too. Dog and kid friendly! When we have been here during live music times, that has always been good. Great choice of really tasty beers. It's awesome that you can try a sip before ordering a whole one! My fave is their vanilla porter. They also have seasonal beers which is wonderful. The Food had drastically improved over the last year and the Bavarian pretzel is huge and hot and delicious. You have to get it. Food service is very quick. We love that they also routinely have sangria and a wine choice. Great for large groups. I absolutely loved this spot! We were exploring the area and wanted to escape the rain. We walked in and we're so impressed with how cute the inside was and spacious. The beer selection was great and we had one of the best winter ales and sours we had had in awhile. Lastly, I loved that the bartenders answered our questions and also gave us a little history of the area. The atmosphere was fantastic! Good live music, environment by the water. There were multiple seating areas, one with games, one just your basic indoor seating, beautiful outdoor seating, some seating outside off to the side that's a little more private and quiet. Also a hammock sector chilling. You order at the bar for food and drinks and bus your own table. It was busy and the foot took a while to get to us. Had a coffee stout which was very good. Also a burger and fries which were good. The burger was not quite up to par with the rest of the place. Looked like a frozen patty from a food service. You order everything at the bar and someone will bring your food out to your table. The tables are not kept clean. I had to get some paper towels and water to clean our table. During our week in Maggie Valley, we visited a number of breweries in the area and this one was hands down our fav. Nice bar and wait staff, fantastic atmosphere (art, games, wonderful backyard along a bubbly creek with a nice cool summer breeze, nice music by Trouvere, family and dog friendly) and delicious beer. We had the nutty brunette and the bended tree chestnut brown. We really wanted to like this place, but won't be back. While they have a wonderful outdoor space and sometimes even offer live music, there's no designated space for smoking so everyone gets exposed to it. Definitely not good. The food is typical pub fare and definitely not in the same league as other breweries in town or Asheville. We've tried several options and all were mediocre at best. The final straw came as I watched the bartender wipe off my glass all the way up to the rim with the same bar rag she used to wipe the counter. Oh well, they have it at Ingles, too. 100% sanitation report ! There are children running all over the place. The organization of the bar/restaurant is puzzling. You can go outside and sit on the deck. However, almost everyone is smoking cigarettes out there. Friday night they had a band playing. However, it wasn't worth breathing the rancid smoke outside to listen to them. I wish they would reorganize their place. I think they would get a lot more patrons.
